Today on BNW: Beach Surprise! Ami's Special Birthday Gift...

Who: Usagi Tsukino, Ami Mizuno, Rei Hino, Makoto Kino, Minako Aino and any party crashers that may just so happen to be near the beach *cough*The outer senshi*cough*
Where: Beachside, south of Union!
What: Wouldn't you guess, it's Ami's birthday! Usagi's taken the time to set up a birthday camp expedition to the beach with food, swimming and games to show a certain book worm how birthdays should really be according to her mantra.
Warnings: You've got the usual senshi shenanigans with a dash of the Body Swap event mixed in. Sounds like a hilarious episode, doesn't it?




[ Thanks to a little birdie one Rei Hino, it was up to Usagi to come up with the best birthday she could in what little time she had. And after careful consideration for who this birthday was for, Usagi could only come up with nothing but beach fun! It was still warm enough that swimming wouldn't get any of them sick, but it was cool enough that they wouldn't die of heat.

So, with friends, pokemon, food and camping gear in tow, it's time for the best birthday that Usagi hoped would be the best birthday Ami would ever have! ]

ooc: So, since this log is pretty simple, it's only going to be separated by Friday and Saturday (for obvious reasons). Friday might have more in terms of playing around, helping Mako-chan with the food or pokemon shenanigans but otherwise, have fun! It's not every day one turns 17 after all. ;D Also, don't be surprised if threadjacking happens? A whole bunch of teenage girls in one place.. it's only natural that everyone is in each others' business... unless you state that you don't want thread jacking. that's fine too!

Water is really very fascinating, you know. It seeks a path of least resistance most of the time, causing rivers to be nothing but twists and turns. But even if it does bend and twist, with time it still weathers and smooths out the most difficult of oppositions in the way, broadening its path. While calm and gentle it allows itself to also become quite harsh, as seen in high pressure.

Oh, that much I've figured out. [As she gets further out, bubbles start to rise all around her, steam curling up around her body.] Water is something I've had to study, especially after I started training my body and my powers.

[She smiles ruefully at the Kingler heading their way.]

It's got quite a sting to it.

Ah! That's right. [Ami went over to Rei.] As a fire type, do you find yourself having difficulty in the water because of how effective it is to your type, or does it make no difference to you and you find yourself not feeling adverse to it at all?

Well, I may be weak against it...but I'm still human. It doesn't bother me much...but...well...

[She gestures to the steam] This happens.

Ah, so you can't use your fire moves. Still, you have your psychic abilities if you have any need, correct?

[Socrates is swimming literal circles around her and Rei, letting out happy trills while in the water.]

That's incredible that it would affect you in such a way.

No, no, I can use my fire moves. [She holds up a soggy hand, calling up a small flame.] My body is just warmer than yours is. And when it comes into contact with cool water, well...you know what happens.

I can certainly put the equation together.

Still, you're simply incredible Rei-chan. I could listen to you talk about your abilities for hours!

[She leaned back into the water and sighed in content when she felt herself relax, whatever worries she did have disappeared.]

Well, there's not much more to say about them, Ami-chan.

[Rei floated out a bit further and relented, warping in Hellenes from her band and letting the Magikarp swim a circuit around Ami.]

Besides, I'd rather here more about you. How've you been enjoying your birthday so far?

More about me? [Ami was still so very unused to talking about herself, even to her friends.]

Oh, I am, yes. I love it. I don't think I've ever had such a lively one before!

[It's okay, you're in good company, Ami. Rei isn't either, hence DEFLECTION!]

Really? Never? What have you done in the past?

My mother and I would just have a small cake together and my dad would send me a recent painting from somewhere in his travels.

Oh? Your father is a traveler? Like a Trainer?

No, a painter. He rather paint pokemon.

Rather paint Pokemon than...stay with you?

[Her smile drops a little. She does love her father and she's glad he's following his dreams. He's the one who taught her how to swim and how to play chess. She grows silent, merely because she has no idea how to answer such a question.]

[Rei...has very, very very strong opinions about fathers and the role they should play. Or...shouldn't, in her case. But seeing that expression, even without the psychic impression, is enough to tell her that she's screwed up.

In a bid to make up for that, she swims closer and reaches for Ami's hand.]

I didn't...mean it that way. I think...you're lucky to have your mother. And a father who sends you paintings too. S-sorry. Family...is a bit of a...well...sour topic for me. I shouldn't project my problems onto other people.

[She holds Rei's hand and offers a smile, her wet bangs sticking to her forehead.]

It's very brave of him, seeking his dream like that. It's alright Rei-chan, I am lucky, because I have you and the others now too, not just my mother.

[Warm fingers curl around Ami's and Rei nods once in affirmation.]

It's true. You do have her. And us. That...counts for a lot. [A whole lot.]

That's far more than I've ever had before, and it means everything to me. [She tilts her head as she pulls Rei further out into the ocean.]

As soon as I met you and the others I felt like a missing piece was finally found.

[Allowing herself to be pulled along, she smiles faintly before expelling a breath.]

Because...that's how it was meant to be. We're linked. All of us.

I think so too, though you may be more attuned to it than I, but it felt so easy being with you. I feel like myself.

Well, I may be the one who can see the connection best, but that doesn't mean that I am the most in touch with it. I would say that is Usagi-chan.

She is rather incredible, isn't she? But I don't think Usagi-chan even realizes it, I think to her it's just innate, potentially just a natural desire for her that she doesn't question.

She's...something alright. A link, a nexus...like a convergence of fate.
