[Voice, Public]
[It's well past midnight when a voice begins to sound over the network. He doesn't really know how to maintain anonymity, but he figures whispering without showing his face will work well enough.]
Someone died today.
I guess... lots of people die everyday. And probably things wouldn't work very well if it never happened. I guess it's not really fair to only care... if you have to see it.
It's -- It's not very fair at all.
...Everyone did everything right. Sometimes, doctors or nurses make mistakes, and it can be really bad, but it's not usually the sort of mistake you can't fix, either. And... you have to understand that they're working so hard that they can't be perfect all the time, too. Sometimes... it just happens.
There weren't any mistakes today.
They've only let me work with patients for a few weeks. Not alone... But I -- I was the one who told him that everything would be OK. And I watched his Pokemon when they put him in surgery. And -- ...then they came to take them away from me and they didn't say anything, but... I saw the sheet.
And I said it was going to be OK and it wasn't.
[His voice trembles a little.]
It's not fair... that you can want something so much and you can do everything right and... and none of that matters because it just goes all wrong and that's... it. That's just it. Things are a certain way and... wanting and wishing and doing won't ever change it.
...Why?
[Fourteen is a little early for an existential crisis, but here we are.]
[action, Residential District]
[Lucas's desired anonymity tonight is a little bit sabotaged by the fact that he's glowing like a lantern. In a small park in the middle of the residential district, a light shines steadily through the night, illuminating the surroundings with a gentle bluish cyan hue. Odd diamond shaped patterns run through the air and anyone who comes into contact with the blue light will feel a warm energy running through them.
At its center sits a boy, covered in the same patterns. He is hugging an Eevee close, and he sits staring at the Warp Band after he makes his call. Unbeknownst to him, his prodigious healing powers is slowly revitalizing some of the blooms half-killed by the frost, resulting in a rather strange display.
His psychic powers have always been powerful, but it will perhaps never be as incredible a display again as this, the moment he evolves.]
No one is strong from birth. You can only become strong... when put into a desperate situation. Even if you shake or cry, as long as you do not run, you will grow stronger and stronger.
If you didn't get strong, you wouldn't be able to help those in need...
Isn't that right?
That is why you promised: I must become strong.
That is why you have become who you are today...

[His tone carries a shade of gratitude and a touch of shyness.]
Well. If Ghosts still sleep, I don't want to keep you much longer... I should probably go, too.
