The Raids

[As the people of Union begin to move out into the plains, they'll find that the Councilor's warnings were apt. Though not everyone is targeted, it isn't long before a few unlucky travelers find themselves on the receiving end of the same type of attack. The bandits, whoever they might be, are experts at swooping out of the blue, striking so swiftly that the victims almost never even catch a glimpse of them.

How exactly will they put this to a stop? There's so many, it seems impossible to take them out one group at a time... Perhaps they have a base somewhere.]

((This post is for both groups who wish for mods to run and players to thread freely amongst themselves. You may feel free to handwave having been attacked and thread the aftermath of that event. Please respond to the appropriate section depending on where your character is. Thanks!))

Argh!

[When the shockwave hits them, Nate is blown back a few feet from the force and Flynn flattens himself as best as he can. He tightens his grip to keep himself from plummeting down to his grave while Nate rights himself.]

Gah!

[ Robin and his Crobat get blasted back from the shockwave. Thankfully, Robin managed to keep on the bat Pokemon, but they nearly plummeted to the ground from the shock. ]

Looks like we're in for some action.

[ With that he'll bring out two more flying Pokemon from his warp band: a Honchkrow and a Swoobat. From the look of things they're going to need all the manpower they can bring out. ]

[Apollo grits his teeth and lets out a soft grunt as the shockwave knocks Talonflame back. His harness keeps him from falling as Talonflame fights his way back to stable flight position, though he holds on anyways. Once he doesn't need to worry about falling as much, he warps in his Vivillon, the only other flier he has linked to his Warp Band at the moment. She's low-level still, but she knows Protect so she'll still be able to help with whoever's attacking them.]

Are you two okay?

I'm fine.

[Flynn takes the time to make sure his Drifblim is all right before calling in Oberon. He turns his attention to the dots in the distance, ready for whatever fight they might be entering right about now.]

Fine over here.

[ A quick response for Apollo before he looks to his other two Pokemon and giving them a few simple commands. He'll give them better commands once the fight comes but general commands in case something happens should suffice. ]

[It comes quicker than they may expect. Tailspin and Agility mean that in the blink of an eye, those dots are large figures clipping towards them at blinding speeds. Three or four race past with Wing Attacks to smash into each of the opposing fliers while they're still off-guard from the Boomburst.]

[The attackers come in so fast that they hit before Vivillon can finish forming her Protect barrier. It's only luck of her position relative to the attackers that she doesn't get hit by a Wing Attack and taken out right away. Talonflame gets hit though, and the Calderan harness discharges at the contact, dealing a small amount of Electric-type damage to the attacker. Apollo's already healing Talonflame's injury while it stabilizes its flight, and he mentally calls Vivillon over to latch onto his back at the same time, which it barely manages to do with all the tumbling. Immediately after, Apollo and Talonflame both use Agility and begin evading as they try and track where all of the attackers are.]

[Flynn isn't so lucky as Nate is hit dead on by one Wing Attack, pushing them back even more. Oberon is hard-pressed to dodge the attacks since one could knock him out of the sky easily. Flynn grits his teeth and reaches for his sword, his left arm becoming coated in steel.

Nate recovers again but its clear that he won't be able to keep up much longer. While Flynn flags down Oberon to get him to stick close so he can protect him better, the Drifblim uses Minimize to make itself look smaller.]

[ Due to the extra weight Bats wasn't quick enough to avoid the speedy Wing Attack. Thankfully, they weren't hit dead on, but it still hits them to where they had to take time to stabilize. However, while Bats and Robin do that his other two flying types take initiative, managing to either brave or dodge an incoming attack and retort with their own. Nightwing takes on one with Night Shade while Barbara takes on another by using Psychic ]

The raiders will dance through the air with graceful, dizzying moves. ...It seems there is some hesitance in their actions, though. Did these people even have any supplies they could take? It looked more like it was going to be a waste of time and energy.

But they've begun the attack, so they might as well continue.

One of them is definitely moving a bit slower than the others, having been zapped by Apollo. Night Shade does nothing to this group of Swellow, Pidgeot, and Staraptor, and another will go diving awkwardly out of the way to avoid the Psychic, leaving two raiders free to attack as they please.

Recognizing those that are particularly susceptible to their attacks, they'll aim for Oberon and Vivillon to take them out of the fight, sending Air Slashes hurling their way.

[Not wanting to rely on Protect before it resets, Vivillon fires a Psybeam at her attackers as she attempts to dodge. Unfortunately, she fails to completely dodge one Air Slash and takes it to a wing. Seeing her start to go down with her loss of flight control, Apollo warps her back before she's too far away; he could heal her, but mid-air during a battle is neither the time nor the place for that.

Apollo's worried about Vivillon's condition, but he needs to worry about himself first. Talonflame uses Quick Attack at the nearest attacker and Apollo uses Psyshock at another, though with Talonflame's motion Apollo's attack isn't as well aimed.

Oberon!

[Shoot, not good! The Beautifly was determined not to get hit. But determination wasn't always enough since he gets clipped by the attack and his flight path becomes messed up. Flynn directs Nate to get them closer to Oberon so he can catch him and keep him close.

He turns his attention back to their attackers as does Nate. The Drifblim then opts to use Payback on one of them.]

[Quick Attack strikes easily, sending one of the raiders, a Swellow, spinning to the side, though it's not too badly injured and recovers quickly. Psyshock arches wide - these birds are moving so quickly that it's hard to get in projectile attacks that require some aiming.

Payback, though, stops one short - a Pidgeot - and it goes diving into a tailspin.

This leaves another Swellow and a Staraptor. The former will flap back a ways now and aim to smash straight into Apollo with a Brave Bird; the latter rears up against Drifblim and Wing Attacks it.]

[Talonflame sees the incoming Brave Bird and, before Apollo can question the wisdom of the action, decides to play chicken and uses Flame Charge. Talonflame's not going to back down and all Apollo can do is hug his body as close to Talonflame's as possible to make a smaller target.]

[Flynn makes the decision to lash out with the back of his blade to attempt to parry the oncoming Wing Attack or at least deter the Swellow so it would miss. Oberon meanwhile fires off a String Shot at their foes, having had enough of hiding behind Flynn.]

[ While the attackers seem busy with Apollo's and Flynn's Pokemon Robins Pokemon have flown around to try and take the attackers by surprise. Honckrow comes in with a Wing Attack while Swoobat attacks with another Psychic. Robin on Crobat also comes swooping in with Crobat aiming at one of the targets with a Poison Fang. ]

[Chicken may or may not be a wise move, but Talonflame and Swellow will slam hard into each other! Who is going to faint first...? It's hard to tell how damaged it is as Swellow goes careening off, but the Brave Bird certainly carried a hefty punch.

The blade will glance off the Wing Attack and both of them will go bouncing away without taking too much pain. String Shot is an excellent move though as the spurt of webbing binds Swellow's wings to its body! It goes crashing right into a tree.

The other two raiders will rise up to meet Honchkrow and Swoobat, and while the one deals with Honchkrow with a Wing Attack of its own, the other has to swerve out of the Psychic and avoid Crobat as well. It doesn't do quite as well.

All of this is interrupted briefly as another Boomburst resonates across the area.]

[Odds are on the bird whose rider can heal them before they lose consciousness, though Talonflame's too dizzy to do more than fly around drunkenly. Apollo's too busy healing to do anything else immediately, and they're both too preoccupied to do anything about the Boomburst. They go spinning through the air as it hits, Apollo mentally yelling at Talonflame to stabilize their flight before Talonflame comes to his senses and manages to do so, though not near fast enough for them to be able to do anything useful this turn.]

[Oberon had been about to give a victorious trill because, ha, take that evil-doers. But the Boomburst cut that short and they are all sent back by the force, the Beautifly even more so due to how light he was.]
