The Labyrinth of the New Moon
Most of Union was familiar now with the second world that had so abruptly inserted itself into their lives. They called it the Dream World: a place where fiction became more real than reality and where the imagination knew no bounds. If it weren't quite so intrusive, some might even find it an amusing place to visit - there were secrets to be uncovered here, surely, where the mental barriers of friends and enemies were relaxed, and powers to be taken advantage of. Who wouldn't want to host a pool party every night?
For a week, the people of Union continue to pop in and out of the Dream World until most have grown tired of the seemingly random nature of the disappearances. Low mutterings and disgruntled complaints begin to spread throughout the city, but it seems as if no one truly knows how to stop it. Giant fans to disperse the fog are suggested facetiously once, and a number of Fan Rotoms are seen working hard the next day... But such efforts amount to nothing.
On the night of the seventh day, something changes.
Those who pop into the Dream World tonight will realize immediately - the landscape has changed. Dream mists still swirl and eddy at random intervals, but the Neutral Spaces have grown dark and shadowed. There's no ominous feeling of danger, but rather... alertness. The sense that something unusual is about to happen.
Up in the sky, a shadowed moon gleams with a faint luster. A new moon. ...This is impossible, of course, but then, many things are impossible in this world. And no matter where you head, it seems as if each step takes you closer to that black moon, a gaping maw in the twilit sky... Step forward, retreat backwards, close your eyes and flee. It matters not. One more step and it has devoured you whole.
There is the sensation of falling, of spinning, of coming to an abrupt halt without feeling an impact. But when you open your eyes, you are not alone. Two or three others you may recognize are with you, and a long corridor stretches out before your group with doors dotting each side as far as the eye can see.
Welcome to the Labyrinth of the New Moon.
[OOC: All plot logs for people in the Dream World will occur here. Please make the first post with all the names of the people in your group in the subject line so people know where to post. Mod responses will come about once every 24 hours as long as at least one person has posted.
The group listings are here. We will not be running randomizers anymore, but you may still sign up with a full group of at least three if you can find one and tag in. Keep in mind though that the log may not be finished depending on when it is posted. You may also hop in an existing group as long as all existing group members give permission and the group is not full.]

...It rapidly transforms into poison ivy, though. Good luck with that.
The imposing hallway with the endless door stretches out before them.]
no subject
You had better throw that down right now.
[Which makes her wonder if their elemental typing still applies in the dream world...because if so, she herself is immune to poisons. She's tempted to try a brief experiment, but the hallway does get her attention.]
That looks like an invitation if there ever was one.
no subject
Someone else is controlling things here, then.
[She holds up her Warp Band, or the dream facsimile thereof, and summons Kaneda. Assuming that works...]
Alright, kiddo, help me keep a mind out for trouble.
Espe!
[Rise mentally looks ahead in the hallway, seeing if she can see anything down that way or behind any of the doors with her mind's eye.]

[Rise rubs her head.]
Geez, and after all that buildup last week about ~appreciating my abilities~? You'd think the Dream World would work more like a story.
[She sighs.]
Well, I can't sense anything, so all there is to do is explore...
no subject
Shirokuro. [He lifts his warp band and summons the Drowzee he got in the Dream World.]
I don't know if I like this... Just because it's an invitation, doesn't mean it's a good one.
no subject
Touching her warp band, she calls out her Pumpkaboo, Tulip. When Tulip arrives, she begins spinning, and Pamela has to gently touch her small-sized Pumpkaboo to stop her before Tulip gets the idea that shooting Confusion in all directions would be a fun thing to do.]
Tulip, sweetie, this isn't a good time to play that game. Can you help us out?
[That gets Tulip to be more serious, and she starts looking ahead with Kaneda and Shirokuro.]
no subject
[Shirokuro could do magic tricks! Len didn't want him to get lost before he had a chance to learn some. Plus he might be fun to use on stage, as long as he doesn't steal the attention away from Len.]
I think we should just wait here. ♫
no subject
But it looks like the powers that be disagree with Len's approach to the situation. The poison ivy that Rise dropped has quietly and rapidly begun to spread all along the ground...
In the blink of an eye, the plant expands to enormous proportions, wraps the three tightly, and throws them through an open door.
Isn't the Dream World just great?
It's hard to see what's going on when they come to what with the dazzling light shining in their eyes. Len and Rise will recognize it at least - they're up on a stage!
A big sign flashes:
KARAOKE NIGHT OPEN MIC
Down below, there is a crowd waiting expectantly.]
no subject
[Rise does not appreciate being thrown, or getting sudden bright lights shone in her eyes. She's about to turn around and give that plant a piece of her mind about it when she notices where they are.]
Hey!
That...doesn't sound so bad, actually. D'you suppose we're supposed to sing to get out of here?
no subject
She takes a look around the stage, not recognizing it for what it is immediately until Rise asks about singing. She'll sing if she absolutely has to, but it's never something Pamela's prided herself on being very good at. She can sing on key. That's about the extent of her vocal talents.]
...if the two of you sing, I can clap along to the beat. Unless the three of us are supposed to sing together.
no subject
[He seems pretty confident, to say the least.] I know plenty of duets, and a few group songs too if we all need to sing. ♫
no subject
If they fail to start harmonizing within the next ten seconds, someone will make a decision for them and some bizarre music that sounds like it's 90% theremin will begin to play.]
no subject
[Rise moves up and takes the mic, starting to sing one of her old pieces of pop-fluff from her radio days. She's not used to singing a capella, but some things are ingrained in your mind hard enough you don't need perfect pitch to wing them.]
no subject
[She just started without him! Len huffs and folds his arms, apparently refusing to sing back-up since they didn't agree on anything together. No way is he going to let his Rival Idol take the lead here!
Not in a million years. He's going to sit on the floor and pout with his nose in the air instead.]
no subject
In the meantime, Rise's attempts are met with some enthusiasm as the crowd begins to liven up. The skeptical appearances change to approving nods and before too long, a low murmur spreads across the crowd. Looks like it's going well!
At an appropriately upbeat part of the song, a disco ball drops from the sky and begins to flash different colors.
Someone yells, "Dance! Dance! Dance!"]
no subject
no subject
Who did that?! ♫ [He shoots a leer up at the bucket, only to see a disco ball take its place. The cheers of the crowd just turn his irritation right back into jealousy.
Fed up, he shakes himself off and starts to copy Rise's dance, but he's stone set on not singing with her.]
no subject
She does know some of the song Rise is singing - or at least the chorus, anyway. So she joins in only on the chorus as a backup singer. This is bizarre but it could be worse.
Even Tulip the Pumpkaboo gets in on it, twirling around to the beat but mercifully not firing Confusion off at random like she does sometimes.]
no subject
Ri-se, Ri-se, Ri-se!
[The cheers are quite enthusiastic at the conclusion of the song! The cheers are even more ecstatic when a panel underneath Rise lifts her up a few feet in the air... right before a cage drops out of the sky and slams tightly shut on her. The crowd goes even wilder.]
We choose her!
[There is a slight pause as the crowd murmurs amongst themselves - moments later, Pamela is subject to the same treatment.]
And her!
[Two Machamp walk out of the eaves of the stage and pick up the two caged women. They each begin to exit through opposite doors.]
no subject
What's going on?! [Shirokuro looks around in confusion and produces a bouquet of flowers. Are you impressed? Is this not the time? Apparently not, since Len is ignoring him.] Where are you guys going! ♫
no subject
[Rise bangs on the cage bars.]
Get me out of here!
[Kaneda shakes himself out of his confusion at that order, sets his little Espeon jaw, and tries to grab the Machamp carrying Rise with a Psychic.]
no subject
A simple 'encore' would have been fine!
[She doesn't like this business of suddenly finding herself trapped. She calls out to her Pumpkaboo.]
Tulip! Help us.
[Tulip floats over, getting up in the face of the Machamp carrying Pamela and using Scary Face to try to intimidate it into letting Pamela go.]
no subject
Shirokuro, use Headbutt! ♫ [He points towards the Machamp that Tulip is trying to intimidate, and Shirokuro rushes over to try and help them out.]
no subject
[The scene freezes without any sort of drama whatsoever, unlike the other groups.]
I hate to interrupt a teaching moment, but one or several of you will learn that your greatest fear is to be caged and restricted without being allowed to be your true self, another that you despise being ignored and looked on as second best, and perhaps a third that to have your agency removed is the worst nightmare you could imagine.
However, I have need of your talents and this nightmare is absurd, regardless.
