1st Melody [Video]

[Hello, warp band owners. This evening you're treated to a close up of a girl's face. She gives the feed a sort of suspicious look before she pulls back with a smile. If you pay close enough attention, you'll hear a guitar strumming softly in the background.]

Oh cool, it's on! [There's a pause as she thinks of what to say now that she's got her newly acquired warp band working. Meanwhile, an Emolga peeks over her shoulder, chittering quietly.]

Relax, it's not gonna hurt us. Anyway!~

I'm Xiu, and I guess I'll be staying in this Union place for a bit. [She pretty much beams as she continues.]

Everyone should totally stop by and listen to my music! It's pretty good. If you don't, you're really missing out.

Caldera was alright! I was there for a while.

[It's very definitely different! And people here seem to be less gung-ho about everything.]

I can't wait to see what it holds in store for me.

Yeah! And if you ever want a pal for, you know, looking around the city or going out exploring, just ask! I'm a Seeker, but...

[She gives a thumbs-up at the warp band.]

Plenty of time for that too!

That would be pretty cool.~

[She approves of this idea wholeheartedly. Having more friends would be nice.]

What do you seek?

Awe~some.

[There's a little sing-song in that. Then she looks only a little more serious.]

Stuff about the past! What happened, what people were like, knowledge... so we go into ruins and see what we find.

That sounds pretty cool.

Like ancient history stuff, huh? Have you found anything big yet?

One big thing and lots of small stuff--usually it's, y'know, pots and artifacts and stuff. But...

[She grins. She's proud of this.]

We found a city that no one had found before. A place called Refuge! It's under ground.

[It does sound pretty neat. It also sounds like it could possibly be a lot of work. Xiu just likes sitting back and chilling with her tunes.]

An underground city? Are there people there?

There were! They thought they were the only humans left until we showed up.

[She smiles. It's a bit more than pride. She also feels like she helped.]

They were so surprised...

[It sounds like Xiu's found another place to visit!]

I bet it was kind of lonely. [Xiu never imagined that there might not be other people out there.]

Mm-hm... They seemed shocked at first, but then they were so happy. It had to be a huge relief.

[She shakes her head.]

I can't imagine what it was like. I'd always known there were other cities, you know?

[Xiu just nods. Poor people.]

Me too. Sometimes it was a while before I came across anyone, but I knew they were out there.

Mm-hm... did you wander a lot, before you came here? Like a traveling musician?

I think so! It's a pretty big world, isn't it? That's what I am.~

[Maybe, Estelle thinks, they have different definitions of "a lot..."]

Caldera and Union are the only cities I've seen.

But I've met people here and there along the way. Usually real small groups, though.

Oh! Yeah, there's some small villages here and there. And travelers. I guess it's a little hard to move in big groups...

[Unless they're really big, like an army.]

Traveling's fun, though, huh?

Yup! Most of the people I came across were pretty happy to hear me play.

[Thankfully she didn't have the misfortune of running into Gigas's army.]

It is! I finally have a traveling companion now, too.

That always makes things better! Who're you traveling with?

It really does. Her name is Zapper.

[Or that's what Xiu is calling her anyway. As if on queue, a nervous looking Emolga peeks over her shoulder.]

Aw, she's a cute one! I've never seen one like her, either!

[She doesn't spend that much time in the archipelago.]

I hadn't seen one before either, but she's just so cute!

I know, right!? Where'd you meet her?

I was checking out...what was it called...

[Give her a moment.]

Oh, I think it was the breeding center? After they gave me this neat little thing- [She taps the warp band.]

-they pointed me there.

Oh! Yeah, yeah! I've been there--I mean, obviously. They gave you an egg?

[BIG THUMBS UP]

That's really nice of them! You gotta have a friend out there! And it makes it safer, too, if you run across some wild Pokemon.

Yup! I wasn't really expecting it.

[And she tried to turn them down.]

Most've them have been pretty cool so far. They like my music.
