[Good afternoon/evening, Union. This is Belbul. Belbul is a Carbink, and she has a Problem.

The Problem would be the (obviously foreign) boy sleeping on the bed next to her. They're in a low-end inn on the edge of Union and she is frankly worried. She pans the band out to the window, where the sign for the inn can be seen, back to the boy, and then she adds, very loudly:]

CARBINNNN!

[Translation?

"THORIN!"

Her cry wakes the boy up, who flails and looks around]

Belbul? Where's the fi--oh, hey, you got it to work! [He takes the band, yawning] Is this thing on?

Sort of both? My mother sent me down here to find him and keep him company. We're from Caldera.

[He perks up.]

You're Calderan! So am I, but I haven't been home in ages. Who's your uncle?

[Way to make him sputter, Kili. This is like the third time he's gotten that reaction.]

Red handed, it looks like. Yeah, that's me. I uh- I didn't realize my disappearance made such a stir back home.

[Seriously. He feels kind of like an ass being in Union at the moment. Not that he has family or anything, but.]

Well, as you see, I'm very much alive. Barely, though. I came to Union to kind of get my feet under me again.

Caldera too busy?

Something like that. I care too much about that place to be gone for too long, though.

It's calmed down a lot since last spring. I hope you get to go home soon.

Yeah, me too.

[It would be nice. Maybe. He's not sure how he feels about going home like he is. It almost feels like that person from before the war wasn't even him.]

Do you need help finding your uncle's place? If you want to surprise him I'll keep my mouth shut.

No, he's seen the broadcast. I'll be at his forge soon.

Oh-ho. Then I guess we'll meet sooner or later!

[youngestone]

Great! It'll be nice not being totally alone in this city.

It's a very friendly city! You'd probably not have that problem for very long, either way. Union seems to be a pretty interesting place so far.

It's cold, that much I do know. Much colder than Caldera.
