A Musical Practice

Who: The Love Live! Girls, anyone who lives at Hikawa Shrine, and anyone leaving and entering the shrine! And stalkers. There are stalkers.
What: Practice for performing on stage! Their first practice ever.
When: Sometime in the afternoon, after school is over.
Where: Hikawa Shrine, Union.
Summary: Honoka has finally managed to amass a group of people to get together as a little musical group to perform. They are going to try to practice together for the first time, and that could go any number of ways.

"Hello everyone!" She shouts once all the girls who she expected to come to practice arrive. "I wasn't sure where we could practice, but I'm so glad Rei let us come here and use the courtyard! So!"

She stands, feet at shoulder width, in front of the girls, looking determined as ever.

"We'll do some singing first! And after a little break, we'll try dancing! Someone will need to clap for us to keep time, but we can alternate who does that so everyone gets to practice dancing. And then! We can get something to eat when we're done! If there's someone you don't know, get to know them a little bit before we begin our practice!"

"Okay! Let's start!"

...Why are you so focused on my opinion of them?

[ After everything Nozomi and Rei said about her definitely joining Honoka, there still is the question why Honoka wants her in the first place. ]

[ She has her own Fletchling, though she's at home at the moment. But that doesn't mean she's very good at handling Pokemon at all. ]

I'm helping Honoka with her musical group she is trying to put together. [ Maki says that, but if he's been watching, she's been performing and practicing as if she's a part of the group already. ]

Did you see something wrong then?

[ Maki saw that stern expression on Eri's face all too clearly. ]

"Helping". I see.

[A covert little grin. He sees what you did there, Maki.]

[ She's just being tsun, she can't help it. ]

W-What's that supposed to mean?

[He stares, wide-eyed. What has he gotten himself into.]

I didn't say I was gonna advertise for you! You should handle that yourselves!

[Ankh, she didn't say you had to, either.]

[And here is Te wo Tsunagou, which Eiji and Ankh both sing and dance in like idiots. Welcome to Kamen Rider.]

[ This isn't easy for Maki. Going over to talk to someone else, when she could just as easily sit by herself on the steps and eat her lunch. But after the singing practice, and how hard she was on Hanayo, she feels like she should say something to her, But first, she can't take her eyes off that lunch. It doesn't look balanced nutritiously at all. ]

...Is that your lunch, Hanayo?

[ She is not!!!!!

Part of her worries that she's being too tough, but learning to sing isn't something that just anyone can do, and it certainly can't be done unless you are willing to give your all. Maki has no time for amateurs. But Hanayo is impressive, among the small group here, and she can't help but focus on her, trying to guide her more personally. ]

That's better. Have you ever had lessons or anything before, Hanayo?

[ Maki whispers something about eating a healthy breakfast in the girl's ear, before standing up straight, a grin over her face. She's got zero poker face, she feels like she's got one up on Nico and it shows. ]

That's right that's all you have to do.

[ Pretty soon Maki's taken a step back from the other girls practicing, to take a sip of water, placed near Nico of course, picking up her bottle, and watching the other girl out of the corner of her eye to see what she does. ]

Have you been eating healthy?

Yes! I've been waiting to eat it all day!

[What is nutritional balance, rice is all you need.]

[Hanayo knows the road to successful idolhood is a long one, so she's ready for the criticism.]

N-no, nothing formal. I always just practiced by myself and with my Pokemon. Baiorin helps keep me correct my pitch.

[She gestures over in the direction of her fussy little maestro of a Kricketune.]

A: Dancing!

[Dancing is a topic she is completely new at and given her air headed nature? clumsiness is inevitable. She is certainly better now that she got to practice a bit with Honoka before today but neither of them had any proper guiding and every one of her steps scream rookie.

Even though she hasn't tripped over her own feet or anything big yet she keeps missing small steps that throw her off rhythm. Her expression reveals her emotions clearly.]

B: Singing!

[She is not exactly confident about her singing voice when in human form but this is certainly something Kotori enjoys much more. While she commits the sin of letting her voice go too high pitched at many points her performance is not all bad, nor is her more relaxed expression.

Behind Kotori stands a Scatterbug that attempts to match her tune with mixed success.]

C: Break time!

[Kotori is not around during break time.

Why? because there is a shiny Swablu in her place, surrounded by her pokemon, and eating her macaroon snacks. It's easier to relax in this form after all but it may confuse those who don't know her shifter status.]

D: Free for all! (arrival and after training)
[Kotori arrives with a cheerful smile on her face and a surprising amount of pokemon following her. While she normally only goes out with one or two of them by her side it was hard to get them to stay at the apartment: all her friends are most interested in this new 'hobby' she is picking up. It's hard to miss her.

Anything goes for after training!]

[ Singing is Maki's strong suit of course, and she's making it duty to see that every one of the other girl's gets a crash course in vocals. She's put off deciding to join because she refuses to be in an amateurish group, one where people don't even follow basic training to improve their voices. But somehow, either through sheer luck or Honoka's skill, she's ended up with a group of people who are pretty serious.

Even ones like Hanayo, who look like they might cry if Maki is too harsh on her, are trying their hardest. But now, she's focusing her attention on Kotori, hands on her hips, having pulled the bird away from the group for a little one on one tutoring. This isn't really the Maki Kotori met before. She's more like a harsh taskmaster, who refuses to let anyone slack off. ]

You're not singing enough with your diaphragm. You won't be able to finish a song like that. Try again, from the beginning.

[Since they practiced together, even if just a bit, Kotori and Honoka fall into synchronicity with surprise ease. It's a pity that their rhythm is not the one of the rest of the group nor are they using the right steps either.

And here, left... no, right!

Yet by betraying the natural rhythm that Honoka and her fell on that change into the correct steps causes a certain thing to happen.]

W-Waah!

[A certain crash of idols.]

[ Maki had thought to leave Yaya at home today, not wanting to have her bothering anyone (one person in particular actually) but that was apparently impossible. And so during break Maki's brought her Fletching to the shrine through her Warp Band, but as soon as she shows up (waiting long enough to steal a bit of Maki's food) she flies off, looking for Kotori. Maki only sighs, deciding that she can only hope that Yaya isn't too much of a bother for Kotori.

And so as Kotori goes through her snacks, Yaya appears in front of her, realizing quickly that she's a little outnumbered by Kotori's Pokemon. ]

[What a peaceful day, isn't it? the sun is shining brightly, a pleasant wind blows through the shine, their 'public' understands they are novices and the food of Maki's lunch box seems delicious. A lovely day, certainly.

And then a certain fluffy being lands on top of Maki's hat, light as a feather.]

Maki~

[Have a very happy and exhausted bird.]

[Kotori's team is enthusiastic in their own way, too. None of them except Rurua, the Zorua, are artists by nature but they were intrigued enough by Kotori's new interest that they insisted until the young shifter gave in and allowed them to come.

All said? it was bound to happen that some of them would get bored and wander away, albeit staying in the shrine during their exploration. A curious Ralts, a timid Deerling and a lively Zorua make their way closer to the trouple with clear interest. Scatterbug remains faithful by Kotori's side, mimicking her motions as best as it can.]

[Sheer luck, determination, skill or even more dubious concepts of the kind of 'fate' don't really matter, do they? they found each other and are now walking the same path together and that is what matters right now. These small steps are the beginning of something big.

It would be a lie to say that Kotori didn't feel really happy to see Maki here, surprising as it was (no, exactly because it was an unexpected situation?) and being guided by somebody she admires makes her put an extra bit off effort on singing yet that doesn't mean that her lack of practice can be ignored. When Maki pulls her away and gives her serious advice the little bird nods seriously.]

O-okay.

[She takes a deep breath and begins.]

I love you, banzai!

[It's still no good.]

[Eh? Nico?

Practice is being quite intense and requiring all their attention, specially of rookies like Kotori herself, which leads to her not noticing the other girl's presence until she came closer to stop her Marrill. For better or worse the younger (?) girl's critique seems to have avoided this birdy girl.]

Nico?

[She calls for the other with a surprised tone of voice, stopping her steps. It's not like she was synchronized with the others in any case.]

It's really good~ do you want some, Tery?

[As the fluffy flying type picked another sweet treat with her wings, hoping to offer it to her newest friend, Yaya lands in front of her. The macaroon ends up at the exact height of the Fletching's beak.]

Eh?-- Ah! Yaya! it's been a while, did you come to watch Maki practice?

[If anything she adapts quickly: the Swablu is soon radiating energy, happy to see the other bird.]

What's the matter, Hanayo? [She stops too, seeing her friend distressed.]

[This girl...

Kotori focused properly during practice however once break time arrived she couldn't help but delve in her curiosity, even if a little. She has met this girl, right? her voice specially feels so familiar... during break time she can't help but stare a bit with the faint hope that her memory will finally give her the correct answer.]

Okay! [With even more determination, she tries again, placing her foot just as instructed, and manages to turn and do the dance move perfectly. Well, while its isolated at least. Now she'll have to put it all together, but for now...]

I did it! Yosh!

Because you're the most amazing singer I know! And anyone that good must have a good opinion!

[She ain't lying]
