As people face their fears and insecurities, the images slowly fade away as they are funneled into a singular cavern room. The walls are lined with floating images - records of the trials faced playing across the walls. Hovering above the floor in the center of the room is a strange Pokémon, its eyes closed in meditation. As more people enter the room, the swirling memories begin to form around the Pokémon, coalescing into a symbol. As the images merge with the Pokémon, it appears changed.

Greetings, Humans of the New World.

The voice is soft, warm, and nurturing.

I am Diancie. I guard the gate to the final evolution. I have heard much of you. I am pleased to say that others have spoken quite highly of you. I am here to give you a gift, one never before granted to humanity. But then, many among you are not entirely human anymore, are you?

Be warned, the power I give today is not to be taken lightly. We have observed your progress and we are pleased with your triumphs. Sparing your kind was not a mistake! It is our hope that you will use this for good use.

[OOC: With that, the event has officially ended and things will return to normal. Characters may use this post to ask questions of Diancie.]

The final evolution is a temporary state of being, made possible by the light of the Mega Stone and the bond of trust between man and Pokemon. Long ago, before the great wars, it was a power that symbolized the relationship between our kinds...

[Diancie's arms and veil lift up around her as she gestures towards the walls of the cave.]

It is time for this power to return to this world. ...Properly.

So it's something that happened before then. [A nod.]

And it's something that can make our friends stronger. I'm sure they'll appreciate the gift, most certainly. I'm glad you trust us enough to give us the chance, Diancie. It means something, I think, that humans to start to regain that trust.

[She pauses once more.]

Are these stones naturally occurring? Where do they come from?

[To that, Diancie gazes upwards towards the roof of the cavern.]

There are stories...

Of warring gods and great cataclysms, of a power that was necessary to prevent catastrophe. But long ago, these stones fell from the heavens to bless us with their power, and I... I have been the guardian of this cavern of Mega Evolution ever since.

[Rei's gaze follows the Pokemon's upwards, the heavy sense of burden seeming to fall over the ancient creature making her a little more reserved than normal. Yes, it is possible.]

They're stones from Heaven. From the stars...

[Her focus shifts back towards the figure.]

Have you been waiting for people, all this time?

Oh, it hasn't been like that.

[She whirls gracefully in place and reaches for the wall of her cavern.]

To you, it is a cave of trials, but for me, it has always been my home. It is an honor to have this duty.

But yes -- many have entered in the past years, but... none have ever made it to my dwelling.

Oh.

[A pause.]

Oh...are...did you drive them away? Or...?

It is impossible to grasp this power with lingering doubts, fears, or uncertainties.

[She is solemn now as she settles closer towards Rei.]

The property of this cave... It indiscriminately tests those who enter. Fear not. For those who cannot surpass their trials, I see them safely back to their homes.

That's...

[She lets out a tense breath.]

That's kinder than I expected. Thank you for the reassurances.

Of course.

[A gracious bow as befitting her current appearance.]

I have never known who it is who would walk away from this place, successful. But when I saw this large group... and when I felt your determination and your strength... I knew.

[Diancie remains still with her body bent.]

It is my honor and my privilege to present you with the power of Mega Evolution. Please use it well. I will say... that not even all of us have grasped this power, though... in some sense, that is by choice.

Thank you, Diancie. For your insight and for the gift.

[Rei returns the bow as was proper before taking a step back.]

We are, as always, in your debt.

[And as the two overly formal princesses continue to bow to each other, the cave walls pulse once with a strange light that settles over Rei.]

Then I ask only that you always remember what it means to bear this power - the steep path you have faced and the trials you have fought.

[The light fully envelops her - and in the next moment, Diancie and the cave vanishes from view, leaving her sitting just outside its mouth. It may be tempting to wonder if even the meeting was simply a dream of some sort...]
