The Labyrinth of the New Moon
Most of Union was familiar now with the second world that had so abruptly inserted itself into their lives. They called it the Dream World: a place where fiction became more real than reality and where the imagination knew no bounds. If it weren't quite so intrusive, some might even find it an amusing place to visit - there were secrets to be uncovered here, surely, where the mental barriers of friends and enemies were relaxed, and powers to be taken advantage of. Who wouldn't want to host a pool party every night?
For a week, the people of Union continue to pop in and out of the Dream World until most have grown tired of the seemingly random nature of the disappearances. Low mutterings and disgruntled complaints begin to spread throughout the city, but it seems as if no one truly knows how to stop it. Giant fans to disperse the fog are suggested facetiously once, and a number of Fan Rotoms are seen working hard the next day... But such efforts amount to nothing.
On the night of the seventh day, something changes.
Those who pop into the Dream World tonight will realize immediately - the landscape has changed. Dream mists still swirl and eddy at random intervals, but the Neutral Spaces have grown dark and shadowed. There's no ominous feeling of danger, but rather... alertness. The sense that something unusual is about to happen.
Up in the sky, a shadowed moon gleams with a faint luster. A new moon. ...This is impossible, of course, but then, many things are impossible in this world. And no matter where you head, it seems as if each step takes you closer to that black moon, a gaping maw in the twilit sky... Step forward, retreat backwards, close your eyes and flee. It matters not. One more step and it has devoured you whole.
There is the sensation of falling, of spinning, of coming to an abrupt halt without feeling an impact. But when you open your eyes, you are not alone. Two or three others you may recognize are with you, and a long corridor stretches out before your group with doors dotting each side as far as the eye can see.
Welcome to the Labyrinth of the New Moon.
[OOC: All plot logs for people in the Dream World will occur here. Please make the first post with all the names of the people in your group in the subject line so people know where to post. Mod responses will come about once every 24 hours as long as at least one person has posted.
The group listings are here. We will not be running randomizers anymore, but you may still sign up with a full group of at least three if you can find one and tag in. Keep in mind though that the log may not be finished depending on when it is posted. You may also hop in an existing group as long as all existing group members give permission and the group is not full.]

Please.
[Goku will find that despite his hand being apparently missing, there really isn't much pain at all. He will also find that his hand will will itself back into existence after a few moments.]
How can it be... that you continue to make such poor decisions?
no subject
It's back!
[Looking up at the sound of the voice, Goku blinks-]
Whaddya mean? I know that getting my hand chomped off might not of been the best decision and all...
no subject
[Ky glowered in place as he tries to pull himself up onto his feet]
Ignore the cry for help? That is not in my nature to do so.
no subject
[ Well, time to work on his sewing. Wrapping his coat up now, tucking it under his arm. ]
While we could have rushed to the tower itself, it would have done us no better to be focusing on that while Heatran focused on us.
[ And evacuating a building of that size might be a bit harder than taking on a pokemon of this size... ]
no subject
Hm.
[Mysterious Voice TM does not respond to any of their objections, but in the blink of an eye, the scene before them has changed to a still picture. The monstrosity they recognize is trapped now in the middle of a cavern as squads of faceless men armed with weaponry of all sorts surround and besiege it. This lasts for only a few moments before it dissolves away.
The three are standing now on a circular platform hovering in the middle of a dark void.
Mysterious Voice TM does not elaborate on what sort of lesson this is supposed to teach.]
500 years of lost memories... How fresh this must seem to you... and how familiar to us.
no subject
[When the image fades, he looks up, eyes searching the vast void.]
But that's not what we want! It's only new because we don't ever want something like that to happen to any pokemon! Humanity learned its lesson!
[Whether or not that's what the voice is trying to say, he doesn't know- but that's how he's taking it.]
no subject
I'm not sure what exactly what you want, it is as he said - there might be rare monsters who would treat pokemon badly, but humanity as a whole do not want to hurt them. We only acted as the Habitat was important to us - if there were people and pokemon in there - as it sounded like, we had to try to save them.
[Ky stops, looking out into the void]
no subject
Here, yes, we would fight it. To protect those important.

[The voice intones once more in a dismissive sort of manner. It does not elaborate further, though it is clear something has been said that it doesn't agree with.]
I do not want anything from you.
This is the consequence of a misunderstanding. The further you traverse, the deeper into your own fears and nightmares you will fall. That is the inevitable nature of this realm.
Few enjoy reaching its depths.
no subject
If it's all just a misunderstanding, then does whatever brought us here think we did something to it?
[Did they fuck up again, like how Goku offended the Valkyries of Citadel? Whoops?]
no subject
[Ky answered Goku quietly, a hand on his chin]
Or judging from their response, they might be under the impression that we are like our shortsighted ancestors.
no subject
... Or commentary that we weren't supposed to be drawn in here - and this part of the dream world is less of dreams. ... and will get worse than burning Union if we manage to continue.
... Although if it wants nothing of us, why are we in here? Is that the misunderstanding?
no subject
'They' can hear you, you know.
[There is another slight sigh before the darkness that surrounds them seems to begin to... coalesce. If darkness can coalesce. But a certain part of their surroundings begins to take on a more solid form as they quietly murmur to themselves.]
The boundary between worlds has grown thin. It was inevitable that you would be drawn in - and inevitable that you would experience what you did. I have chosen to intercede before you blunder further into the depths of true nightmares.
no subject
Thanks for helping us out, we really appreciate it...but say, is there anything we can do to help to keep this from happening again? It really had some people freaked out.
no subject
[Succinct.]
You have no power over these matters.
[And the coalescing darkness appears to ripple outwards now, almost like the fabric of a cape. It envelops them quickly - and in the moments when they can see and feel absolutely nothing, strange visions and whispers begin to brush at the edges of their consciousness. A desperate, irrational fear may descend without warning, or else a certain haunting voice would bring back long forgotten memories of something better concealed.
But in the next instant, it has all gone... and before them looms a looming, imposing figure, its form melting into the darkness still surrounding them.]
I, myself... am only one half of a whole.
The realm of nightmares... that is my domain.
