The Heart of the Forest
Who: Ceilto, Lux Crownguard, Yukiko Amagi, Eiji Hino, Estelle Bright, Sinbad, Haruka Tenou, Rise Kujikawa, Domri Rade, Right Suzuki
Where: The West Wildwoods Ruins
When: Two days after this announcement.
What: Adventure calls! The Seekers and friends respond.
The path to the ruins itself had already proven difficult. Stopping off at Refuge along the way for a chat with the natives, the intrepid explorers had delved deep into the underground passageways to seek their destination, the route above ground proving to be impassable due to the thick, gnarled trees and overgrown brambles. A few lanterns and liberal usage of Flash had helped guide their way, and eventually, several hours and a half-dozen stray Rock- and Ground-types later, they had finally emerged into an enormous cavern...
Ceilto increases the power of his Flash as he whistles.
"Look at that."
A hulking edifice of collapsed metal and rock stretches out before them... It appears to have once been a tower of some sort, though the upper layers are no longer visible.
"Alright, folks. Here's where we split. Lux and Estelle, you guys are the senior Seekers here, so I'm putting you in charge. Yukiko, Sinbad, you're with Lux. Rise, Eiji, Right, go with Estelle. Domri and Haruka, you're with me. There are entrances on three sides: Lux, take the center, Estelle, you go right."
Which, of course, leaves him with left. With a wave, Ceilto beckons his group forward.
"Anything happens, blow the whistle."

[He's generally good at finding his way, but he realizes others aren't, so it wouldn't hurt]
Furfur, you're on marking duty, got it?
Roger Dodger!
no subject
Their footsteps echo dully as they progress. It is a place forgotten by time... Simultaneously a relic of the past and a promise of what might lie in their future.
...Alright, moment's over.
In more practical matters, the second floor appears to be relatively sturdy. There is a decaying sign nearby with script that only a scholar of the ancient language might be able to decipher accompanied by odd symbols. Three interlocking ovals point right. A black silhouette of a man with an X points left. Yellow script on a black background, all in capital letters, is accompanied by the numeral 5.
In the meantime, there are three openings on this floor if they choose to pick one at random: one left, one right, one all the way on the other side. They can also continue upwards if they wish.]
no subject
Huh. I...can either of you read the Old Language? Because I can't, and this is probably pretty important.
no subject
Tried to learn a bit, but never found a good method - but these pictograms...
[Sinbad frowns slightly as he examines them as the Rufflet squawks a little]
And X and man? I think it means Do not go that way... but I have no idea what the ovals are - some kind of flower?
no subject

[She takes out a pad and copies them down all the same, because if nothing else she can always study the Old Language in the library.]
no subject
[ Holding up her lantern light toward the relic, she inspects it. Lux hoped, as the senior-most member of this party, that she would be able to help, but unfortunately, she was stumped. She shook her head. ]
I'm sorry, I can't quite make it out.
[ Pulling out a pad of paper, she quickly draws the characters before returning her sketchpad to her bag. ]
Usually this here [ She points toward the X. ] means some sort of danger, so we'll not want to be going that way. The one on the right... I'm not sure. I've seen it in the Old City before, usually near large machinery. Nothing we're equipped to deal with right now.
We should probably just stay the course for now. We can come back this way later.
no subject
[He gestures, the growlithe barks and blasts ember on the ground for a crude resemblances of the signs]
Last place I was in had ghost-types that caused mischief, better keep mark in case the signs get taken. Let's head on.

As they continue up the next flight of stairs towards the third floor, they may observe that, unless they want to fly to the top, their passage will be barred soon. Past the fifth floor, the metal steps have crumpled in a tangled heap underneath a rockfall.
In any case, the third floor has the same set of openings as the second. No sign this time. Either each floor has the same corresponding set of rooms or this one just wasn't that interesting.
What is interesting, though, is that a faint red light shines from underneath the right hand door here.]
no subject
[At the same time? Yukiko feels like it could be alright. She's fond of red, naturally. Cassandra wanders over to give it a tentative sniff, while Yukiko looks at the more experienced Seeker and Sinbad.]
Do we go for the one that stands out? Or one of the unassuming ones?
no subject
Sinbad. You really shouldn't go off ahead like that without explaining things.
Danger - Adventure, Truth - they often go hand in hand, unless this door leads to certain death, I say take it.
no subject
Cassandra won't smell anything too interesting through there. Nothing alive for sure.]
no subject
[He puts his hand on the knob, but waits for the final word as he's the subordinate]
Least should figure out the source of that light.
no subject
[Yukiko nods again, putting her hand on top of Sinbads.]
Shall we?
no subject
[ Lux is a bit more pragmatic about the situation. Calling out Patrick, her Venusaur, she looked toward the other two. ]
Have someone at the ready, in case things go south. Be ready to run, if you have to.
[ Once they've properly defended themselves, the blond will give them the nod. Let's see what's behind the crazy glowy door. ]
no subject
[He switches hands - so the one that has his enhanced ring is up, ready to throw up a light screen at a moment's notice as the rest of his pokemon either position themselves to pounce or fly]
Get ready!
[Sinbad calls out once Lux gave the nod as he swings the door open and stepped back in the same motion]
no subject
Oh wait no it's just a puff of dust.
A vast room stretches out before them that seems to occupy about three floors all on its own. Broken-down heavy machinery lines the room, alongside boilers and pipes and unidentifiable contraptions with claws and hooks. It resembles an assembly line, though it's not entirely clear what the assembly line would have been making. At the far end, boxes and crates are stacked, containing some product that was never shipped out.
The red glow comes from the fact that they're stepping into a control booth that looks out on the factory floor; for some reason, the glass is tinted red. The ceiling in this factory has collapsed and sunlight from far above trickles in weakly.]
no subject
Gods...what did they make here? It's so big!
[She holds up a hand as Cassandra pads in after her, the catlike Pokemon rubbing against her legs nervously. An effort of willpower later, and a glowing ball of sunlight appears over their heads. Not big, but enough to make things just a bit clearer.]
And look! The sun!
no subject
Red Glass... what were they making that would require this kind of glass?
no subject
Sinbad's question might be answered if he examines the crates.
Valefor and Fur will again sniff nothing of particular interest to their noses.]
no subject
[That's her guess, anyway...]
no subject
[ Looking about the area, Lux notices the stacks of crates, making her way over to get a better look. Usually one might want to practice caution when investigating something like this, but this blond may have been hanging around with the delver crowd perhaps a bit too long. ]
Sinbad, Yukiko, come here, I think I found something.
[ Swinging her pack off her back and opening it, she fishes through, looking for something she could use to pry open one of these crates. Finding a crowbar packed away, she was suddenly thankful that she let someone else pack a few extra things in her bag for her. Taking the flat end, she wedged it between the top and side of one of the crates. ]
Help me wedge this open. I want to get a look at what's inside.
no subject
It's...
Knick-knacks and jewelry?
Metal bracelets of different designs, rings and necklaces, even what seem to be eyeglass frames. They're all tossed in haphazardly.
Strangely, they all appear to have a slot for fitting something in.]
no subject
...I...huh. That's quite a lot of these. Are all the crates full of the same thing?
no subject
They all got this spot to slot things in... what are they for?
