Music, potentially games to be played, minor decoration, at least enough to indicate where the location of the celebration shall be, and an all day picnic might be best to explain. Everyone brings a blanket and basket with the understanding to be sharing with others and those who don't bring food can be asked to bring things like napkins or plates or pokemon treats.

Or perhaps something more of a buffet sort, a pot luck, as it were. Both are viable options.

Successful ones do, certainly.

And it varies on age. There are games for children, teenagers, and adults, who will be attending the party in question? If it is an open invitation to all ages, it may be best to have a variety of things.

I'm afraid I am not a knowledgeable authority on teenager games and the sorts, that said, I can do research on such matters.
