2nd Dream [Video/Action]
[The camera rattles a bit as Yuuna adjusts it, though the first visible thing is a screenful of glittering ice that gradually pans out to show a Pokemon's face. It wobbles a bit more, and then there's Yuuna, standing in the shadow of this gigantic creature. She's grinning ear to ear, but there's a hint of embarrassment in her voice when she speaks up.]
So...my Bergmite evolved. I didn't know he was going to get so big, though, and while he's certainly an impressive sight I was sort of wondering if anyone had advice for caring for a Pokemon this large.
[She reaches up, running a hand along it's cheek, the big guy replying with a somewhat subdued Luuugggg.]
I mean, I don't think it'll be difficult since Hyozan's a real sweetie, but he seems to be having trouble adjusting to his new size. He was pretty bad about crashing into stuff before, but that was when he was little. Now he's...well...clearly not so small, and I don't want him hurting anyone on accident. So, uh, suggestions would be great.
[She looks up at the big guy one more time, smiling with obvious affection. He may be an enormous ice block with eyes, and a hazard when he's not careful, but he's still a valued friend. After another moment, her gaze snaps back to the camera and she adds.]
Oh and this is sort of related. My Hariyama Hiroshi evolved too, and I don't want him to feel left out, so I thought I'd share. He's kinda been grouchy and jealous since he's kind of literally is overshadowed by Hyozan, so if you happen to run into us could you do me a favor and congratulate him? I think he'd appreciate it.
Anywho...yeah, I think that's about it. If anyone needs me, I think we'll be down by the lake resting and getting ready for most of the day. Then we're heading towards Citadel.
[With a wave, the feed closes down.]
Action
[Early in the day, anyone outside Union could hardly fail to miss the stomping sound of feet as a walking iceberg meanders by, a heavy duty blanket laid out over it's back. Atop the creature is Yuuna and the vast majority of her team, though a Hariyama and Hitmonchan are running along beside it, racing or training or something.
And as the afternoon hits, completely true to her word, Yuuna and her team are down by the lake shrine, just sort of hanging out. The human herself is laying out in the sun, head resting in her arms as she looks up at the sky, while her glacial titan has taken to Lillipup-Paddling around the lake, several unfortunate Magikarp caught in the wake he leaves behind. Zedd seems to have broken it's habit of orbiting it's trainer, but the Magneton is not too far off juggling several small steel balls by spinning magnetic appendages around it's body.
The green-eyed Hariyama is off in the shade, practicing it's hand-slaps against a boulder, while the rest of her Pokemon are scampering around playing. A little Larvitar seems to be chasing the newest member of the group, a small Golett, around the lake shore but who can say really? The ghost-type may just be humoring him. Gouken the Hitmonchan punches a bag held up by a Poliwhirl, though, a serious expression on his face. He's not good at laying off from training at all and never has been.
A relaxing day, really, and one she wouldn't mind sharing with other humans.]

Still, she smirks. ] I'll give you that.
[ Beartic has finished taking the ice out of her paw, so she sits up again. Are we going anywhere in particular, or just cruising the lake? ] Bear?
no subject
Been out training long, yourself?
[They aren't going anywhere in particular unless she wants to. Avalugg is letting Beartic call the shots today! After all, you're paying him special attention...] Luuuugggg
no subject
[ Haruka shrugs. ] Actors have more free time than racers. They need a wider variety of experiences, too.
[ She looks over at Beartic. ] It's useful.
no subject
It is. I can imagine you’ve got some stories to tell about that one. [Beartic, of course, just seems like quite the character.]
no subject
....For whom she shifts her considerable bulk to make room atop Avalugg if Uzushio wanted to take a break and ride with her. She supposes she can permit it. Since there's plenty of space. ] Bear.
[ Haruka just chuckles. This is a case in point, so yeah, she won't elaborate. ] Everybody works hard.
[ Which is, frankly, the difference between them and their Trainer. But she's never had to work hard for anything, so it's kind of encouraging to see them all trying.
She looks around the group. Now there's a thought. ] You said they do a lot of sparring?
no subject
Whirrrrlll.
[A chance to swim in the cool water? Or freeze his behind on Hyozan? Hmmm...no. But he'll keep up easily, traveling in the big guy's wake.]
They do, yes. Fighting types live for it. Why?
[She has a guess...but may as well play coy for now. The boys could always use new partners.]
no subject
[ Haruka settles back to wait. ] The wild Pokémon are too weak to bother training with.
no subject
Gouken's ears perk up at the conversation he'd been half listening to, and the Hitmonchan rolls his arm in it's socket. Fight an Ice Type? Please, Yuuna. Can he?]
They can be. But if it's a match you're after, I'll have to say only a quick one. Today's a day for relaxing before we head north. I don't want my Pokemon too tired to fight if there's trouble on the way.
no subject
[ She'll be working against type disadvantage, anyway. Stoicism training is a big part of her regime for her Pokémon - she also took this bear into a hot spring once. (It cost her a small fortune in snotty towels.)
Beartic slides off Avalugg with a deep curtsy-bow once they reach the shore - thank you ever so much for being accommodating, it was a pleasure. And then she turns to look at everymon else, drawing herself up to her full intimidating height. Who shall she test her mettle against? ] Bear?
no subject
[Hitmonchan steps forward, popping his neck as he does so. He's fought bigger things than you, Beartic. You're no Onix, anyway. His boxing-glove like hands pound together and then he bows at the waist in a proper martial greeting before taking a stance.
Yuuna steps back, keeping well clear.]
Alright. Whenever you're ready, Haruka.
no subject
Bear!
[ And she opens with a mighty Brine!
...What? She loves this attack. She has put out so many fires with it, and a wet opponent freezes more easily. ]
no subject
Still struck, Gouken folds his arms and blocks more of what he can before rushing forward at full tilt. The nimble boxer skips forward with surprising Agility, easily covering the ground for now, fist lashing out with another Vacuum Wave. He's hoping to stun the big beast, and knows he's got all the type advantages even before he gets to the meat of his tricks...]
no subject
Bearr! [ Beartic swings, hoping that even though the Vacuum Wave will hit first she can get in an Icicle Crash. That should give her time to recover, especially since the opponent's already wet....
Since ow. She's going to need to. Beartic stumbles back, shakes herself out, and roars. If you hit her that hard you'll bruise her! And then it'll hurt to groom herself! Do you know how hard it is to keep this fur in pristine condition?!
Eyes on the prize, Beartic. Haruka thinks hard. They'll have to really get creative with this one. ]
no subject
[Yuuna's command is calm, collected, and unworried. She and Hitmonchan had been training partners since they were children, and in more ways than one she acted as his eyes. Her kinship with fighting types aside, there was more to it than that with Gouken.
The Agility'd up humanoid obeys without question, dropping into a forward roll and narrowly avoiding the falling ice. Shards of it rattle off his back, leaving small nicks and causing a grunt of pain/annoyance, but he keeps moving. His movements are slower than before, but Yuuna speaks up once again, a gentle reminder.]
First rule, Gouken.
[Always keep moving. Never stop. He rolls again, coming within striking distance of the stumbling bear, and swinging a fist up in a flaming uppercut. Fire Punch, he figures, ought to thaw out the big fuzzball.]
Chan!
no subject
Perfect. Haruka doesn't flinch, not even when she smells burning fur and Beartic gnashes her teeth to keep from complaining again. You - you - it singed! And it was hot! That hurt! So much she almost fell on her butt!!!
She hauls a paw back to sock Gokuen a good, old-fashioned punch to the face, but Haruka knows how that bout would end so she interrupts it. ] Dig.
[ ...Did she just hear you right, Trainer? Did you not hear the part where her fur was already singed, and now you want her to get it....Fine. Beartic trusts Haruka absolutely, but it's still with a grunt of dissatisfaction that she dives for the ground instead, plowing into it to hide her considerable bulk from view. She's a sitting duck if she stays a land-based target - and Haruka, used to moving at high speeds, can track the opponent's movements better than Beartic. She'll use the Trainer-Pokémon bond to serve as Beartic's eyes.
All right, Gokuen. Can you move fast enough to fool even Haruka? ]
no subject
So, what does Hitmonchan do? He gets off the ground! Leaping clear of the soft earth and landing on one of the myriad of ice-chunks floating in the lake, he lands nimbly and watches for any sign of his opponent, eyes sweeping as he uses his own Foresight and Yuuna's senses too.
You can't hide down there forever, and when you show up...he's got a surprise for you.]
no subject
It'll all depend, she supposes, on whether Beartic can knock her opponent into the water when next they engage. That'll involve taking another hit, however, and she's not sure how many more the bear can sustain....from a position like that you have to be planning something...
Well, nothing for it but to try. Beartic erupts out with absolutely no guard, claws outstretched. She makes a prime target, but she's also a furry missile barreling single-mindedly with the intent of knocking Gokuen over into the lake. With no other options, it's worth the gamble.
She's also kind of curious what Yuuna and Hitmonchan are planning. Haruka wouldn't mind taking on this woman's Pokémon herself sometime. ]
no subject
As the enormous, fuzzy missile explodes through the air, Hitmonchan drops onto his back, letting the Ice type sail over him. As she does, Yuuna snaps an order.]
Drain Punch.
[And out snaps a fist, dark swirls of energy surrounding it aimed for Beartic's middle with the intent of draining away some energy and making it more difficult for the big bear to keep going. And have the added side effect of recharging Gouken's battery a bit, if not outright ending the match there.]
no subject
Beartic is moving too fast for that punch to connect very long, but she hits the water with a splash that is anything but graceful. Her head eventually pops up as far from Gouken's perch as she can get, treading water but breathing heavily. Somehow, she has managed to Endure.
Haruka raises a hand anyway, though. ] Right, that's a friendly match. We'll have to do this again when we can both get serious.
Bear! [ Beartic protests. She's okay! She's sore, but she's a big girl! She can take....it....
She has to sneeze. And maybe she's a little bit passive-aggressive, but it comes out alongside a Powder Snow. ]
no subject
I agree. Maybe in a few weeks when all of this settles down a bit. I know Gouken won't mind. My others too.
[A smile follows, admittedly somewhat cheeky...but friendly all the same. She closes the distance and offers Haruka a hand. She'd...do the same for Beartic but the cold water and her current state of wearing only bikini and suit-shorts would probably have her sneezing too.]
The trick with the dig was clever. I like it, but Gouken's sparred with Kyo too much I think. Still, she's tough to be able to take his Fire Punches.
no subject
manrilyfirmly. ] Compensating for weakness is important. You've learned it, too.[ Not a type weakness, but a...bulk weakness. That is a lot of bear, but you hit her where it counted.
Beartic doesn't look like she's inclined to leave the water anytime soon, but when Magikarp start surfacing around her with bad cases of the shivers she supposes she'd better. Climbing out, she shakes herself off as daintily as she can and then, though she looks away, offers Gouken her paw. Y-you're a brute, but a clever brute. She supposes she accepts that, had this battle been prolonged, she might have lost. ] Bear.
[ Congratulations, she's going to spend the next few days in the Habitat independently working on her hand-to-hand (claw-to-hand?) when nobody's looking. Even if that's not how her Trainer had her fight this fight, she wants to be capable of withstanding anything! That way she can protect her Trainer. ]
phone prose
"We've learned the importance of being able to adapt, for sure. But anyway, that was a fun match. I'm sure a full one will be even more interesting."
Hitmonchan shakes too, nodding cheerfully. He's cool with being a brute. That's what fighting types often are. But you're alright too, Ms. Beartic. Though...he's pretty sure you'll never be able to keep up with him in hand to hand...or claw...or...paw...

Haruka smiles in response to Yuuna's hopes, then steps back. Better take her leave and get some first aid. Sky was bearly hanging in there towards the end, after all. ] Good luck this week.
[ Maybe she won't take Beartic onto the Plains herself. She'll give Sky a regimen to work on, use this fight as an impetus to get her feeling more ambitious... ]

[ Haruka gives the gathering a wave before turning to go. Beartic dips low for one final curtsy, then waves at Avalugg. Thank you again! She must be off!
Yet no matter how gracefully she attempts to step, or how much care she takes moving her battle-worn body, she's still kicking up a ruckus in the underbrush. ]
