A Very Merry Hobo Birthday... To You!

Who: A whole lot of losers (this can mean you). Specifically, Ankh, Eiji, probably all of the Senshi, Martin, Elly and Fei. Nozomi? Possibly more Love Lives?? A WHOLE LOT OF LOSERS... I tagged everybody I knew would be here that I knew the canons for. :<
What: Hino Eiji's birthday!!
When: October 22! All day, all night, as long as y'all wanna celebrate this hobo.
Where: Hikawa Shrine.

He was pretty sure Rei had said something about it being Eiji's birthday. He didn't actually care overmuch, since she had come to him with the request that he take Eiji and distract him until a specific time, and given him the idea of making him buy ice cream. Ankh liked ice cream. In fact, it was about his favorite thing. So when it had been suggested that he could force Eiji into buying him some, whilst still fulfilling some kind of request from Rei, it meant he was getting ice cream and having the grumpy Shrine Maiden indebted to him (at least, in his own mind). So while there was the vaguest of concepts in his head that this was a distraction for some kind of celebration in honor of Eiji, he was mostly interested in the fact that he was making the vagrant buy him something.

And so here they were, Ankh dragging Eiji by the sleeve, heading into town.

"You walk too slow, how do you walk this slow? You're taller than I am."

"I don't" she answers in a bemused voice. Accepting the bottle, she pours him some of his own and takes the cue. It's a little strange, but she can't really say that she doesn't understand. This is his way of showing he's grateful, and it makes sense, given that he's a Pokemon first and a human second. And Pokemon she could accept and understand a lot easier than humans.

"Cheers." To having a group of people who could come together and show appreciation for family and friends. Like a family should have.

Raising her glass and waiting for him, she takes a long drink.

He keeps his expression carefully blank, if possibly a little curious at the ritual. Waiting until she was drinking from her glass, he looks at his own and swirls the liquid around in it before doing the same.

He considered spitting it right back out, but instead just makes a face. The face, for what it was worth, was probably pretty damn funny, given he recoiled from his glass like it had burned him, holding it out as far from him as he could get it and scrunched his face up, sticking out his tongue.

"Oh," he wheezes when he'd swallowed the wine. "My God. Why would you drink that willingly?" Ankh please.

Rei looks at him as he splutters, a highly amused expression coming over her. She can't help but almost laugh. Because god, Ankh you look ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

"It's not something you drink often, you know. It's for special occasions, to...loosen yourself up a bit. At least, that's why I do. The taste doesn't bother me so much, but...I guess I'm more used to it? It was unpleasant when I tried it first too."

[tsunbird]

"Bleaugh," he manages, still holding the glass at arm's length. "Foul. Foul and disgusting. Why would you want to make yourself like that. Why would I sacrifice my tongue for the concept of "loosening up". Gross."

Ankh you are completely overreacting.

"It must be a human thing, honestly," Rei shrugs, taking another sip and favoring him with a rather genuine smile. It's hardly strong wine, she knows herself better than that. It's just for the party. "But if you don't like it, you don't have to drink more. I'd hardly force it on you."

[tsunbird]

He scrunches his face up.

"Nahh, I'll just give it to the birthday idiot," he says, frowning at the glass and bringing it back to a not-stupid distance away from him. "Not that he needs any loosening up. He's got screws loose upstairs and everything." He frowns. "Maybe that's a bad idea."

[faithfulflame]

"It might be. He really doesn't need to be loosened up too much more." She completely agrees. "Besides, I think he's happy enough to just enjoy the party. But for me...it makes being part of a group easier."

And talking about her faults easier too.

"He might lose an arm or something," he mutters, more as an aside than to Rei herself. Regardless, he frowns at his glass and shrugs, holding it up. "But it might be fun to watch, so I'ma go give it to him anyway."

Ankh no.

"I really don't think that's a good idea..." Rei says, but she's fairly confident that it won't hurt him. It's just wine, and he's a big guy. And he probably won't take it anyway...
