Action:

[Honoka has made her way into various parts of the city, exploring it with her two pokémon. She's handing out the fruit off of Tropius's neck to anyone willing to take one. She also looks a little lost, and exhausted as she's just gotten into town not too long ago. She's been eating, but not what she wants to eat- and if you've got something tasty looking that isn't fruit, she's creepily staring at you, longing to have some herself. One little bite of that would be so great.

So much that she'll walk up to you and ask you where you got it after a time.]

[Now, after she's gotten a little bit to eat and sat down for a bit to rest from traveling, she turns the Warp Band on. The scene around her is of the sun starting to set, sitting on a park bench. Tropius is laying down next to the bench. Happiny sits in her lap, looking cheerful as ever, but tired.]

Hi! My name is Honoka, and I know none of you may know me yet but I have a favor to ask. I just got here from Caldera, and I don't have a place to stay yet... and I don't want to live out on the street! I would just need a few days, I promise I'll have something set up by then!

[Rei steps closer, reaching out to see if he minds being petted.]

I understand, though, what you mean. I started working with my Pokemon more after that incident as well. Though, I wasn't personally affected.

[honokairo]

[He doesn't mind, accepting the pets.]

Do you have a lot of them? [She asks curiously.]

More than some, less than others. Thirteen in total. How about you?

[honokairo]

Oh...I've only got these two. This is Areira. [She indicates Tropius.] He's been with me since I was little. And this- [She takes the Happiny out of her backpack-] is Ovumia! I found her wandering in Caldera one day, and took her home!

[faithfulflame]

Ah. [Rei beams at the Happiny] It sounds like you have a special connection with them then.

Are you intending to search for more? Or are just the two enough?

[She has a feeling she knows the answer already...]

[honokairo]

I'm going to go all over the place and talk to as many as I can! It's what I did in Caldera, and I know there's so many more!

Pokémon have so many interesting things to say, it's a shame not everyone can talk to them! [Guess what Honoka's special ability is...]

Oh? Are you able to read their thoughts?

[She's guessing Child of the Verdant Forest, like her cousin.]

I have some experience with that. My cousin can do that. For me? They just tend to follow along with me. I have a very easy time with connecting to them. I believe the term is called Kindred Soul.

[honokairo]

Oh, no, I can't read their thoughts, I can only understand a little of what they're saying. I've been practicing a little, I've been doing it since I was young.

[And being able to connect with them too, doesn't that just come with it?]

[faithfulflame]

So, you're like me then.

[Rei nods once, sure of it.]

I don't think bonding with Pokemon will be any problem for you. Honestly, I'd be more worried about you finding too many.

[honokairo]

Hold on, you can too? [That's interesting to her.] Not many in Caldera can do that. It's rare, my parents were surprised I could talk to the pokemon there.

Are you from Union? [She's assuming Rei is, but maybe she's not. Better make sure.]

[faithfulflame]

Yes. It's my ability. In Union we call people like us Kindred Souls.

[And she nods again.]

And yes, I am. But I've been to Caldera. It's a nice place.

[honokairo]

[She brightens a bit. She's glad to hear that Rei liked Caldera.]

I'm glad you think so! I've lived there all my life, and it means a lot to me. [But hey weren't they doing something?]

Let's go to your shrine, I want to see it!

[faithfulflame]

Alright, let's.

[Unfortunately, Teleport is single-person only, so...Rei and Deimos begin to lead the way out of the park, heading towards a really tall hill. Honoka was so close. So very very close.]

So, why did you come to Union without a place to stay, Honoka-san? That doesn't seem very prudent.

[honokairo]

Well, I didn't think it would be this hard! I was sure once I got here, I would be able to find something but I guess that wasn't the case...

[Really just not planning ahead in advance, not knowing all the details, etc...]

[faithfulflame]

Well you've got something. Don't worry about that, at least. The question of a job and other things, though, might take some work.

[Rei shrugs, not really concerned about the monetary aspects. Honoka could probably work something out.]

Are you still in school, or are you planning on working while you're here?

[honokairo]

Ah, well... [Yeah that's more stuff she didn't have planned.]

I'll need to enroll here, and get a part time job. My parents are helping me a little bit. I'm almost done with school. Two more years and I'll graduate.

Maybe I'll end up in the same school as you, Rei-san.

[faithfulflame]

Well, perhaps.

[Rei can't help but laugh slightly to herself. School...]

I stopped going to school regularly a few months ago. I was in my last year anyway, and I've been studying with my grandpapa to become a priestess at our shrine. But I do go to catch tests, at least.

[honokairo]

What's a catch test? [She's never heard of that.]

[faithfulflame]

Oh, I mean to make sure I make it to tests. I still study at home, I just don't go to regular class. It's because of my miko training, and my Pokemon training.

[honokairo]

Oh, so you'll be graduating like everyone else? [That's pretty cool.] I guess it would be too much to attend school, and do miko and pokémon training.

Don't you miss hanging out with friends though? [It seems like Rei is busy.]

[faithfulflame]

I will be, yes.

[Rei...stiffens...slightly at the question of friends. Even as far back as two months ago, she'd have frozen up entirely. Friends? Were...a luxury. And she had no classes with the ones she'd made.]

I...don't...have class with my friends.

[honokairo]

That's unfortunate. I had class with all my friends, and we could eat lunch together too. I really liked school, and that is part of the reason why.

I guess you can see them after they're done with their classes though, so it's not so bad.

[faithfulflame]

I...didn't.

[It's a simple admission, laced with a lot of subtle emotions. Talking about this sort of thing isn't really Rei's favorite topic.]

But I see Ami-chan and Usagi-chan and the others a lot. And we go exploring together. Now that they're discovering their powers, it's getting to be more commonplace.

[honokairo]

[Her face brightens.]

That's good. I'm glad you have a lot of people you can spend time with. Especially if you are going out exploring- it's dangerous out there, and it would be awful if something happened.

All of you are Enlightened then?

[faithfulflame]

Well, with my Pokemon, it's less so.

And...yes, most of us. I am, and Ami-chan and Usagi-chan just awakened. Mako-chan and Minako-chan aren't, though.

[As far as she knows ]
