First Stone - Video

[Good afternoon/evening, Union. This is Belbul. Belbul is a Carbink, and she has a Problem.

The Problem would be the (obviously foreign) boy sleeping on the bed next to her. They're in a low-end inn on the edge of Union and she is frankly worried. She pans the band out to the window, where the sign for the inn can be seen, back to the boy, and then she adds, very loudly:]

CARBINNNN!

[Translation?

"THORIN!"

Her cry wakes the boy up, who flails and looks around]

Belbul? Where's the fi--oh, hey, you got it to work! [He takes the band, yawning] Is this thing on?

[ good aftereve, Belbul and stranger boy. this Flabébé you can see here is Minty, who's hijacking a Warp Band so that she can play with this video feature in her own time. and also thinks she might happen to know this person you're looking for. ]

[ "Thorin? I think I might know him - he's the one that smells like a burning library!" ]

...uh, Belbul, I think it's for you.

[He doesn't speak Poke. Belbul just takes the band.]

["Yes, that's probably him. Did he burn anything down?"]

Yes, it's definitely on.

[A young woman appears on the feed, all smiles and elegance. Beside her, however, is the very antithesis of it. An Ivysaur, wiggling happily and shaking his leaves.]

Were you having difficulty with it?

[Not that she can fix it, but she can certainly direct you to someone who can.]

[ Minty drifts a little from side to side, shaking her head. ]

Béeebé, flabébé-bé. Flabébé?

[ "No, but we thought he might have for a moment when we met him. Why are you looking for him?" ]

[Wow she's pretty. Kili smiles]

Never used one before is all. We don't have these in Caldera, at least not like this.

Carbin Bibi Biiiii!

["Thorin is Kili's uncle."]

I wish I understood what you were saying...

[Kili grins and then glares at Belbul]

We were supposed to surprise him, Belbul!

And you did. [He sighs. A fond exasperation his nephew knows well by now.]

Where's your brother?

[He's never known them to go anywhere seperately...]

Fili wanted to come, but he was needed back home for something and sent me ahead. You're not mad that I came on my own, are you? I found people who took me past the desert.

Flabé--?

[ "His uncle--?" oh no, that's very important! Minty floats for a while, looking between Belbul and Kili, before she pipes up again. ]

Bébé flabé! [ just a moment! she's going to go get someone who your friend can talk to, too!

and with that, she floats off for a minute or two before she returns with a pleased chirp, and a rather more human face picks up the band. ]

Now then, what do we have here--? Erm, hello there. Minty here was very insistent that I come and see who she was talking to, and seemed to think it was important, so - can I help you?

[Belbul shoves the band at Kili, who takes it. He is very confused]

I've no idea. Belbul and, uh, Minty were talking and she said the word that means "Thorin", my uncle? No idea why yours got you, though.

[Which he's going to assume is the case.]

Even though I wonder how you got a yes out of your mother.

[Belbul nods]

She's worried.

[Oh wonderful.]

She is, so Fili and I were supposed to come keep you company, only now it's just me. I was going to surprise you at wherever you're working, but Belbul decided that I couldn't.

[... so his sister has decided he needs company. Well. It could be worse.]

Speaking of, how were you going to find me if you don't even know your way around the city yet?

Ask around?

[Kili.]

I've got a pretty good sense of direction anyway.

[ ... why does this keep happening to him. Bilbo stiffens a little for a moment, before forcing a smile. ]

... ah. Yes, I think I might know why she fetched me, now. Your uncle and I have met, you see - do you happen to be looking for him?

[ Minty floats behind him, looking quietly proud. see, she's helpful! ]

[He's got half a mind to just give him the address and see if he shows up. Except, not really, no.]

I can come pick you up.

[...oh dear]

He didn't piss you off, did he? But yeah, we're looking for him.

No, it's fine! Just give me the address and I'll get there. Probably faster, anyway.

Erm-- well, that's certainly one way of putting it, but it was all a misunderstanding on my part, really. [ he's still embarassed about it, to be honest. but at least he's willing to cop to being wrong! ] All water under the bridge by now, at any rate, so no harm done.

[ in any case, family is important. ] I don't really know him that well, but I would be willing to help you look. With the network online, I shouldn't imagine it would take too long.

There's a Honedge watching the workshop, don't let him scare you off.

[Which means Thorin at least has a pokemon around again. So that's progress, right?]

That'd be great. I'd be surprised if he didn't pick up that broadcast, but I really could use the help finding him.
