Hello?...

[Warp bands are still too foreign for her and being this her first time ever trying to use the network she is actually pretty lost about how to use it. While she originally planned to use only the audio function for this she seems to have chosen video too by mistake, an error that now shows an image of her awkwardly close to the camera.]

I recently moved from Caldera and saw lots of cute decorations around. Can anyone tell me more about them?

[The amount of candy going around caught her attention more than the decorations though, as expected of a huge sweetooth like her.]

[Not only a young girl, a deerling and a surskit are sitting right by this fancy pokepuff shop snacking on a generous sized pack of them without any care in the world, though luckily not clogging the entrance at least, but they also have a surprising amount of luggage with them which only makes the scene even more bizarre. Few things can top the sight of a lively surskit eating pokepuffs that are about it's own size when it comes to absurd sights to begin with.

The girl finishes eating her own portion happily and casually wonders something before reaching for the next pink treat.]

Do you think they'll let me have the recipe, Deery?

[... The Deerling seems to have it's doubts about it.]

It's a bit mysterious for me though, I've never gotten to see a ghost pokemon so closely.

[She giggles a bit, honest in her words. Everything in Union is new and exciting to her, why wouldn't this be? she is a girl that lived in the middle of the desert for a long time.]

Sure! I'll be there in an hour!

[And just as she promised a young girl with a Deerling by her side can be sighted around Ninetales Vale, her gaze torn between the map she holds so firmly between her hands and her surroundings.]

It should be close...

[Hopefully she didn't get lost?]

[Rei recognizes the girl from the Warp Band, and just sort of stands there, watching her wander around in mild amusement for a few moments before waving to her.]

Kotori-san, over here.

[And that prompts Casius, a Growlithe, to take off towards Kotori sniffing all around her and Deerling. Hi, hello, are you a new friend? Or is he going to have to bite you? Please don’t make him bite you, you smell nice.]

[Please don't bully the bird, she is an innocent maiden that gets distracted easily.]

Ah, Rei!

[Once the priestess calls for her Kotori quickly makes her way to her side, her 'goal' now clearly in sight and the natural excitement of seeing her in person making her hurry her steps. She only slows down only once the Growlithe approaches her.]

Hello, I'm Kotori.

[As the young girl kneels down to reach for his paw in a proper greeting Deery watches the other pokemon a bit warily, nervous. He won't do anything until he can see how the puppy reacts to his trainer.]

[Rei is many things, but a bully is not one of them!

And seeing what the pup is up to, Rei can’t help but meander over and pat the Pokemon on the head as he in turn reaches out a paw to shake with Kotori. He’s being totally friendly, and if you’re not going to hurt his trainer then he’s totally good with you guys being his new best friends. His tongue lolls out happily and he gives the girl a lick on the hand. The not-paralyzing kind!]

This fuzzball is Casius. He’s friendly, as you can see, so don’t worry about him biting or anything.

[To Deery she adds]

Really, he only bites bad people and Pokemon.

[If the little pup expected to find any danger in Kotori it'll be disappointed since she is truly not a threat. She even giggles when he licks her hand, enjoying the offered sign of friendship.]

Aww, it's so cute~ nice to meet you, Casius! should I lick you back?

[She is joking, of course. ~~Hopefully~~.

Deery relaxes once Casius's lack of intent to harm his trainer is clear and Rei's words comfort him even further. He takes a step forward, towards the priestess, to greet her.]

[Casius quirks his doggy head to one side, questioningly. Do humans like licking too?]

He's the first wild Pokemon I bonded with. And I couldn't ask for a more loyal pet.

[When Deery approaches, Rei offers her hand to it, to give it a sniff or let it nuzzle or whatever it is deerlings do.]

[They do but normally not in public situations. In any case, Kotori sticks her tongue out as if seriously considering it. Kotori no.

Luckily for Rei Deerlings are quite simple in their approach, specially timid ones like Deery. He sniffs her hand with curiosity before bumping it with it's nose softly, giving her permission to pet him if she wishes to.]

[She will do so, Deery. Her hand might seem a bit warmer than Kotori's though, given her typing.

Casius chuffs a doggy laugh and moves closer, sniffing.]

She's lovely. With the way the weather is shifting, she'll look even more appropriate.

[Well, unlike any common sense would suggest Kotori does lick Casius's nose playfully. She is half pokemon after all.
The flavor is a topic better left untouched though.]

[Deery seems surprised by Rei's body temperature and lets out a soft 'Dee?', worried about her having a fever. It rubs it's head against her hand in an attempt to comfort the supposedly feverish trainer.

Rei's words make Kotori look her way once again.]

Indeed! it's really nice to see how Deerlings change according to the seasons, they seem like walking forests. Plus they are so fluffy...

[Short pause.]

Derry is a boy, by the way.

[Rei and Casius both will just decline to comment on what has occurred. But Rei renews petting the Deerling with a bit of gusto. It's alright dear, she's fire typed...]

Ah, I had no idea. I don't train with many grass types, honestly.

There aren't many differences between male and female Deerling, it's an easy mistake to make.

[Kotori reaches to pet Casius's jaw now, assuming that introductions are over. Fluffy~

Deery seems to be enjoying being petted. If Rei feels fine... but it's a bit worried all the same, having never met a fire type human.]

My Mother and I have a Deerling farm in Caldera if you ever want to see more. They are all healthy and cute.

Well, I'll have to go have a look at some point. I haven't been by Caldera in a while.

[Rei smiles at Deery and winks before standing up.]

Let's go, I'll show you the shrine and the festival supplies.

[Since Rei stands up Kotori does the same. Her expression brightens even more at the thought of getting to see the festival supplies.]

[She follows Rei obediently.]

[Rei will lead them through Ninetales Vale up to a very large hill. Quickly, she hops up the steps one by one with her Pokemon following, and once at the top Kotori will be treated to the sight of a traditional temple covered in decorations of all stripes. Duskull effigies, Gastly models, paper Golett lanterns, and all sorts of other ghost-related things hang around the trees and gates.]

We'll be putting out more shortly, but for now, this is a fairly modest beginning for us here.

[Amazing! while the whole Union is quite different from Caldera a place like this, one full of something from beyond and immersed in a completely different style, is the kind of sight she never expected to presence. To be honest she is in awe and openly staring at most decorations with a silly smile on her face.]

Wow... Ninetales Vale will look even better during Soulfeasting?

[She needs to stop by, definitely.]

It will, absolutely.

[Rei grins at her new friend, turning to look out over the Vale proper, instead of just the shrine. In a few weeks it'll be filled with all sorts of lanterns and costumes and...everything that just makes it...it.]

You'll need to get a mask, of course. And stop by. Hikawa Shrine is open during the whole festival, and I know the Kurains would love new visitors to their parties.

It will surely be beautiful...~ I'll definitely be here during the festival.

[Creative as she may be her lack of experience with this festivity makes it very hard for her to imagine how this area will look once preparations are finished. The mystery adds to her excitement.]

I was thinking in making my own costume and mask if it's no issue.

Oh absolutely. What are you thinking of dressing up as?

[She's genuinely curious, of course.]

I know the festival is about being scary but I'd like to dress up cutely too so I'm thinking of Jellycent, they are ominous but very round and squishy like water balloons.

[That's an interesting description of them.]

I...am not sure ominous is the right word.

[And as if summoned, her shiny Jellicent Tithonious floats into view. Hello girls, here he is in all his magnificent glory!]

I prefer pompous. And...I'm going as a Litwick.

[Oh Savior it's so cute she must hug it. The bird steps closer with hopeful eyes.]

[Tithonius blobs closer, and he will of course submit to being hugged! You may bask in his magnificence and be glad he has decided not to eat your life energy. Because he's so full of rice and fish and it's...delicious!

[It may not be the best idea to eat her life energy, it's bound to be too sweet for most being's tastes. Kotori's essence is quite sugary.]

[As expected she sure is enjoying hugging him. So squishy.]

I thought male Jellicent were blue, is he shiny?

He is, actually.

[Indeed! The most magnificent of shiny Pokemon. And hohoho, aren't you lucky you're away from water. He does like sugar...but it'd be awfully hard to drown you this far away from the sea. So...you may continue!

He may or may not in fact just be trying to make himself sound intimidating. Rei's done a number on his amoral human-eating ways.]

And it's an unusual coloration for a shiny even.
