I've got something to say (Closed)
Who: Yukiko and Yosuke
Where: Forest Shrine
When: Week 79
What: Yukiko and Yosuke have some stuff to talk about, so she brings him out to the Forest Shrine
Yukiko didn't really like thinking about all this, about how she had basically been kicked out of her house for the time being. Yes, she'd found work and she had a place of her own, and she was doing what she wanted to do? But that didn't make it any easier or less painful to think about. Her mother had been furious when she'd found out, and even angrier that her daughter had gone on an expedition into the ruins without saying something. Nevermind that they hadn't been speaking, or that Yukiko had literally left the house. She was still her daughter, so of course it mattered where she was!
All that weighed rather heavily on the newest member of the Seekers, and had for a few days now, and even if she didn't really want to talk about it she knew she needed to. And she knew, too, that Yosuke deserved to hear what other people had been saying to her. She believed it fully, and felt that she was doing the right thing by grabbing her own destiny by the horns. Maybe it wasn't what her family wanted, just like what she was going to tell him may not be what his family wanted, but it was what was right for them. and for Union.
Squandering gifts was never wise, and even without abilities like hers, Yosuke had a gift. He was good with Pokemon, if Makie and Fuzzy were any indication. She believed that too, fully, and in a way? She felt like she was responsible for those frowns the other day.
So, when he'd returned from Refuge, as promised, she bought a picnic lunch (after several failed attempts at cooking food, Ganesha had insisted on that) and took him and her Pokemon out to the Shrine. Jiraiya, Orthrus, Hestia, Lillith, and Peter were all out and going about their business as usual. Mostly enjoying the sun and napping, though Hestia made it a point to help Yukiko prepare the food.
As she works, quietly really, Yukiko hummed quietly in time to a tune from her Warp Band. A radio jingle advertising a restaurant in Caldera first, and then one of Rise's old songs.

Sure, helping people calm down and relax is something. But she's been really, truly blessed. And anyone who can take to Pokemon like Makie? Is also pretty blessed.
"You haven't talked to him, have you?"
no subject
"I don't know why, but I feel like he already knows. Every time I ask off from work to go out and do things, he lets me. I don't get much crap from him. Like when he let me to go Sanctuary. He wasn't happy with me, but he understood. After hearing about your parents, I'm pretty grateful that my dad's not really like that."
no subject
"You're...pretty lucky. D'you think he'd let you leave for good?"
no subject
"So...how did everything go since I got back from Refuge? I know you said your parents weren't all that happy about it..."
no subject
She'd taken Bereth, which helped her get there in under a day, and the expedition had been a ... thing.
"I got back probably about the same time you did, and just sorta started settling in. But Mom was even madder when she found out I'd gone and was serious. Dad...I dunno, he's coming around to it I think."
no subject
"What kind of parent does that?!"
no subject
And that was the honest truth. She didn't think her mother was mean, she just thought that her mother was upset. And she had every right to be, since Yukiko had done something without permission. Nevermind that she was 18, and a trainer, and she'd fought a war. She had been disrespectful.
no subject
"You think they'll let you come back? Or is your mom seriously going to disown you?" And if she did that, that- that would be stupid. He won't think well of her mother if she never allows Yukiko back.
no subject
"He...well, he's helping me with rent while I get on my feet. I don't know how mom's going to take it, but really? Like other people told me, and like I've begun to figure out? It isn't her choice. It's mine."
Her head hangs even lower, and tears begin to flow now, even with the reassurances of friends, silver drops marring the edges of her eyes. She really hates that her dad's having to do this, and she hates that her mother is on such a rampage. Dad's going to pay for it, she knows, but it isn't her decision, she didn't ask him to help. Mom's just going to have to deal with it not being hers either, but she's pretty intent. The last few conversations they've had have all been a blur of I can't believe you're being so selfish!, I can't understand why you're so set on this?! Don't you know how dangerous it is?, and Think of your family! We've owned this spa for two hundred years, or did you forget?!
It hurt to think about. But what can she do? Getting angry...it won't help.
"I...just...I feel like she's trying to trap me, Yosuke. But I'm not going to...just stop? That's wrong..."
no subject
"From what it sounds like, that is what she's doing." His anger isn't letting him see any farther past what's been presented to him. "I don't think you should just give in. That's not fair to you at all...you should be able to do what you want to do. It's your life!" He looks down at the blanket now. He doesn't like seeing his friend like this, upset and crying.
"Hey, but it'll work out, okay? They'll get someone else to run the spa."
no subject
"I'm not going to give in," she says, choking back a sob. "I won't. I've...come too far. But that doesn't mean I'm just going to forget all that. I know she won't let me." Bitterly, she shakes her head and coughs. "I know someone who actually wants to take it over. One of the people we hired...a cousin, I think? I'm not sure. But I know that she wants to work there. I just, I don't know. It's not like I hate the spa. I just don't want it to be the only thing I ever do?"
She finally looks up, eyes red and wet, a tired and drained look to her. "Don't you feel the same? I mean...if you can help people shouldn't you want to?"
no subject
She'd helped Makie too, his Scyther, get better after they'd discovered she still had a broken arm. This was something Yukiko was good at and liked to do. And he doesn't understand, still, why she should be barred from doing that.
"Yeah. I do. I wouldn't want to stand around and do nothing at all. Your mom...she just hasn't seen what you can do, what you have done. I think you're doing the right thing, and you totally have my support."
He is steadfast in this motion, features setting in an expression of determination. But then it also softens, and he gives her a wink.
"You know...you're pretty strong despite all those tears. Cheer up a little, you're doing what's best for you and everyone else."
no subject
It makes her choke up a bit, words not coming out as clearly as they should. She appreciates it, though, and it means a lot to her. Her hand slowly reaches over to his and comes to rest on top of it.
"You...really mean that. Thank you, Yosuke. I...it...it means a lot to hear you say that." Not that hearing it from Chie, or Fuuka, or any of the Seekers meant any less. "I...you know, it's good to hear I'm not the only one thinking this way."
no subject
"You're definitely not the only one. I think it's good that you've even come to a decision what you want to do with your life." He hasn't, not completely. He knows he wants some things, but he also knows he needs to make a living somehow if it's not going to be Junes.
"I just wish your mom would see that. It'll work out, in the end. And if it doesn't, you've got us." Her friends, he knows that she has them that care about her. And her dad too.
no subject
That aside, she appreciates having a guy friend who isn't as mopey as Kanji.
"I know I do. I just...it's hard to get it all right, but I figure it will work out. Gods willing, anyway. If nothing else, I've got my friends and my Pokemon. You're right."
Snor-Lord lets out a grunt. You totally have him, baby.
"But really, this was supposed to be about you..."
no subject
What else was there?
no subject
"And it's not about me. I've made my choice. What do you want to do? And you never told me much about your trip. So I want to hear about that."
no subject
"The trip was awesome. Refuge was something else, even though it's totally underground. We managed to catch one of the smaller festivals they were holding, and spent some time there. Plus, I totally found out something amazing!" He seems excited, and he wants to surprise her.
"I can show you." He stands up, a little farther away from the blanket. His pokemon look over, knowing exactly what he's going to do next.
"You ready?"
no subject
Yukiko will undoubtedly talk about her Pokemon fairly regularly. They're a big part of her life and reason for being the way she is. But when he acts all excited, she can't help but nod.
"Absolutely, show me whatever it is."
no subject
"Okay. Check it out!"
Yosuke seems to concentrate, and a strong wind kicks up and swirls around him, answering his call. It blows through his hair, and when he feels that there's enough control over the wind around him, he takes off at a run, until he has enough momentum to jump- and fly. It picks him up, and he soars through the air, though not far, before turning back around and touching down near the same spot that he'd started his feat.
He walks back towards the spot where Yukiko was sitting, grinning from ear to ear.
"Wasn't that cool?!"
no subject
She trails off, waiting for whatever it is. And...slowly it dawns on her that he's concentrating, and then the wind is kicking up. And the wind is getting stronger. And then he's in the air!
Yukiko leaps to her feet and claps her hands, excited as can be! He's like her! He Awakened to his own powers! It's kind of awesome, seeing anything like that. Certainly nothing like her own skills, but then everyone's different!
"That's amazing, Yosuke! Congratulations!"
She grabs him up into a big hug, heedless of how he might take it because she's just delighted for him!
"You must be so happy! What's it feel like to fly?"
no subject
"I, I am! Totally happy! It's really amazing, soaring through the air. I-It was really scary at first, but I got the hang of it..."
She's so totally hot, he thinks, trying really hard to be a good friend here.
no subject
"That's really great! Did Mami help you Awaken like that? Or was it something else?"
Her own had just...happened. But that was years ago...
no subject
"We found out together! I couldn't of done it without her." And that's how he's going to leave that one. "It was a really great trip though Yukiko, it's too bad I didn't see you there while you were there with the Seekers."
no subject
"Now that you're Awakened and all, traveling with me'll be a lot easier, too. Maybe the beach or something, if you wanna make a trip out of it."
