Bright sun, warm sands, rolling waves, the tropical island was the place to be. With the new port making travel out much easier, the island was seeing a surge in tourism. Something about fighting giant fiery gods must have made people eager to jump into the water and relax.

[Loud as ever, Maya throws her arms around Nozomi's shoulders from behind, putting her hands over Nozomi's eyes.]

Guess who it is. [As if it isn't obvious.

Clad in a lavender gauze dress of her own, Maya's polkadotted suit is only visible because of the bright pinky-purple spots on it.]

[Not expecting it, Maya nearly bowls her over, getting a bit of a laugh from Nozomi.]

I've got no idea!

Wow, somebody's getting rusty.

[And just to be a jerk, Maya plants a big stupid kiss on her cousin's cheek, attempting to lean her over even more with it.]

What'cha up to?

[Eww cousin cooties good thing she got a cootie shot when she was six or she'd be done for!]

Watching mostly. You?

Yeeaaah, pretty much the same.

[She lets go, finally, to sit next to Nozomi.]

It's pretty busy right now, and Shinrei's never seen a crowd like this before. [From her hiding place in Maya's hair, Shinrei gives a greeting with that usual tinkly gastly cry.]

[Cutie ghost baby, Nozomi gives you a sweet smile.]

Don't like people, Shinrei? That's too bad, I'm sure everyone would love you.

[Shinrei makes a hesitant noise then, and Maya giggles.]

She might warm up once I let her watch a few of the lessons.

I bet everyone will want to be friends with her, then.

[Shinrei takes the opportunity to hide back in Maya's hair with a few happy chimes, and Maya rolls her eyes with a smile.]

You're gonna make 'er blush.

C'mon, how've you been lately? I've been out of the loop.

Whoops~

[That's how much she cares about making cutie ghost blush.]

Pretty good. I've been trying to leave the city more often. It's been really fun.

I noticed, lucky duck. I try to go out once every two weeks or something, at least. Shi's just been really insistent we train before going around picking up anymore 'roommates'.

[She gives the word airquotes, making a face. Gosh, Shi, don't be such a mom.]

Tell her you're going out to train, then.

[She winks.]

...You just want me to get in trouble with her, don't you?

I can lie to aunt Morgan, but it's like Shi knows everything.

Anything worth doing is worth a little danger. Or something like that.

I believe in you, Maya.

[So yes, maybe a little.]

Uhhh-huh. So you've been in a little danger recently, huh?

I mean, if you've been having so much fun.

[That gets a bit of a frown from Nozomi.]

Jinxie told you then, huh?

...told me what?

[LEANS CLOSER]

[...She didn't, did she?]

Nothing really. I just got into a little trouble with some raiders, but we made it out okay.

--you didn't tell me that! And neither did Jinxie!

[Maya pouts, crossing her arms.]

Stupid raids... At least you're okay, though.

[Then she didn't spill about her little slip, either. Good.]

One of the girls with us is a skilled fighter, and she was able to chase them off.

Oh. That's good.

[She pauses.]

Is she cute?

[MAYA.]

...what, you don't think girls are cute?

[Maya raises a brow.
Oh Nozomi. You think the girl is cute don't you.]

...I don't know why we're talking about this!

It was just a question. But if you're gonna get all shy about it...

[She'll let Nozo-- HAHA YEAH RIGHT.]
