Another time, another place...
As you descend into the newly formed tunnels, a strange feeling surrounds you. Driving deeper, a strange green light encircles you, pushing you unconsciously deeper and deeper into the swirling mists. There’s a power here, ancient and unfathomable. And then, light. But when you emerge, things have suddenly changed.
Any vestige of your Enlightened powers are gone. Your clothes are different, your equipment is different, even your Warp Band is gone! Any changes the process may have brought upon your body is also gone, you are now, fully and truly human. In its place, strapped securely to your belt, are a collection of red-and-white balls. You know instinctively what these are. The heretical tools of the lost age. Pokeballs…
[OOC Notes: ALL Enlightened powers, form changes, and other associated abilities will be gone for the duration of this log. Shifters may choose either to enter as a human, retaining their Pokemon team, or as a speech-capable Pokemon, although speaking in front of other humans may cause alarm and suspicion. Any Enhanced equipment is also altered, it is now entirely technological and may appear quite advanced. Unless specified in the intro log, your clothes will likely be reflective of more modern US attire or army combat gear, depending on the situation.
As always, we will be progressing the log at least once every 24 hours to keep things moving. If you have any further questions, please ask here.
When making your first comment in a thread, please list your character's Pokémon team.]

Dogi pounds his fist into his hand. The Flareon, conversely, sighs -- before leaping closer, rolling up a little. That is so the Golurk can grab the Flareon in hand. The huge Pokemon does a quick turn at the waist, building up momentum, and then throws the Flareon through the air. Adol lets out a howl -- it would be a whoop, if he was human -- and goes flying towards another of the guns.
As he does, fire shoots up around him. He comes down at the gun and the crew from the side -- and tries to smash into with a fiery blast on impact!

[Trying not to think too hard about her heretical use of forbidden technology, Chie calls her Garchomp back into its Pokeball. It probably is honestly safer in there right now. And seeing the Aggron falling back but still active, she decides it's best not to take chances and draws out another.]
Wasabi! Stay on the Aggron, and if it attacks, move to intercept!
[The impulsive Blaziken isn't completely happy with that set of orders and would rather be kicking a hole through the great beast, but it knows who the boss is ever since that fight in the forest and complies.]
Guan Yu, keep holding the others back! We need to give Lucca and Estelle a shot!
[Back to Iron Defense as the sword and shield cross in front of it. Chie glances to Morgiana briefly during all of this, nodding over to her with a smile. They'll make it through.]

The pokemon nodded lightning crackling from it's gem, jumping out towards the steel pokemon's plated hide - and Sinbad starts running towards it, confident that while big pokemon can be deceptively fast, that they would need time to get up to said speed - and he could outrun it during the warm up, especially if the Thunder Wave hits. He hops back at about the half way point, keeping light on his feet, ready to run or flip out of harm's way. "What's the matter, Scrappy? Are your joints all rusted up?"
No one needed to understand Pokemon to know that his Dratini is now more or less screaming for Sinbad to get away from the Aggron before he gets himself hurt.

"There's something wrong with these pokemon..."

The Aggron falls to its knees under the effect of the Thunder Wave. Parts of its plate start to disintegrate, as if its entire cellular structure is coming apart at the seams.
Unfortunately, there's one gun left. It fires a massive slug which smashes into a huge psychic barrier. Mewtwo can be seen, its wounds slowly closing as it feeds psychic energy into its very body. However, it is clearly in pain, and it does not appear to have much energy left. A barrage of strange Pokeballs is launched directly at it, but they all explode in midair, snapped apart by Mewtwo's psychic energy. The last gun prepares to fire again, while some of the uniformed people have noticed the party's defiance and are shouting and waiving, preparing to descend on them.

[Chie turns around to see the advancing Team Rocket troops. She's not exactly happy about the fact that they've managed to weaken Mewtwo so much, but a part of her is grateful that the clone Pokemon army has been weakened as a result. Fighting on two fronts would be hard even for her and Morgiana.]
You ready, Morgiana? Let's break through their line!
[All the same, Chie's spirit won't be broken by this. They only have to hold out a little longer, and then it'll all be over. Striking a fighting pose, and with Guan Yu and Wasabi at her side, Chie is ready to take on the world right now.]

She turns to look at the ones charging. She whistles -- a signal for Adol to come back, but the Flareon will need some time to cross the field. She can't get to the last cannon yet. She glances towards to Lucca. "I don't think I've got anything that can hit the one that's about to fire! Any ideas?"
Dogi, in the meantime, turns towards the soldiers preparing to descend on them. He lowers a shoulder -- and then takes off in a run. The huge Golurk tries to ram into the first of the soldiers coming at them, to buy some time for Morgiana and Chie to do their thing.
"Lurk!"

But with Pangoro on one side and Chie on the other, she felt a warm confidence that more than made up for her sudden lack of strength. She needed them. In time maybe she could be needed by them too, she told herself. She prepared to fight against humans, this time.
"But I won't let you down. Either of you."

"I can't reach it. But you know what? Have your Golurk toss Synchrite at it. He loves technology, specifically messing with it. And the more complicated? The better. Synch? I need you to trust me, and when you're close enough fry the control panel on that gun okay?"
The Magnemite's eye widens as it looks at her, a cheerful beep of comprehension following. He can do that! He can do that really, really well!

But the approach of the Rockets got him moving on instinct, putting himself between them and the Aggron. "Thunder wave everyone of them that gets in your range!" He calls out to Badr.

It is our fate, tools created by the hands of man. Incomplete. Unwanted.
Although its face is impassive and unmoving, it seems its expression softens a bit.
You are different. I have not felt this in a long time. Humans from a time and place far removed from here. Union... I think they call it...
Another barrage of Pokeballs flies, and this time, one strikes Mewtwo on the back before it can be destroyed. It holds its wavering form for a few brief moments and unleashes a wave of psychic energy. The last thing the party sees before the world spirals out of control is its body converting into energy and flying into a Pokeball, which snaps shut with a certain finality.
When the world regains balance, the team is once again in the cave they had entered, the new path revealed by the earthquakes. They hear a single last thought echoing within their memories.
I might like to see it someday...

Her voice is a little shaky. Mewtwo's voice is still in her mind, those words weighing on her.
"Everyone okay?"

The young man groaned as he moves to sit up, and Badr immediately sprang into his lap. "Ooooow..." He groaned as he went get his bearings. "Yeah, kind of sore -" Sinbad gasped as the waves started crashing over him in full force.
"I'm fine. I'm fine now." He breathes. "But - the past, that was the past wasn't it."
no subject
"I'm fine. And yeah, Sinbad. That was definitely the past. No way was that the future, and no way that was anywhere like home. That Mewtwo thing...he didn't mess around. It had to be another god."
At that mention, Gato squeezes tighter.
"It's okay, buddy. He's just like Articuno, he wasn't gonna hurt you."

Oh right, Pancham! She spun around until she located her friend, who was still enormous. He towered over her now, but there was no mistaking him even so. She leaned against him until her mind settled.

[And still standing close by Morgiana and her Pangoro. Sensing her friend's confusion and continued slight unease, she lifts a hand to place atop her shoulder once again, squeezing gently to let her know she's there.]
So... yeah. That sure was a thing.
