7th Prayer: Some Time Away...[Video/Action]
Video
[Rei's Warp Band pops on today to show an exasperated looking priestess stalking away from the living quarters of Hikawa Shrine. It's a positively lethal look she's got going on, as if anything trying to stop her would probably wind up spontaneously combusting. And the reason for it becomes quite clear a moment later as a small green hand shifts the camera back to the house.
A Kanghaskhan stalks out, both her arms and her baby's laden with packs. Big, bulging backpacks and small shoulder ones stuffed to the gills. The big Pokemon lumbers after Rei, bellowing out irritable sounds that to Poke-Speakers will sound oddly like 'You can't just go off without your extra blankets! And don't you forget your hair-care stuff! And make sure to remember to bring enough clean clothes for a whole week, since you're not taking me so I can wash it for you!'
The camera pans back to Rei as she reaches the stairs to the shrine, where she's stopped to glare at the overly mothering Pokemon.]
Juno! I don't need all that! I can't carry half of it, and I've been traveling a lot longer than I've known you!
[More bellowing, this time indignant. Of course you do! And she knows that, but now that you've got her, she'll definitely have to mother you because Grandpapa Hino sure can't! Just...
And that? Sparks something in Rei. She stamps her foot and practically snarls, snatching one of the backpacks in exasperation.]
Fine! But you're not my moth- [The words die in her throat as she catches sight of the flashing Warp Band.] CERES!
[The Warp Band drops to the ground...]
Treecko! Tree!
[And scampering off across the courtyard goes the offending Pokemon, cackling to herself as Rei goes to grab the band.]
Sorry about that. Someone is going to get a lesson on Warp Band etiquette when I get back. [She glares back behind her at the retreating lizard.] If anyone needs me, I'll be on the southern island for the rest of the week. There won't be any fortune telling at Hikawa Shrine this week, unless my grandfather is feeling up to it.
[She grimaces at the thought...]
Though...only if you really need one.
Action: The Tropical Island
[Rei's pretty much down on the island all week with a small group of her Pokemon and Ami. It was something they'd planned, and something she really needed. The Enhanced had been a mess, and Rei was quickly finding herself overwhelmed with all the goings on around Union lately. And while Juno was nice, but she was stressful. And Ceres...that damn lizard...was so frustrating.
Yes, relaxation was definitely in order. And who better to do it with than someone else who also needed that rest and relaxation?
She'll welcome people coming to say hi, too. She just really, really needed a vacation...]

"We were all drawn to one another," perhaps especially to Usagi. "It's wonderful and I really like it." She didn't often get so open about her feelings regarding her friendships, preferring actions of kindness and concern over the talk when she could help it. She was blushing as she spoke, but smiling all the same.
"You know, I'm almost glad for having to experience the Enhanced," she wasn't pleased to see science used for cruelty, nor to see others so hurt and mutilated. "It's like when Usagi-chan got nearly kidnapped by those Drifloons, I know exactly the support and people I can count on to help me in any situation. Even when we were all apart dealing with the other Enhanced, I didn't feel as worried as I think I normally would have been."
no subject
"I felt the same way. Honestly, I feel like it would've gone better if we had all gone. Not...to say Robin-san and Cordelia-san didn't help, but...I feel like it would've been easier if we'd been able to do things our way without interference."
no subject
"In fact... perhaps it was best for us to split up as we did in that situation. While we are amazing altogether, there are certain personalities of the Enhanced I know we are not all equipped to handle properly." Her mind thought of poor Sierra and Haruka and Michiru's personalities. "Maybe it was luck we were so evenly matched for the Enhanced we encountered... or maybe it was the doing of the gods." She gazed out at the ocean, trying to calm her mind.
"I suspect that Robin-san and Cordelia-san would say the same about our involvement." Her stomach still churned at having to stop the attack sent at Sierra... but also not being able to predict and react to the shattering of the rocks in time.
"Rei... will you make a promise with me?"
no subject
She turns, eyes locked on, and asks in a querying tone "What would you like me to promise, Ami?"
Abandoning the honorific for the moment. That...said simply how important this was...
no subject
"And that... we will do all we can to protect our important people together?" they were simple requests but they held incredible weight. There were so many loved ones they shared together.
Rei really is a not nice girl sometimes
Regardless, the question is answered with a definitive nod.
"Absolutely. We should be the soldiers of mercy and kindness. I can't think it's right to just start things out by hurting people. And our important people...well...they probably need our help more than they'll admit. So we may have to do that without letting them know what we're doing."

She was soothing like a warm fire on a cold day but also incredibly dangerous like a forest fire.
Ami had experienced both sides, though she'd never been on the side of the latter. She smiled as she heard Rei agree. She leaned in even closer as she with a bright smile.
"Thank you, Rei. I knew I could depend on you for this."
no subject
She'd liked Ami's company since that first day in the park, when she'd tripped over Isidis. The little Sandile had grown up just as lazy as ever, not changing much, but Rei had seen a drastic shift in Ami. She was more willing to talk, more willing to share and be open, with her in particular. And it went too ways too. She felt like she could just be honest with the blue-haired girl, like there was nothing to hide. They'd seen the insides of one another's dreams, after all, those dark corners and skeletons...and they were still friends.
More than, really, if moments like this were to be believed.
"I'm glad I can depend on you too, Ami-chan," Rei said simply, leaning in just a bit closer, her psychic senses tingling a bit as Ami's closeness registers on a different level. And something just comes over her. A strong desire to kiss the other, an urge she doesn't really have a good reason to hold back on.
So, she just goes for it, taking it as a little bit if wish-fulfillment, in a way. Her lips are almost there anyway, their foreheads are practically touching. The worst that could happen was that her little bit of impulsiveness leads to an embarrassing moment that they'll get over in a few days. But she just can't let another moment pass without at least seeing.
It's a quick kiss, her lips pecking Ami's lightly before she pulls back, fully expecting the other girl to blush and stutter or possibly grow indignant. But it's done all the same!

Rei had kissed her. Rei had kissed her.
And...
And well she really, and truly honestly didn't mind.
Her face went deeper red for that.
Did Rei like her? Did Rei just get caught up in the moment? That was her first kiss! Her first kiss was to Rei! Rei who had been one of her very first true friends. Rei who she thought was incredibly beautiful and smart and powerful.
Her body and heart seemed to be ahead of her mind for once, because ice was starting to creep from her hair line along her cheeks and forehead and the top of her neck.
Her mind, as it often did, was racing, but it was going fast, too fast, perhaps. It felt faster than when she tried to get Sierra safe, as fast as when she had to think of a plan to save Usagi from the Drifloons. Only there wasn't anyone to save.
Except maybe herself.
Rei had kissed her.
Rei had kissed her.
The ice kept creeping along her body.
She had been kissed Rei, what did that mean? Did Rei like her? Like... romantically? Was it just something caused because of the moment?
Ami's mind was trying to answer the questions more and more...
Which was why her body (and some part of her mind) had reached its limits and not only could Ami not find herself able to move from shock, but the massive, intense columnar vortex of ice didn't help. The water and ice spout shot straight up towards the sky, drawing in the water from the ocean as it soared up into the sky.
no subject
She blushes scarlet too, seeing that reaction. The ice...oh...oh...
Oh Savior! What was going on! Did Ami...what?!
This did not go anywhere close to how Rei suspected it might!
She falls backwards into the sand in surprise, and all the Pokemon in the area stop what they're doing and look at the vortex beginning to form.
It's not that weird of a situation for Casius. The big dog remembered what had happened with his mistress had changed, so he's the quickest to recover, grabbing Rei by her clothes and picking her up with his teeth to pull her away so that the evolutionary energy wouldn't also strike her.
"Ami-chan?!" Rei cries over the sudden storm, the roar of the sky's fury, and it's only then that she realizes what's happening! With a cry, she throws up her hands and conjures a shell of flame to keep out the water and any ice that happens to fall her way. It' all she can do for the moment as she gathers her wits and gets to her feet.
"Ami-chan!"

The ice, the water, they were things that were as intrinsic to her as breathing. The block of ice shattered and the pieces that didn't get caught up in the vortex shot out and landed in the beach and ocean. She heard Rei's cries but she couldn't really respond to it.
Even as cold as everything around her was becoming, she felt so warm in her chest. This was what belonged to her, this was a part of her.
Aurora was quick to run away from the vortex to safety and let out a long keening wail for her trainer, worried but unable to get any closer. Madame Curie was quick to come over and entered onto the land, able to withstand the sudden chill overwhelming the section of the beach.
Was that snow in the air on the tropical beach, of all things?
Even as Ami knew that the ice and water belonged to her, were her in a sense, she still felt overwhelmed, still felt surprised and scared. In her sudden fear, she screamed out, not in pain but at a loss of what to do.

I have to reach Ami, I must reach Ami. I have to help calm her down. I can’t let this continue. Her thoughts race along at a breakneck pace, surging like a Rapidash trying to outrace a blizzard.
“Ami-chan! I’m coming!”
Another step, and then another, she gradually picked up speed, fighting against the arctic gale. For his part, Casius stayed back while Olympus moved closer to Aurora, stoically placing himself and his wings between the much smaller creature and himself. Don’t worry, he seemed to say, Trainer will handle this. She’ll be okay. He promises.
“Just…hang on!”

Madam Curie already made a barrier to protect the smaller and younger animals from Ami's evolution.
Ami opened her eyes, not even sure when she closed them. She could feel Rei coming towards her, knew she would, even. For as much chaos as she was causing, everything seemed to be happening so slowly in front of her, her mind already ahead and beyond. Not psychic, but perceptive. Everything seemed to be in beautiful detail. Individual, droplets and snowflakes coming in front of her, forming and flowing to her will. The crystals of the ice along her arms and hands seemed to be standing out in stark contrast. Each grain, each vein, each speck of dust was in front of her. She could see all of it, the ice in front of her eyes making everything brighter, not distorted.
She reached up to touch the ice around her eyes and along her cheeks. The girl genius looked back up and information raced into her mind and she consumed it, absorbed it, and analyzed it. Ami could use all of it, could will all of it to do her bidding because it was her.
She would will it to never hurt Rei, never anyone. She'd never hurt anyone she loved. Ami moved her hands out and like she would the strings of a harp, she strummed the very air, using the deep chill to part the water and ice in a ripple, opening a way for Rei.

"I'm here for you! Just...concentrate! Like you told me to do. Calm your mind, focus...and stop this before you hurt the environment around you!"
no subject
She looked at Rei and she felt calm, yes, calm and in control, warmth in her chest. This was hers and she could do with it what she wished.
Ami tilted her head.
"You kissed me," she said, pressing her fingers to frost encased lips.
no subject
"I did, Ami-chan. I kissed you. Because it felt right."

Rei was always beautiful, had always been someone she could depend on and turn to in a problem. Rei had strength and passion that was enchanting, much like Makoto. She loved being in Rei's company.
Did she love Rei? She did, certainly, as a friend, as a fellow warrior, as another person. However, did she love Rei... romantically? She didn't know. It wasn't something Ami had really ever factored into her life. Romance was something for down the road. It was something she liked to dream about now and again but the idea of being in something like that with anyone...
Rei had a fabulous brain. To others that may have been a weird thing to say, but Ami couldn't resist intelligence, was drawn to it, and Rei had it. Beauty, brains, strength, power, and passion, and all of that kissed her.
She blushed and took a deep breath as she called the snow and water spout down from the clouds. It was little more than a whirlpool around their feet. However, Ami wished for privacy and built up walls of ice around them. She didn't want others rushing over to them in their concern. The situation was under control.
"It did," she agreed, still red in the face, the only warm color on her body at that moment.
"I..." she looked away, bowing her head as she felt so unsure. "Will you kiss me again?"
no subject
But there was more to it than that. She admired Ami. She cared deeply about her. And she trusted her. She trusted her so much that it hurt. And for her, trust was everything. With Ami and a few others she could be truly open, truly herself. Perhaps that was why the kiss had happened.
Perhaps it was love? Romance? She...had no idea, other than she felt Ami was beyond important.
"I will..." she said after a long moment, stepping forward so that her free hand could slip over to Ami's cheek. For a moment she cupped it there, leaning in and letting her forehead rest against her friend's. If Ami showed signs of pulling back, she'd accept that. But she hadn't. And didn't seem to. So without much thought beyond sharing her passion and acquiescing to Ami's request, Rei finishes the motion with the kiss.
Her lips press to the other's, heated meeting frosted, countering one another perfectly. The dark-haired priestess didn't pull away quickly this time. She intended to make this kiss last, to be a proper one, in her estimation, and give them a chance to really revel in it.
no subject
She didn't pull away, she didn't want to, though she could only feel her face getting hotter from all this. Steam rose from her cheek and Rei's hand. Well, that wasn't too terribly new between the two of them.
The breath that had been released was softly inhaled as Rei kissed her again; not quick and chaste, but oh just as sweet. She reached out and her own hands, shaking, tentatively, carded through Rei's long tresses.
no subject
When it did come to a close, she slid gently back a pace and exhaled a long-held breath, blushing fiercely. Her hand continued to rest against Ami’s cheek, letting that steam rise up all around them. Her words hitched, her eyes focused intently onto the other’s, curious and worried at the same time. It wasn’t an easy thing to come out of, what they’d just done. It could change everything, she knew, and it very likely would have lasting repercussions, but she didn’t care…not really. Ami had asked, that meant she was willing. That meant, on some level, she appreciated Rei the same way Rei appreciated her.
“Are you…” her words come out tremulously, “are you alright?”
With your body, like that? And with me? With…us?
no subject
"I'm fine," she whispered. She was better than fine, she hadn't expected Rei to be such a good kisser. Honestly, Rei's kissing abilities was not a factor Ami had needed to consider before, though she idly now wondered if she could practice kissing if Ami had been a bad kisser. She reigned in her thoughts, not allowing them to tangent about kissing studies, regardless on how high Rei would score on "good kisser" scales.
"I think... it's under control now," she said as she allowed the ice barrier to turn into water and sink into the sand. The heat from the sun was minor, the cold of her skin keeping her from feeling any discomfort.
no subject
"Good. Good. And...do you...think perhaps this might be a good time to head back to Union." A quick pause, catching herself "Not...that I want to get away from you. But you just evolved! Which means you need to rest. I know mine wiped me out, and I was a lot closer to home..."
