The Labyrinth of the New Moon
Most of Union was familiar now with the second world that had so abruptly inserted itself into their lives. They called it the Dream World: a place where fiction became more real than reality and where the imagination knew no bounds. If it weren't quite so intrusive, some might even find it an amusing place to visit - there were secrets to be uncovered here, surely, where the mental barriers of friends and enemies were relaxed, and powers to be taken advantage of. Who wouldn't want to host a pool party every night?
For a week, the people of Union continue to pop in and out of the Dream World until most have grown tired of the seemingly random nature of the disappearances. Low mutterings and disgruntled complaints begin to spread throughout the city, but it seems as if no one truly knows how to stop it. Giant fans to disperse the fog are suggested facetiously once, and a number of Fan Rotoms are seen working hard the next day... But such efforts amount to nothing.
On the night of the seventh day, something changes.
Those who pop into the Dream World tonight will realize immediately - the landscape has changed. Dream mists still swirl and eddy at random intervals, but the Neutral Spaces have grown dark and shadowed. There's no ominous feeling of danger, but rather... alertness. The sense that something unusual is about to happen.
Up in the sky, a shadowed moon gleams with a faint luster. A new moon. ...This is impossible, of course, but then, many things are impossible in this world. And no matter where you head, it seems as if each step takes you closer to that black moon, a gaping maw in the twilit sky... Step forward, retreat backwards, close your eyes and flee. It matters not. One more step and it has devoured you whole.
There is the sensation of falling, of spinning, of coming to an abrupt halt without feeling an impact. But when you open your eyes, you are not alone. Two or three others you may recognize are with you, and a long corridor stretches out before your group with doors dotting each side as far as the eye can see.
Welcome to the Labyrinth of the New Moon.
[OOC: All plot logs for people in the Dream World will occur here. Please make the first post with all the names of the people in your group in the subject line so people know where to post. Mod responses will come about once every 24 hours as long as at least one person has posted.
The group listings are here. We will not be running randomizers anymore, but you may still sign up with a full group of at least three if you can find one and tag in. Keep in mind though that the log may not be finished depending on when it is posted. You may also hop in an existing group as long as all existing group members give permission and the group is not full.]

[With Banzu are Spur-Mesh the Klinklang, Facet the Carbink, Multi the Smeargle, and Erg the Golurk, with his fifth slot unexpectedly empty. He's not sure if this is part of an intentional prank on the part of the Rotom that should fill that slot or not.
He sighs and gestures down the hallway.]
Wanna try and see if we can get outta here just by walking long enough or you wanna start trying doors?
no subject
...That was sudden.
When they come to, they will awaken in a perfectly normal looking house with perfectly normal looking plastic furniture. ...And plastic plants. And plastic windows and plastic doors and plastic walls.
Alright, so it's not looking so normal.
Most unsettling... is the fact that the string is still bound tightly to each of their limbs and their heads, though they are free to get up and move around.]

Waking up, the woman quickly sits up, looking around. This place felt wrong, terribly wrong. The strings around her wrists, ankles and neck solidified that. ...Marionettes?]
no subject
She's not sure exactly what situation they've just landed in, but she isn't impressed with those strings being attached to her.]
'Interesting', huh? Want me to burn off the strings?
no subject
Yes.
[In the meantime he'll try and break one of the strings, using the manliest of cutting implements - his teeth - if simple brute force doesn't do the trick.]
no subject
[A high-pitched voice echoes around them as they discuss. Banzu will get absolutely nowhere with his teeth. And lo and behold, Nozomi's suspicions may begin to be solidifed as the roof disappears from above them and the face of a small child peers in. ...Or, rather, a very large child gazing down at its playhouse.
Each of them will see someone different - their own face, at age 8.]
New toys to play with...
[Light laughter will sound, though there is something vaguely melancholic about the child's voice. It points at Banzu, Nozomi, and Kyoko in turn.]
Daddy - Mommy - and Baby! Mommy isn't nice to me anymore, so... you have to be a good family, OK?
no subject
It's almost as if the entities in control of this world have been mining the past week of dreams for ideas or something.]no subject

The child smiles down at its toys.]
Well? Aren't you going to play for me? It's harder when I have to do it myself...
[The strings on their limbs begin to pull taut.]
no subject
We'll play with you. If you cut our strings, we'll do a magic trick!
[She glances toward the other two. Play along. If it works, they'll make a break for it.]
no subject
[The child giggles a little bit.]
I can't, silly! If I cut the strings, how will you be able to move?
[But it sounds eager enough to see this trick.]
But if you show me, I'll have a special party and we'll have all of our favorite things.
no subject
But if the kid wants to see a trick? Kyoko'll give it a trick. Fire spreads across her hand as she tries to burn off her own strings.]
no subject
no subject
Aaaaah!
[The child stamps its foot on the ground.]
No, no, no! You're going to burn my toys! Then Mommy will yell at me again, and it will all be your fault!
[Angrily, it makes a motion with its hands - and the strings around Kyoko jerk tight. The fire trembles for a moment before it recedes back into her body.]
If you're not gonna be good, I'll have to take over. Hmph.
no subject
[Kyoko, you really should have thought your cunning plan through. They weren't the ones in control here. Although she did have a thought.]
Why did Mommy yell at you this time? What was she mad about?
no subject

no subject
Mommy's always mad.
It's my fault Daddy's gone. That's what she says...
[It smiles with an effort before leaning over to look at Banzu.]
But you can be Daddy now! So... you won't get hurt this time, right? You won't get hurt because of me...
no subject
There's no way you could've done anything to hurt him when you hadn't even been born yet. Whyever he left it was his own damn fault.
You don't need me to be a dad, you'll be able to get along fine on your own if you work at it.
