How has everyone been? Cordelia and I have been quite busy of late, my apologies for being unavailable. Married life is, as it happens, keeps your free time rather limited, but I must say it is highly recommended! The recent contact with the city of Sanctuary has lead to some rather interesting revelations! I'd always noticed my abilities were somewhat different from that of the normal Enlightened. Once I learned the name, it all fell into place, and my eyes were able to reveal the truth. Apparently, I am Magi, as the Enlightened of Sanctuary are. It's a rather fascinating development! I still am not certain how I ended up here at all, but it would explain why nobody has recognized me before. Perhaps I managed to make it near to Union before meeting a grisly end, only to reawaken alive and bereft of memory within the Forest Shrine! At the very least it's interesting to speculate about.

Dumb enough to use an identifiable Warp Band, at least. I'll not answer any questions. My charge's safety is my concern, and the details of that arrangement are not something I would reveal to any stranger who might seek to harm her.

I suppose that's your conclusion to draw, but understand a strange person requesting information about my charge is not something I treat particularly kindly.

Indeed it is, but I can't promise I can lend my favorable opinion. As to what she wishes, we'll figure it out. Just don't get in the way of her studies.

no promises! i live to offer kids a choice between studying and snowball fights, which one they pick is up to them.

All I'm hearing is that we'll be focusing on fire spells for our first lessons.

It seems your sense of fun is specifically tied to it being at the expense of another, not yourself. But you are correct, I will be teaching Rin not to use her spells on other humans, unless it is absolutely necessary. Magic, or the abilities of Enlightened in general, really ought not be used to harm.

[ sure, that's what a decent Magus would say. and Jack can believe Waver or Rincewind when they tell him they're not like other Magi - not just because of their incompetence, but because they explained their backgrounds. but this guy? the way he acts, and talks, and his story— none of it really screams "you can totally trust this Mage not to ruin your life again". ]

I've never been there. The stories are troubling, but it could be that that place is my home. Was, anyway. I have no memories of my past, but I have a life here now that I will not leave.

is "troubling" all you have to say about the stories, or are you being cagey again

I don't judge things I have not seen with my own eyes. Stories are just that, it's the duty of a scholar to find the truth behind the tales.

If that's what you want to believe. The actions of a few do not necessarily implicate an entire populace. Matters are typically much more complex than that.

i'm not saying everybody in sanctuary is guilty, but is troubling SERIOUSLY the only thing you think about what happened????

[ not a single person at the discussions had been that callous. they had sympathised as much as they could, promised Jack that his anger was justified and he only had to stay calm for the sake of diplomacy - what kind of person hears about this and calls it troubling? this is exactly what he was worried about, that a person like that would be teaching Rin, because what if she ends up the same way? Magi seriously don't care about them, do they? ]
