001 - Action

[Things had been a bit boring for Ace lately, after the earthquake things had been crazy but now that it had calmed down he really had nothing to do. Except walk around the city with his faithful companion, Candle, floating by his side.

He was hoping to find something good to eat, and maybe finding someone who was as bored as he was. He passed a few stands, a lot of the fruits seemed delicious, but he really wasn't sure what he wanted to eat.]

Hey Candle, what you think I should get??

[He turned to look at his pokemon but he wasn't there, instead he was a few metres away, floating in circles around someone. Ace walked over to the person and tried to take his Litwick off the floor, but the candle just floated away from him]

I'm very sorry, he has a thing for bothering people, and umm if you wouldn't mind, can you help me catch him?

[Ace is forever going to be a kid at heart, seriously.]

If you could give me some pointers that would be fantastic, I've tried talking to him but he's not very attentive. and nice to meet you too!

[He turns to Candle who's trying to get closer to Sneak, and sighs] please don't burn the little Sneak, and stop trying to grab her please.

[He scratches his head and smiles a bit] It seems like I'm going to be apologizing a lot today, but sorry for that too. Sneak seems a lot different than Candle

[ Pointers. Wait, wait, is she being asked for pointers on training a pokemon? She, who had her first bond a month or so ago. Thrown off by that, she starts to say something-

Until Sneak finally loses her cool a little. And then she grows to several times her size! She also grows a scary face and looms over both Ace and Candle - an Astonish to show how tough she is. Melaka... should have been expecting that. But she ends up smiling a bit to herself.

... Not that much more behaved ]

[Candle shrieks and goes to hide around Melaka's legs. Ace is surprised but just starts laughing, trying really hard to to look at his Litwick, who's now giving him a mean look. But he can't stop]

that--- that was amazing. I'm sorry Candle you-- you're a dork, come here [Candle doesn't move, he just turns away from Ace]

I think Sneak is really something, you've done a great job with him

She's been good, yeah. [ and at Ace's laugh... she laughs too. Sneak shrinks down to normal size too and makes to hide behind Melaka's head. And the woman herself just keeps giggling to herself. A little proud to be praised like this ]

She actually messed with me when I first met her.

[ and now she herself crouches down to try to reach down and grab Candle. Which might be easier said than done, given the ghost. And her being a fighting type... ]

[Ace smiles broadly, hearing the girl laugh made him feel a bit happier, and Candle just looks up at her curiously]

Really? That must have been a big surprise, Candle just came over and played with my hair the whole time

[Candle looks at the hand and approaches slowly, his fire burning a bit more intensely. He extends his little hand and touches the tip of one of her fingers]

I met her out in the Verdant Forest. Tried to jack my bread and caught me up in a Confuse Ray.

[ Okay, so Candle's touching her, so now she can try to pick him up. Let's grab him! Hah!

Sneak, meanwhile, looks a little bit proud of her handiwork. Or the memory of it ]

That would explain why you named her Sneak, she's a sneaky little ghost. And pretty smart too, Candle here just pulled my hair when I was out in the Scorched Forest, it scared the crap out of me.

[Candle lets out a small yelp and his fire gets a bit stronger, but he calms down and makes sure not to fall from her hands. He smiles up at you moves his little hands.

Ace just looks at Sneak and really wants to pet her, but doesn't really know how to go about it so he just turns his head to the pokemon]

Is it ok if I pet your head??

[ ...Pet her? But she's a creepy disembodied soul which feeds on people's misery...! ... That said this guy did just give her a meal, so it's probably fair, right? So shifts a moment and then nods, hesitantly.

As for Melaka though, now with Candle in hand she stands and looks down at the little thing... it is sort of cute. ]

So these guys are out in the Scorched Forest, huh?

[ There's a point to it tho ]

[Ace smiles at the little ghost and extends a couple of fingers to touch her head, but they kinda go through, so instead he puts the fingers on the tree branch and scratches behind it as if it were a dog's ear.

Candle smiles and moves his arms around, he's pretty happy right now]

Yeah... [He's a bit distracted by Sneak] I don't know how easy they are to come by though

What other types did you see around there? I've got a mission out there soon.

[ Said while looking down at Candle. At least it sort of feels solid right now?

As for Sneak though, that... isn't something she can actually feel. What with being a ghost and all, that doesn't have a sensation (touch). but the niceness of it makes her hesitantly smile a little. sort of ]

There's a a few actually, I've seen dark and fire mostly, but I heard there's a few poison guys in there, and even bugs, which I didn't know could survive on that kind of land

[Candle tends to change the way his body feels, though the more solid he is the less he floats, so he's slowly falling, and he doesn't really notice this yet. He's really enjoying the attention and thinking that if maybe she could get a better hold of him, she'll like him more.

Ace smiles at the little Phantump, touching the little leaf growing from one of her ears, before extending his hand to her, maybe hoping she'll try to touch him back]

Got any specifics for me?

[ Bug, poison... fire, she had figured. But hmm. Litwicks, huh? Wait, she should adjust her hold on it. Maybe she should do more. Uh...

Sneak though finally shifts in the air before she reaches out to "touch" Ace. But she isn't solid even as she does that, so it's more like "rest in the general area of" ]

I don't really know how many there are, but I've seen a few Pinecos and Koffins, never gotten close to them though, and I'm pretty sure I've seen Murkrows flying around the top of the trees.

[He thinks for a bit, he knows he'd seen something else when he met Candle, but he doesn't know for sure] I think there's a few Magbys but not really sure so don't hold my word on that

[Candle moves a little, some of his wax has become solid enough for tact, he's worried it might fall on Melaka's hand and burn her.

Ace smiles and tries to touch the little Phanthumb a bit more, bit his fingers just feel really cold, he wonders how come she can't solidify like Candle does, and if other ghosts are the same]

[ Murkrows. Knows that those are. Same for Magbys. And Pinecos are... a bug of some sort, she thinks. It sounds distantly familiar. No idea what a Koffing is though... she really should spend like a whole day in the library at some point to look through old books... NOT. THAT SHE. WILL SHOW THIS. Because a proper ranger ought to know more on what they are scouting out in the near future! (okay no she looked overly contemplative for a bit )

But then the wax being sort of hot drove her back. She start a bit and jerked her hands slightly - but then didn't want to drop him either, so she just sort awkwardly gets it into a new position.

Sneak can make her hands solid or other parts of her... but he nature is to sort of hold back from that contact. She doesn't want to be touched, basically. ... Or well she does but after as long as she was in the wild alone she doesn't trust it ]

Thanks for the info. Didn't mean to quiz you down on a first meeting though... [ A little sheepishly ]

[Ace just stares at her, he's wondering what she's thinking about and just tries really hard not to laugh when Candle's wax burns her.]

That's ok, there are many places I know nothing about, but I like hanging out in the Scorched Forest... fire isn't such a bad thing to train with over there

[Candle just smiles and moves to adjust to Melaka's new position, making sure to harden his wax as much as possible, since he knows he'll fall if he makes it intangible.

his hand is now just hovering over Sneak, not sure what to do, but wanting to feel the weird presence her body emits, it's a completely new feeling and he doesn't think he's had enough of it yet. Maybe asking Candle to let him put his hand through him would help out this]

I haven't really gone outside of the city that much until the last few months, but... yeah, the warmth going on there does seem to stand out.

[ Sneak does not back off, but she doesn't do too much more to compliment it. Just sort of shifts floating in the air ]

For me it just makes it a bit chilly when I come back into the city. Though I want to go explore the mountains one of these days, they seem interesting.

[Ace smiles, moving his hand away from Sneak. He's a bit used to ghost pokémon's bodies, but seeing one always surprises him no matter what.
He wonders how difficult would it be to find one like Sneak in the wild]

I can attest that they are kinda interesting, but kinda dull. I've been out there a few times now. [ Sheepishly. ]

I guess going to the same place could make any location boring, though I still enjoy the scorched forest a lot myself.

Any recommendations for when I go adventuring over there?

Depends on if you're scaling or going into it's tunnels down there. Both've got a lot of rock and steel types out there, and in the caves you'e got some worry about a cave in. On the mountain itself though it gets really cold towards the top and the weather's been extra nasty in the last month or so. Enough to make pokemon move out of their normal habitat, which can make them edgey.

[ Some of that she observed herself, others she picked up on reports issued about one of the missions she was on ]

I'm not sure the cold would bother me much but I have to keep that in mind. I'm planning on meeting a few new pokemon with different typing than me, and the ones you mentioned seem really good.

Do you know of any good place where I could find grass types though?

Oh, that one's easy. They're all over the Verdant Forest. Them and bugs.

The few times I've been in those areas I got a lot of pokemon scared off, I was hoping maybe I could make friends with a grass guy. I want to explore every area , they all seem so interesting

And we've only barely touched the area around us. Like the Council like's saying, brave new world and all.

I wonder how much dangerous all the uncharted places are, and how many more things we could discover
