Tiny recluse is still tiny, but not so reclusive -- especially not now that he has a new friend to visit and care for (new friend is a Steelix named Gertrude, fyi). Armin thinks it rude to leave his buddy all alone in the Habitats all the time, so an escape attempt has been performed!

Granted, his grandfather has been extra-busy with council-y business in the wake of the ore crisis, so it wasn't that hard for Armin and Meredith to sneak out. But still, they're free! They're out! He should be feeling very proud of himself, walking along the streets like a normal civilian. He should be all but skipping along the sidewalk, perhaps whistling a cheery tune.

Except he's not. Because, as it turns out, bonding with an enormous Pokemon sort of leaves you drained, mentally, physically and emotionally, and Armin doesn't have much emotion strength to spare. So he's sort of creeping along the street, frowning, radiating a tangible -- literally; if any passers-by aren't psychically prepared, his emotions are going to bleed over onto them -- aura of discomfort, nausea and exhaustion.

This also means that if anyone with a particularly potent emotional state passes by, it's going to hit Armin like a ton of bricks. Case in point: the loving couple who sidesteps boy and Ralts, drawing an uncharacteristic scowl from both.]

Ug. Indecent.

Okay... [Bertholdt formailies skills lacking, no 'move along, sir' just simple casual answers. He leaves Armin to his business then, passing the other and this time without collision.]

Take good care of your Ralts, remember urban flavor. They put a sticker on the backs of Pokemon food and treats to help business owners know what is what but most common folk don't realize what they are for.

I'm sure you buy Urban diet but their are other, little things, that all Pokemon need specially. [That's the most he's talked to a stranger in a long time.. Of course, it's about Pokemon.]

I see. [Armin doesn't mention that he usually doesn't go out and has never actually been to a Pokemon store. But he does smile, happy for the help.]

You know a lot about Pokemon, don't you?

Ah.. You could say that, yes.. [He pulls his hood around both Magby and himself a little more, keeping his ears out of sight out of habit.]

I'm a shifter.. so I understand Pokemon differently from humans...

[Have some starry-eyed delight.] That's amazing!

.... Yes. [His answer was shy, hands keeping to his hood. Bertholdt knows he shouldn't continue this conversation, there are people who favor Enlightened but also those who have jealousy.]

Really? [Armin is all curiosity now, ducking down to try and meet the much taller boy's eyes.] What happened?

[T-This is a bit personal, Armin, CAN YOU NOT?] .... When I was young, my mother died.. I was raised by myself, other orphans, and the Pokemon from the Habitat..

I found soon after that the fire-types there showed a connection with me and around seven I transformed for the first time.. [He's not sure why he's telling the other boy all this information but in a way, it feels nice..]
