[ Maki's at her piano today, tucking her hair behind her ear as she starts. ]

I've been working on a new song in the last couple weeks, but I'm having trouble thinking up lyrics. I'm not very good at thinking up words for my songs.

[ She's a little embarrassed to admit that in public, but she needs help! ]

It's kind of a love song, I guess you could say. But after last week I have a hard time writing anything...

[ Like breaking up with her girlfriend Chie so that she can hopefully be asked out by Nico. Life is tough. ]

S-So! If anyone is any good at writing lyrics or poetry or something, I'd let you work with me. Just get in touch with me, the sooner the better.

When is our next practice? I don't think we should slack off for too long, or else our hard work will be for nothing. Once I finish this song we can start working on that too.

More recent poetry, yes. And even then, there is nothing against being influenced by another writer's words. I don't know the actual time frame on something like that, but I do know that there's a time limit.

What about looking at history books as well? Maybe retelling an old story. That's how history used to be told at one point, apparently--through song. I imagine there are some wonderful love stories you can use for inspiration.

I hadn't really thought of that. Retelling an old story sounds like something that could work. I still think I'm no good at actually putting words to a song...

Well, writing lyrics is about coming up with rhymes, right? That shouldn't be too hard...

...Not really.

[ She waves her hand a little dismissively, not that she means to. ]

Some songs focus on rhyming as a large part of it's structure, but not all songs need them.

Oh yeah?

If you rhyme too much then it just sounds like you're writing a nursery rhyme and not a song. But if all I had to do was write rhymes I could do that...it's writing down feelings that I'm not very good at.

That does sound difficult...

[ Captain Obvious here. ]

If it was easy I'd already have written the song.

[ She sighs, she doesn't mean to be so rude! ]

...Do you listen to a lot of music?

Not really.

[ That's a surprise. Maki doesn't know how someone could not like music! ]

Really? Do you even have any favorite types?

Mmm, well, they play a lot of music at the parties my family throws, and I like dancing to that. But I'm not sure if I would call it my favorite...

[ Lux frowns a bit, thinking about this. ]

I suppose I don't.

[ Your family does stuff like that too? Maki feels like her parents are always at balls and galas and stuff like that. Such is the life of the rich. ]

You just have to listen to more types until you find something that really resonates with you. Music is really personal, you know?

Maybe. Music has never been too important to me, but if it can move people, maybe I should try to find something I like.

Well... I have a really large collection at my house. I-If you wanted to listen.

I don't want to be a bother, but I appreciate the offer.

[ She's serious when it comes to music, of course. ]

[ Another noble? She didn't recognize the girl, but that wasn't entirely uncommon. Not all noble families had their children make as many appearances before they came of age--maybe hers was like that. ]
