Another time, another place...
As you descend into the newly formed tunnels, a strange feeling surrounds you. Driving deeper, a strange green light encircles you, pushing you unconsciously deeper and deeper into the swirling mists. There’s a power here, ancient and unfathomable. And then, light. But when you emerge, things have suddenly changed.
Any vestige of your Enlightened powers are gone. Your clothes are different, your equipment is different, even your Warp Band is gone! Any changes the process may have brought upon your body is also gone, you are now, fully and truly human. In its place, strapped securely to your belt, are a collection of red-and-white balls. You know instinctively what these are. The heretical tools of the lost age. Pokeballs…
[OOC Notes: ALL Enlightened powers, form changes, and other associated abilities will be gone for the duration of this log. Shifters may choose either to enter as a human, retaining their Pokemon team, or as a speech-capable Pokemon, although speaking in front of other humans may cause alarm and suspicion. Any Enhanced equipment is also altered, it is now entirely technological and may appear quite advanced. Unless specified in the intro log, your clothes will likely be reflective of more modern US attire or army combat gear, depending on the situation.
As always, we will be progressing the log at least once every 24 hours to keep things moving. If you have any further questions, please ask here.
When making your first comment in a thread, please list your character's Pokémon team.]

From there, he's able to take in the scenery. His heart clenches and he's stunned uselessly there on the ground until someone is telling them to run. He snaps out of it.
He's up on his feet again and running, but not in the direction that soldier probably intended. He's running towards the source of the noise, towards those voices of people who needed help. He's run away his whole life, like hell he's doing it now.

But it’s that stranger, the man who’d had the wings, that breaks that spell. Maybe it’s stupid, maybe it’s suicide, but there are kids who need help. That single, stupidly blind act on Eiji’s part galvanized her muscles. Without a thought, she activated her Pokeballs and brought out the Pokemon she thought would be most useful. Lillith the Rapidash, Bereth the Noivern, and Cassandra the Absol. The others, she reasoned, would be safer in the Pokeballs given the heat. A Venusaur and that tiny little Helioptile would both have more trouble she felt, but perhaps there would be a point later where they could help. Either way, she’s eternally glad that Teddie was left behind. His punishment, it seemed, would be a blessing.
Hopping up onto the fire horse, she leaned in close and whispered an apology, stroking Lillith’s mane.
“Okay, we need to go, we have to move quickly. It’s…we can’t leave those poor children and their Pokemon…” And off she goes after Eiji, Rapidash hooves clacking as Cassandra’s keening wails trail behind them, the Dark type prophesizing a very obvious doom as she runs. The beating of wings is not far behind, the enormous dragon’s skreeeeee reverberating. They’re afraid too…but the kids and the Pikachu…they can’t leave them.

As soon as she sees Eiji foolishly dash forward alone and Yukiko speak about helping as well, she wastes absolutely no time. Koromaru and Cerberus can carry a few of the injured on their backs. But more than that, when they get closer to the scene where the heat is unbearable, she releases Skadi from her Pokéball, with an almost sneer of disdain for the cruel prison. "Skadi, use Icy Wind."
She looks over at Eiji and Yukiko. "Start trying to get the children out with our Pokémon. My Froslass will at least keep some of the worst heat off."
She is also ignoring the way Senri's ball is jiggling. The last thing she needs in this instance is the troublesome Oddish to make a scene.
[Mitsuru's team is Froslass, Arcanine, Houndour, Bulbasaur and Oddish.]

"All right guys, let's get the kids out of here. Don't try to be a hero, just make sure everyone's safe."
His team roars and shrieks in agreement before getting to work.

“You--you’re damn fools!” He screeches through tears, terror overtaking him as he trips over himself to get away. They would not be getting any help from him.
He would not get far. The creature, seeing the soldier run scared, dove back into the earth, moving through it like water, leaving torn asphalt in its wake. The soldier didn’t get far before the creature caught up to him and likely didn’t feel much pain when the ground came up to meet him, swallowing him whole.
He didn’t even get a chance to scream.
The streets were rough and uneven, and hard to traverse quickly. It was hard to tell who was alive and who was dead. Bodies littered the streets, and moans filled the air. Likely those who managed to get out were in hiding, or playing dead. Still, there were a few distinguishing features. Sobbing. Subtle movements. Things that could be noticed if one looked close enough. They would find survivors, although they were few and far between.
Another screech, and the sound of rock against rock. The air shimmered from the heat. It was close. The creature was close.

"Wisp! Help cool things down - use Icy Wind, too!"
A flash and the Castform appears - but without his prompting, it immediately shifts into a Forme he recognizes. It seems confused for a moment or two, and Lucas cuts it off before it can execute an attack.
"I see... Then go ahead and use Rain Dance!"
With a nod of affirmation, the small creature sends a beam of light up into the sky!
..................Nothing happens.
"The weather won't change...? N-Never mind, then just... just go with Icy Wind!"

Its like a thick fog that he doesn't quite snap out of until he hears Lucas directing his pokemon. He fumbles with the pokeballs on his belt, swallowing as he releases two. Hina appears at his side in a flustered flurry of feather, shrieking in alarm at what was going on. He finds that he can't calm her with his mind like he should be able to and instead he reaches out for her and holds her close to him for a few, selfish moments.
The next pokemon that is released is Yumi, a just as startled Glaceon.
"Yumi- go and help Wisp, please. Do what you can."
Alarmed by her trainer's state she actually complies instead of arguing. Yumi will trot over to the castform and assist with her own Icy Wind.

"Cassandra! Get her out of there!"
With another crooning wail, the Absol darts forward, scooping up the child by hooking her belt around a horn, and grabbing up a Pichu by the tail in her teeth before dashing away, twirling nimbly to get the kid onto her back. There's not a lot she can do, but Trainer said do it, so she will.
"Lilith...more! We have to get as many as we can out!"

Ezreal's Tyranitar, Gyrados and Metagross move to free the youth as Ezreal mounts Dragon's back and takes to the air, Spark by his side.
"Watch the ground! Dodge away when it comes up to attack!"

"I know it's hot, my little friend, but I need your help. There are children and other Pokémon trapped. We cannot leave them here or they will die. Please help move them with your vines."
The Bulbasaur looks conflicted before he nods and moves back, his two little vines snapping out to pluck anything not rock or fire out of the way.
Reluctantly, Mitsuru releases her Oddish as well. "Senri, please be careful." She pats the shiny leaves on her head and then turns her attention back to the two canines. "Koromaru, Cerberus, use Odor Sleuth to find as many of the damaged Pokémon and children and bring them back to me. Quickly."
She gets two nods before they're off to help with the rescue. Then, her attention is on her comrades. "Eiji-san, Yukiko, Lucas-san, Ezreal-san, we need to find a safe place for the injured as soon as possible. Can you see one from your vantage point, Ezreal-san?"

Lilith will not see much relief from Flash Fire, the heat nearly unbearable, even for Fire-types. Likewise, Icy Wind will do little to assuage the intense heat outside of the immediate areas around Wisp and Yumi. Still, Lucas and Eiji will find temporary relief, if only for a fleeting moment.
The child Cassandra scooped up suddenly moved, after laying still and seemingly lifelessly just a moment before. Her arms wrapped tightly around the Absol's neck as she braced against it, doing her best to hold back a scared sob. Pichu made no such pretenses, crying like the baby-mon that it was.
Tyranitar, Gyrados and Metagross likewise manage to find survivors, who cling to them like their very lives depended upon it.
Arcanine and Houndour will have a hard time blocking any type of heat, the very air around them feeling like fire. Bulbasaur and Oddish will find it difficult to even breathe without feeling a burning in their lungs.
High above, Ezreal may have a good vantage point--of the land burning. Smoke filled the sky to the east and south, and to the north, an intense storm raged on the horizon.
West of the city, he could see the setting sun, as well as something else. Calm.
After the second screech, the city fell silent, save for the ambient moans of the injured. The heat lingered like an oppressive force, growing in intensity with every breath they took.
Odor Sleuth would do little to find anyone, however, both Houndour and Koromaru would pick up a very distinct odor coming closer: Sulfur.

At the sight of the injured, Lucas instinctively tries to draw upon his healing power - to no avail, of course. But he is not the only one on his team with the ability to soothe injuries, and he fumbles for only a moment with the Pokeballs again before he summons a Togetic.
"Make a Wish for their health!"
The heat of the daylight is too oppressively bright to see, but a shooting star flashes overhead.
"Wisp! Please keep an eye out... for any caves we might be able to use for refuge when we're outside of the city. But keep them cool in the meantime!"
And with that, Lucas will run in the direction Ezreal indicates, followed by his floating partners

So he calls out Maki, his aerodactyl. "Help the others look for survivors. Carry as many as you can! Yumi, help him, please."
In the meantime he starts to head west like the others, picking up his pace so he doesn't fall behind, but not keeping his eyes off his pokemon. Hina stays stubbornly on his shoulder throughout.

Mitsuru snatches up Senri and breaks out into a run, Gabriel hot on her heels. She's not sure what Skadi's doing, and she's worried, but the Froslass does what she wants and the occasional blast of cold air from the ice types can be felt breaking up the sweltering, drying heat from the lava and the powerful Pokémon.

The sulfur smell seemed to be getting stronger, however, and, all at once, a great fissure opened in the street before them, a wall of lava spraying into the sky.
Rising from the earth fully, they would get a full glimpse of what was pursuing them. The air around it was stifling, oppressive, and difficult to breathe without choking. Groudon let out a primal scream, the lava veins coursing through its scales pulsing ominously.
Those in the air would not be spared from the onslaught, as Groudon's Precipice Blades began jutting from the earth, seemingly piercing the heavens at unimaginable speeds.

As the fissure opens in the earth before them, Lucas skids to an abrupt halt, windmilling for a moment or two before falling backwards.
"We're trapped! Piyo, use Light Screen - protect us from the fire!"
A shimmering wall of light springs to life around the group as the boy edges away slowly, gaping at the sight springing to life before them. There is a distinct resemblance to another creature of elemental fire they had met once upon the plains, sowing destruction indiscriminately along its path. But that creature... even that creature would be dwarfed by the monstrosity that's arisen before them. The murals in the temple... surely they had not accurately represented something of this magnitude.
"...L-Look out!"
His awe is interrupted by the first razor sharp spear of earth that explodes out from the ground - perilously close to his foot. As they continue to fly out fast and thick, he presses against the first stalagmite in the hopes that lightning won't strike in the same place twice. There's really not any time to do much else.

"W-What are...what should we do?!" Yukiko cried, as her eyes settled on the terrible beast, her body freezing with fear.
"Oh...Savior...I don't want to die..."

Nashor attempts to respond with a Hydro Pump, but the heat from Groudon's presence seems to destroy it before it even starts.
"Seriously!? Urgh fine, Ancient Golem! Earthquake! Keep it away from us!"
Tyranitar will attempt to counter the incoming attack with an Earthquake to disperse the damage and keep it at bay. Meanwhile, Ezreal on top of his Charizard will continue to try to drive everyone westward, toward (relative) safety.

Except, something's nagging at her. She turns her head to look behind her and sees her Froslass still far too close to the humongous god. She stops and puts the Oddish on the Bulbasaur's head and runs back.
"Skadi, run. Now!"
no subject
He pauses just barely by Yukiko, nudging her urgently from below her.
"Don't hesitate, keep running." He had no idea if they were getting out of this themselves, but if they stopped for any reason, it may have well have sealed their fate.
He turns his eyes to the sky, desperately looking for his Arial pokemon. Spotting him he barked out another desperate plea.
"Maki, use Hidden Power and take out those spikes!"
He hopes that does something to clear them a path.
no subject
Piyo's Light Screen keeps the singeing away, and Earthquake and Hidden Power help dislodge a few of the thinner spikes, clearing path. They will need to move fast, however, if they wish to avoid being burned or crushed to death.

The burning sensation he feels is a bit more than simply the flames continuing to sap at his strength. A great monster chasing after him and after those he wished to protect... and all he could do was run. Once before, someone had sacrificed themselves so that others could live. But this time, no amount of sacrifice could truly save them from something of this magnitude.
"Keep going..."
Lucas grits his teeth. Even his Pokemon... Any help he could give here derided entirely from them. He had avoided asking for more help earlier, but now... Was there really any choice?
"Ferro!"
In the blink of an eye, the 30 foot long monstrosity appeared, shattering straight through any blades already sticking out of the ground. It is apparent, almost immediately, that the intense heat isn't doing Ferro any favors as it begins to writhe uncomfortably.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I have to ask this! But please, I need your help. Just for a little bit. ...Break through everything in your path. We have to save these children... and escape."
Even as he speaks, he jumps onto his massive Pokemon's body, urging him forward.
"Everyone, if you're still on foot - get on!"
With any luck, Steelix can make it out of the ruined city before it's destroyed by a Fire or Ground-type attack.
