Weirding of Nature

Early in the morning today, the people of Union are startled from their everyday activities by a public broadcast on their Warp Bands. This never means anything good...

With a careful absence of emotion, a disembodied voice begins to read a message prepared by the Rangers of Union. In the past few days, the rangers have begun reporting some strange occurrences while scouting various areas. Individually, they may appear to be minor issues; however, it's an alarming trend when viewed altogether. Citizens are advised to take great care while traveling in the following areas and to keep an eye out for danger.

Caldera: Unattended metal in the area is warping in strange ways.
The Forest Shrine: The trees near the shrine seem to be experiencing rampant growth, obscuring the sunlight in the area.
Desert: Heavy rainfall, uncharacteristic even of the rainy season within the desert has been happening non-stop.
Flower Grove: Small mushroom rings are appearing around the grove. Approaching them is causing dizziness and nausea. This effect is subdued by approaching the Gracidea flowers held within.
Mountain: The Mountain is experiencing increased snowfall usually seen at the higher elevations. Paradoxically, it’s also seeing a few small lava flows emerging from various points; odd as it is not volcanic.
Old City: People and Pokemon will begin to hear voices echoing through the caverns. The voices are hushed, whispering, and unintelligible.
Ruins: A strange, hazelike atmosphere has descended over the ruins. It almost appears as if it were a mirage.
Rolling Plains: Abnormally large swarms of Bug Pokemon have been sighted traversing the plains aimlessly.

These effects will be apparent to anyone traveling within these areas. Stay safe!

1/24 update

Two new areas are showing anomalous behavior.

Iron Mine: Loose ore and rock in the Iron Mine have become magnetized and are now floating through the air seemingly at random.
Ocean: There has been an increase to the potency and size of waves, making the tides and shore more dangerous than normal.

Leavanny! [ Oh! Leave that to Natto! He's pretty sure he has some projects started in the costume room that are about Sanae's size he could tailor into a uniform, no problem! (Those boots are in a class by themselves, however. He won't attempt to imitate that.)

Hurrying into the storeroom, he quickly creates three piles of supplies - one for Haruka, one for Sanae, and one of some supplementary stuff he's thought of since the last time Takuto reported for duty - then salutes Sanae and hurries off to get the costume. He'll just make sure it's a good fit and then doctor the decorations! Tailoring can come once she tries it on. ] Van van.

[ ...And that makes two people in this hallway who are having fun. Haruka lets Natto's response go in lieu of her own to Takuto's question, continuing to focus on Sanae.

She sighs, but it's with a smirk. ] Silence is approaching. You'll have to learn on the job, and there's no margin for error, but...

I guess I should welcome you to the Divine Defense Force.

[ Haruka's hand goes to one cocked hip. And right on cue, a gust of rose petals whirl across the scene. Dramatic moment: memorialized. ]

[ No, Natto you really didn't have to go through all the trouble! Not that she could really understand him, but she could get a general gist of what he was saying, especially after he started getting supplies ready.

So she passed? She wasn't sure what she passed. ]

Silence?

[ Sanae paused for a moment. Being a priestess meant she was at least somewhat religious--or, in her case, a lot. They had a different name for it, but she picked up what Haruka meant. ]

Do you mean--the Gods taking back this land?

[ That's what they were fighting for? That's what the theater--no, the Divine Defense Force--was here for?! ]

It's hard to say for sure, but we aim to find them. And stop that, if it comes to it.

Leavanny. [ And Natto is here to make sure you guys look fabulous while doing it! Just give him a moment to make a few more alterations....these have to be easy to move in, so he can't decorate it too much.... ]

Well, we've gotten kind of fond of the Earth. [ Haruka shuts the storeroom door. She's ready to move out, so she turns to Takuto. ] Are you ready?

Vaaaaaaan! [ Natto isn't!!! Give him a little more time!! Unless Sanae's holding down the fort, in which case, safe travels, everyone. ]

[ Moriya goes to follow Natto, not quite sure what he's up to. But if it's something for Sanae, then he needs to oversee it. The Poliwhirl doesn't know the first thing about looking fabulous, but he'll have to learn. ]

You're going to the desert, right?

[ Sanae looks to Takuto, managing a little bit of a smile. ]

I heard that there's been a lot of rain there. My powers are weather-based, I might be able to do something about that. Let me go with you.

[taudriver]

Sure! Just be careful, we don't know what we're gonna find.

Vanny lea va! [ You want to help? That's really nice of you, Moriya! Can you hold this tunic out so Natto can sew along the edges? Stretch it nice and firm.

Haruka would debate the wisdom of immediate field experience, except Sanae has a point. They really could use someone who's good with the weather out there - everywhere, frankly.

She nods to both of them for different reasons, looking at Takuto. ] I'll leave that to you.

[ Don't get Sanae killed. She got involved because of you. ]

Don't worry, I will be.

[ She gives Takuto a bow, standing upright with a smile. ]

I hope we can work well together.

[ Like this? Moriya does what he's told, although he's not really sure how helpful he really is. ]

Me too.

Do you have or need any weaponry? It might be dangerous.

A weapon?

[ Sanae pauses to think for a moment. She has her gohei, but that doesn't really count...

She shakes her head. ]

No, I don't really have anything. I've never really used a weapon before. Although I have done some archery, it's mostly for ceremonial purposes. I have a dagger too, but that's really situational.

[ She reaches into a pocket on her sleeve, pulling out a short blade. ]

All of the priestesses wear them, for self-defense. You know, just in case.

[ She stops, then looks a bit embarrassed. ]

N-not that I thought anything bad would happen here of course!

[actsmagnificent]

[ You're doing great, Moriya! Natto will try to speed-sew to limit the amount of time he's inconveniencing someone else. He's going so fast there's almost a whirring sound in the air. ] Vanvanvanvanvan...

[ Haruka blinks when the dagger suddenly makes its appearance, then closes her eyes and laughs once. Yeah, she's done here. That little blade won't be enough to stop an angry god, but it should help Sanae at least make it to the potential smiting. ]

Take as much of this as you need. [ She waves to the supplies. ] We'll talk more when you get back.

[ A look up at Sanae through heavily-lidded, heavily-lashed eyes. ] All right, Skitty?

[ Moriya watches with rapt interest. ]

Right! Thank you!

[ And a bow for senpai. Although... it's Sanae, remember? Not Skitty.

Oh well, maybe eventually she'll remember. ]

Go pack. [ We're done here. And you're cute. Too cute. This is going to be dangerous. But it was inevitable once they'd invited Sanae through their doors, so Haruka won't regret it.

She also totally knows your name, Skitty. But you'll have to earn her use of it. ]

Leavanny! [ Short of breath but triumphant, Natto steps back from the tunic and snips off the thread he'd been working on. Have your Trainer try that on! It should be good! ] Van van.

[ Don't worry, senpai, she will!

Moriya looks at the garment, then back at Natto, then back at the garment again. Really? Sanae's supposed to fight in this? Aren't her normal clothes okay?

But whatever, the Poliwhirl toddles over to his human, presenting the clothes to her. ]

Huh, what's this? For me?

[ Taking it, she holds it up, a look of amazement on her face. ...It was beautiful, this was for her? She could have something like this? She looks from Moriya, to Natto, to Takuto.

For real? This was for her? ]

[actsmagnificent]

Leava. [ It is! Natto doesn't quite understand why a secret organization has uniforms, but if they're going to go out and smite things that need smiting, the least he can do is make sure they're in something awesome-looking (if practical). If you could try it on before you left, he'd be much obliged!

Haruka stifles a laugh and turns to go back to her own business. Natto and Takuto can take it from here. ]

It's your uniform! You're one of us now!

My uniform?

[ Natto seems really insistent upon something. Maybe he wants her to try it on? She would be rude not to oblige and, excusing herself for a moment, she goes to change.

Natto didn't provide shoes, so she's kept her brown boots on. They seem to go surprisingly well in her new uniform. Walking back out, she looks a bit bashful. ]

Does it look okay?

[ ...Wow, you're pretty good. Moriya gives Natto an approving thumbs up. ]

Leavanny! [ Oh, good, he did manage to highlight Sanae's innate cuteness. Natto is proud of his skills, but he also knows clothes work best when they complement their wearer. So he's mostly just happy she's happy - and touched that Moriya thinks he did well. Thank you for your help! ] Leava van.

[ Will you allow him to add a leaf, Sanae? Then you'll be ready to go! ]

[ Doing a little bit of a spin, the girl beams. ]

Really, you think so?

[ She bends down to Natto's level, not quite sure what he's asking, but yes, yes he can put a leaf on her. ]

[ Natto thinks hard before affixing the leaf to the breast of her costume. Now it looks like she's won a medal. The "thanks for signing up and letting him have fun fixing you a costume" medal. He can work more on the uniform later, but he won't be embarrassed by her wearing the current version into battle.

Looking at both of them once he's done, he chirps. Good luck! He's sure you'll both make Trainer proud. ] Leavanny!
