Another time, another place...
As you descend into the newly formed tunnels, a strange feeling surrounds you. Driving deeper, a strange green light encircles you, pushing you unconsciously deeper and deeper into the swirling mists. There’s a power here, ancient and unfathomable. And then, light. But when you emerge, things have suddenly changed.
Any vestige of your Enlightened powers are gone. Your clothes are different, your equipment is different, even your Warp Band is gone! Any changes the process may have brought upon your body is also gone, you are now, fully and truly human. In its place, strapped securely to your belt, are a collection of red-and-white balls. You know instinctively what these are. The heretical tools of the lost age. Pokeballs…
[OOC Notes: ALL Enlightened powers, form changes, and other associated abilities will be gone for the duration of this log. Shifters may choose either to enter as a human, retaining their Pokemon team, or as a speech-capable Pokemon, although speaking in front of other humans may cause alarm and suspicion. Any Enhanced equipment is also altered, it is now entirely technological and may appear quite advanced. Unless specified in the intro log, your clothes will likely be reflective of more modern US attire or army combat gear, depending on the situation.
As always, we will be progressing the log at least once every 24 hours to keep things moving. If you have any further questions, please ask here.
When making your first comment in a thread, please list your character's Pokémon team.]

Takuto clenches his fists. He notices twin swords are strapped to either side and he surreptitiously moves his hands to their hilts, just in case things go south from Right's explosion.

Is that why you're here? I thought it strange I didn't recognize you.
[His eyes flicker up to the giant shadow in the sky, dull with hatred.]
City after city razed to the ground. Thousands dead - perhaps millions. Only a fool would still cling to those notions.
We were wrong from the start. These are monsters. Nothing more, nothing less. And if you are so willfully blind - then go. Run and beg for mercy. See how far it will get you. When you join the corpses of the children lining the streets, perhaps you'll have learned your lesson.
[His words are punctuated by another screech - above them, Lugia beats back the gunfire and draws in a great breath.]
Get out of my sight. We will stop Lugia today... before it commits another atrocity.

Isamu and I can help.
[ Lead the way, Honoka! ]

[Right's retort gets cut off as the scientist sneers at them. And as the scientist continues, it slowly dawns upon Right that this sounds far too much like the Cataclysm to be a coincidence. Was this a warning? Or did they somehow end up in the past? But as the guy spoke about stopping Lugia from killing more people, Right remembers one particular camping trip:
"Children," Grandpa told Right and his four childhood friends as they settled around the campfire for the evening, "there is one thing you must always keep in mind regarding any encounters with any Pokemon."
"What's that, Grandpa?" Young Right inquired, looking up from the four sausages he was already roasting.
"If a Pokemon attacks you, it's usually for a very good reason. Either you are intruding on its territory, or interrupting its meal. Or worse, you have done something that it finds personally offensive. So, if you wish to be friends with Pokemon, always do your best to never make it want to attack you, even if its unintentional. Otherwise, you will always end up hurt - or worse..."
Any traces of panic is now gone from Right, fists clenching by his side as he stands straight up and stares at the scientist in the eye.] You wanna know why they're killing off humans? Why they're so angry that they're wrecking our homes and taking the lives of our children? It's because we pissed them off! We got too high and mighty with how we treated Pokemon - thinking that they're nothing more than dumb creatures, thinking that we as a race are above them...stupidly thinking that we're even more powerful that the Gods! And it's all because of these stupid things! These damn Pokeballs! [Right immediately tosses his Pokeballs as far away from him as possible. No, never again would he even dare to think of wielding one of those heretic contraptions.]
That is why they're so angry that they wanna kill us. And because assholes like you didn't listen, innocent people are dying. And not just humans - Pokemon are getting killed, too! [Right remembers that part of the legend, as it was told to him by his family and elders. So much wanton death on both sides...] Plus, you're pissing off Lord Lugia even more by keeping his friend captive! If you value human life so much, why did you go do a stupid thing like this and put all these guys in mortal danger?! And not just their lives are at risk for no good reason, but those of their Pokemon friends, too!
And if you think I'm wrong, then you're wrong! I know that Pokemon aren't a bunch of dumb beasts! They got brains and hearts and souls. They laugh and cry and get angry like we do. And more importantly...they're my friends. And if you think I'm going to turn my back on my friends and leave them to die? You're far more stupid than anyone I know...including myself. [All five members of Right's team stares at Right, his words sinking into their brains. Soft Steel's glowing aura fades a bit as they all gained the light of understanding in their eyes.]
We're not leaving. And we're not gonna let Lord Lugia die, either. He's here and fighting us because we took his friend captive, and he's very angry about that. If you value all these lives here, and all the remaining lives, you let his friend go, and we all apologize to them both for being such asses about how we humans have treated Pokemon.
And if you don't do that...we will. [He may not have his powers, and he cannot understand what any Pokemon is saying...but he's still got his Imagination. And he's forming an image in his head on how they're gonna get that blue friend of Lugia's free...and survive at the same time.]

[They still don't have time, though. They have to act quickly or people are going to die. He let's Right say his piece but he's pulling him back towards the others afterward.]
[His voice is low.]
Right, let's worry about getting the bird free. If we tell them what we're going to do then they're going to try that much harder to stop us.
[He looks towards the others with a frown. This was crazy. How on earth were they going to make it out of this in one piece? Though, whether it will work or not, he has an idea of what the other three are up to.]
You guys sure about this?

Let's go.
[He raises Arcanine's Pokeball, ready to go when the team is]

[It's not until Hayato turns to her that she squares her shoulders. She glances back at Takuto and Sanae, and then back to him, and nods once, resolute. There were a lot of dangers, a lot of risks. But the entire reason she was here, had gone along on this trip, was to get a real taste of battle. To learn how to act, to help. If they didn't do something, more people were going to die, and maybe even that shrieking God above them. She didn't know what freeing the glittering blue bird in the block of ice would do, if it would turn and immediately freeze them all on their tracks or start up a battle with Lugia and wipe everything out, or if it would be grateful to those willing to have an open mind and an open heart. She had no idea.]
We have to try.
[And then she turns to Takuto and Sanae again, and she bolts.]
no subject
But she can't focus on that right now. Watching Honoka and Takuto, Sanae breaks into a sprint as soon as Honoka does, splitting off to the right. She holds Isamu's pokeball firmly in her hand, ready to release him at a moment's notice.
She only hoped that Lugia would either ignore them, or only target one. Preferably not Takuto or Honoka. ]

What are you talking about, you delusional --
[Time's up.
Aeroblast hits with all the force of a truck, blasting the entire field with hurricane-force winds. Most of the soldiers were wise enough to take cover as soon as they saw Lugia's inhalation; the few that weren't are tossed through the air like leaves, landing with sickening cracks. At the center of the field, several things happen simultaneously - the ice block tips over and crashes to the floor, sending cracks running through it, the scientist is blown off the platform in the blink of an eye, and the party from Union... well, they're probably going to be joining him as they don't seem to have defended themselves in any way.
At the very least, Right's tirade appears to have accomplished distracting the scientist long enough for him to forgo the common sense of taking shelter from the god.]
no subject
Whatever you do don't let go!
[He hated this. He hated it because if he was still altered, he wouldn't have had to break a sweat holding them to the platform. He could hold the whole team together. He hated this because that wretched body should never be something he would find regret in losing, and here he was. Cursing his humanity in the face of a deadly situation that he had no idea they could make it out of, shouting as the winds strained and pulled his stupid human muscles while he stubbornly held them in place.]
[He had to hope that the other three were resourceful enough to be okay. If they died, he would never forgive himself.]
no subject
Yami, for once, is the first of Right's Pokemon to react to the assaulting winds. He grips Right's feet with both of his hand-y ears. Rick, being closest to the Bunnelby, grabbed onto Yami's back legs. Following up is Soft Steel, one paw gripping Rick's right leg while the other one gripping one of Kisetsu's front legs.
The poor Deerling, however, howls as Vlad hangs on by sinking his teeth into one of the former's hind legs in order to keep from being blows away on such a gusting attack. Granted, the Zubat can still fly afterwards, but who knows how far away he would've been carried from the area, being small and light like he is?
...besides, he needs strength, and blood via Leech Life always gives him said strength...]

[And then she swapped the Pokeball in her palm out for the one that contained Ariera, her Tropius, and as she somersaulted through the air and hooked an arm around his neck she reached out, aiming to grab hold of the scientist, as well. Argumentative as he may have been, she didn't want their distraction from his own self-preservation to hurt or kill him.]

Looking up to see Takuto, she managed to get a bit of her composure back, she held tightly onto him with one arm, grabbing another Pokéball. ]
Isamu, Fire Wheel!
[ Summoning the Typhlosion, it roared before throwing the fiery blast at the block of ice. ]
no subject
For the time being, the soldiers remain quiet, pressed flat against the ground. Which leaves visible...]
What are you doing?
[The scientist that Honoka miraculously snatches out of mid-air wheezes out a few words as he struggles for breath. Honoka and Ariera will have found the winds far too strong to even think of flying, but the three of them will end up crashing into a tree - probably as soft a landing as could be asked for.]
You imbeciles! That's Articuno - the beast that froze the eastern islands! You're dooming thousands to death - humans and Pokemon alike!
[Speaking of doom, though, Lugia has caught on to the only creatures still moving in the area - and it certainly doesn't pleased with the results. With another shriek, it dives low to the ground and slams its talons against the earth, sending an avalanche of rocks at Arcanine and Typhlosion. An Ancient Power. Very naturally, it appears as if they're attempting to charboil the frozen bird, its greatest weakness...
But even so, the cracks in the ice are definitely much larger now.]
no subject
[His heart freezes, though, as Lugia suddenly turns to attack his friends' Pokemon with that Ancient Power.] Oh, crap--he misunderstood! We gotta distract him before he really hurts them! [He can't get the god to Follow Him...
But he does know who can.] Rick! Draw Lord Lugia's attention to us! Keep him distracted from the others until they freed his friend - Articuno! [That last part was added upon hearing the scientist's outcry.]
[Rick takes one good look at Lugia, gulps down a big breath...and attempts to make the God focus on him/them by singing a little song he picked up from the radio not too long ago. He's even throwing in a little impromptu dance to help enhance the idea of "Follow Me~!"]
no subject
[She doesn't look at the scientist as she watches Right try and gain Lugia's attention, climbing onto Ariera and riding him down to the ground before heading off toward the others. Savior, she hoped Right knew what he was doing.]
no subject
Takuto releases Golurk who leaps in front of the Ancient Power. Hoping desperately his Pokemon will be able to at least weather the attack with its typing advantage and defend Rubis so it can help free Articuno.
"Samehk! Help out! We need to free Articuno and then get out of here!"
Samehk complies, turning its own flamethrower in the ice.
no subject
The ice continues to crack as the scientist continues to moan.]
Reason?! Of course they have a reason! It's nothing more than to destroy us all! Where have you been since the war began, under a rock?!
[Still, there's... not much he can do while hanging from a branch in a tree. In the meantime, Lugia wastes no time in attempting to protect its frozen servant once more, as it circles about again to -- ]
Eiiii-eeeeeiiiiyyyy?!!
[become distracted by a really weird song???
It's a noble gesture on Right's part, but drawing the attention of an angry god may not be a wise course of action. It is Right, Hayato, and their Pokemon's turn to bear the brunt of Lugia's wrath as it spirals rapidly through the air, creating a swirling vortex to draw them in - Whirlwind. But at the same time...]
Now!
[A cry from the remaining soldiers as they see that Lugia is distracted by these odd interlopers. Whatever they were doing, the primary objective was still to take down the god. But as their grenades and rockets fly through the air...]
Krrrrrrrrrrk!
[The ice shatters explosively, sending shards flying in every direction and instantly, the temperature of the entire field seems to plummet to subzero temperatures. In the air, every single projectile explodes simultaneously as they freeze and their innards shatter.
Once again, a palpable sense of fear and awe grips the onlookers as Articuno emerges from the shattered ice, rising slowly upwards towards its master. There is a certain majesty about its movements...]
no subject
[But that's still a whole lot better than getting dragged into that whirlwind, to which Hayato was close to grabbing Right again to make sure they didn't get swept up. Instead he finds himself dragging Right back down again so to avoid flying shards. When the coast is clear he looks up, finding the source of the explosion.]
[He's met with a whole different kind of awe than what he got with Lugia. Horrified and yet...]
By the Red Giant's flaming ass.
no subject
And for the second time today, he finds himself being dragged to the ground by Hayato. Part of him is really grateful that the photographer came along with him and his friends. Especially since any potential damage from both the Whirlwind and the sudden appearance of flying frozen shards has been reduced to a few minor cuts, both on Right and on the three Pokemon he's still holding: Rick, Yami, and Vlad.
Meanwhile, Soft Steel, upon realizing that Flying/Ice combination, has copied Hayato's action by covering as much of Kisetsu as he could in order to save the Grass Pokemon from that the Riolu assumes to be certain death. He growls and grunts from being hit, but is otherwise still conscious.
And once the coast is clear, this came out of Right's gaping mouth:] Whoah...he's amazing...

Takuto recalls Rubis and Tauburn, urging Samehk to move them away from the raging gods.
no subject
[Or, for all they knew, they could suddenly be facing the wrath of two angry Gods, trying without their abilities to communicate that they were on their side.]
[She slid off Ariera's back and pat him in thanks, her eyes never leaving the two Gods as she moves back to join Hayato and Right.]
Are you two all right?
no subject
In the next moment, it opens its beak and tosses its head - a beam of blue light strafes rapidly across the field, freezing everything it touches in the blink of an eye, including a half-dozen instant soldier popsicles. The Ice Beam comes perilously close to Hayato, Honoka, Right, and company, but misses by about 10 feet. Before them, a line of icicle stalagmites shoot up from the ground... a beautiful sight, if not a deadly one.
In the meantime, high above, Lugia appears to be retreating slightly from the battlefield, satisfied with the rescue of its servant. Articuno seems fully capable of dealing with the remaining soldiers. As its immense form begins to ascend, a strange melody can be heard across this doomed battlefield, borne in by the winds of the storm....
And even higher yet, two faint shimmering gleams can be seen appearing in the sky - one blazing red, one electrifying yellow.
...It really is time to go, though.]
no subject
[Right's Pokemon, however, are much more practical in their reaction. The three that are closest to him attempt to tug him away from the raging deities - Vlad via jacket collar, Rick and Yami via the bottom back of his jacket. Soft Steel, still looking pretty hurt, rides up to Right on Kisetsu and helps the others by tugging on one of their human's hands. He's not about to lose his stupid human to a raging God.]
