Action on the Tropical Island

[It isn't often that Lenna leaves Union for extended periods of time, but this week she's off on a training trip to the Tropical Island just south of the city.  It's been a few weeks since her second evolution, and she's been anxious to see what her new abilities can do - especially since she seems to have spontaneously developed a secondary typing as Dragon.  Some of her powers still involve the Water type, though, so she's dressed in a swimsuit as she walks along the beach in preparation for her training.  Anyone on the island might see her in one of a few situations.]

1. [Trying out the familiar first, Lenna swims out into the water a short way, kicking out with her legs and floating on her back for a few moments as she concentrates.  There's a bluish glow from her body, and within moments a huge tidal wave kicks up under her, lifting her up and out of the water.  She does her best to balance on top of the wave using her mastery over the Water type, but it doesn't work so well the first few times and she ends up either falling into the water and washing ashore, or losing her balance and faceplanting into the sand.  After a few attempts, though, she manages to stand up on top of the wave, riding it in and hopping off onto the sand once it's finished rolling in.]

2. [Next, she's going to work on her new Dragon type abilities.  And for that, she's going to need a sparring partner.  Summoning Kelger the Lucario from her Warp Band, Lenna strikes a rarely seen fighting pose, her fingernails lengthening into full-on draconic claws as she rushes forward to unleash a series of incredibly strong attacks.  The seasoned warrior Fighting type does his best to block her where he can without hurting her in return, and the attacks that do land are dampened by his secondary Steel typing.  Any lingering damage to either of them left at the end is taken care of with a quick Heal Pulse.  This is recognizable to anyone familiar with the Dragon type as an Outrage attack, but curiously, Lenna has somehow managed to avoid the confusion effect that normally hits after the attack ends.]

3. [After the training is over, it's time to relax a little.  Lenna has found a nice spot under one of the palm trees to lay out a towel and relax for a while, stretching out in the sun and enjoying the feel of the warmth on her skin.  She's got her Pokemon out to play and relax a little too - Kelger the Lucario, Alexander the Dragonite, Bartz the Jumpluff, Needle the Yanmega, and Krile the Skitty can all be found frolicking about in various areas nearby as Lenna relaxes.  She's counting on some nice quiet time alone, especially since she's dressed in what she would still think of as something a little embarrassing, but of course life rarely works out that way.]

[As chance would have it, Asemu and Rise's Secret Base was situated on the tropical island. Thus, while he was outside tending to the area around it, to make sure it didn't get too cluttered, he heard noises. Taking to the air, he follows them toward the beach, where he sees Lenna sparring with her Lucario.

Asemu keeps quiet and watches for a moment. He's interested to see what she can do now, and takes notice of the attack and how it doesn't affect her the same way it does most Pokémon.

Finally, when there's a lull in the action, Asemu lands, his feet making a faint noise as they hit the sand. From there he walks closer.]

Testing out your new powers?

Ah! A-Asemu...!

[Lenna hadn't expected company. She whirls around in place to face him, glancing down at her claws and hiding her hands behind her back as she stands bolt upright. And then she glances down at her swimsuit and starts to fidget. No one was supposed to see any of this!]

Y-yes... I'm here training with Kelger.

[second_destiny]

Hey, hey, it's all right.

[He doesn't want to see her panic. He wants her to calm down, really.]

And, ah. Yeah. Looks pretty intense. I was watching a bit from the sky. Seems like you've already got a decent grasp on your abilities.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[She does calm down after a moment or two. Lenna has been a somewhat slow adopter of newer fashions.]

It feels very natural, for some reason. I can't really explain why.

[second_destiny]

Probably because it's your type. I was the same way when I learned how to fly.I just needed a little practice and I was good.

...Though in my case it was sink-or-swim.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Sink or swim? What happened?

[second_destiny]

Ah, well...

[Asemu scratches his cheek and diverts his gaze.]

I, uh. Kinda evolved as I was falling towards a pit of magma.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Oh my goodness! How did that happen? Why were you so close to something like that?

[second_destiny]

Somebody got stuck in the volcano. I was trying to get them out.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Lenna gasps, hands covering her mouth.]

That's terrible! But you must have saved them if you evolved at the right time, right...?

[second_destiny]

[He nods.]

The rope I was descending from snapped, and I evolved in midair. I saved myself, and then the trainer who was trapped by letting her climb on my back.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[And she sighs, letting the breath out again.]

That's a relief... I'm glad everyone was safe.

[second_destiny]

Well, we'd have to be. Otherwise I wouldn't be standing here right now. But it was definitely an experience I'll never forget.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Oh, yes, that's true...

[She looks a little embarrassed at getting so caught up in the story.]

Yes, that's certainly the sort of thing that leaves an impression.

[second_destiny]

Um, anyway, did you want another partner?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

I'm still just learning, so you'll have to go easy on me.

[second_destiny]

That shouldn't be too hard -- double resistance. Most of my attacks are fire-based.

[Then he lifts himself off the ground, the sand beneath him dispersing from the amount of force required to do such a thing.]

But it'll be good to learn how to fight an opponent who can fly, yeah?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

That's true. And Kelger knows Heal Pulse, so he can make sure I'm all right.

[taudriver]

[Takuto lets out a low whistle]

Wow, very impressive.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Oh! Ah... thank you very much.

[Lenna flushes lightly, bowing. She didn't know she had an audience.]

[taudriver]

How did you manage not to get confused after all that?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

I'm not sure... maybe that's part of my evolution too?

[taudriver]

It sounds pretty useful. Were you looking for a training partner?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

You mean... besides Kelger here?

[The Lucario crosses his arms, grunting.]

[taudriver]

I'm a pretty good martial artist, it might be good practice.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Kelger remains quiet, but squints suspiciously.]

Kelger, it's all right. He's only offering to help.

[Another grunt.]

I'm sorry, he's very protective. I'd be happy to learn from you, ah...

[She never got a name.]

[taudriver]

Takuto. Takuto Tsunashi. And don't worry about going all-out with your Dragon attacks. I won't be in any danger.

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

It's nice to meet you, Takuto. My name is Lenna Tycoon.

[A name he may or may not recognize as one of the noble families.]

[taudriver]

[Nope! Archipelago boy has no idea!]

Do you prefer to spar with someone who's barehanded or with weapons? I can do either.

I've never really done this sort of thing before now. All of my Enlightened abilities until my second evolution were Water type, and longer range. What would you recommend?

[taudriver]

We can stick with barehanded for now, that's fine. If you need something a bit more challenging, then we'll look at other options.

[Be that as it may he does appear to be completely unarmed. He takes off his jacket, revealing a white tank top underneath, and takes a guarded stance.]

Ready when you are!

[Lenna's already just wearing a swimsuit, so she's all set to go. She drops into a fighting stance of her own, though it looks far less natural as she isn't quite used to it yet.]

All right, I'm ready!

[taudriver]

Let's go!

[Takuto runs in and launches a skillful punch at her midsection.]

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Lenna's Lucario had been going a little easy on her so she can get used to fighting slowly. Unfortunately, it's only her first day, and she hasn't learned how to dodge all that well. She takes the punch full-on, letting out a groan as the wind is knocked out of her.]

Ooomph!

[taudriver]

[Wait what she was supposed to dodge that! Takuto jumps back surprised]

A-are you all right!?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Kelger noticeably flinches, but holds himself back.]

I'm fine! I just haven't been doing this for very long...

[taudriver]

A-aahh. Did you need me to go a bit slower?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

M-maybe... I'm sorry.

[taudriver]

It's OK! Uhhh... haaaa?

[Punch two! Half the speed]

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Ah!

[Lenna hops to the side.]

...I did it!

[taudriver]

Good job! Did you want to try a bit faster?

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

Yes! I'll be ready for it this time.

[taudriver]

Here we go!

[75% speed!]

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Lenna tries the dodge again, but doesn't quite make it all the way. She does, however, have the presence of mind to bring her arm up to physically block the punch instead.]

[taudriver]

[Takuto pulls the punch at the last second to at least mitigate the blow. Being a God of War and Fighting type, he doesn't want to hurt her if he can avoid it... especially after the first punch]

[my_father_is_a_tycoon]

[Lenna is forced back a bit from the blow, but manages to stay upright this time. And now it's time for her to attack back as she reactivates Outrage, dashing forward with Dragon-type claws.]

[taudriver]

Now we're talking!

[Takuto will attempt to knock aside the claws with his fist, not being particularly concerned if they do hit him. Fairy typing and all.]

Haaaaah!

[Lenna's just going to keep on going, since Outrage is a multi-turn attack anyway. It's good practice to see if she can land the hits.]
