✓ Memoir 2 // action
Hawke's been plenty busy these past weeks helping refugees and running errands for people; he's finally getting used to the city, and becoming familiar with it, as well.
It's not unusual to see him walking to and fro trailed by a pack of puppy Pokémon. The Houndour sticks to his side like a second shadow, but the Lillipup, Vulpix, and Growlithe all have a tendency to trail behind from time to time when an interesting person or Pokémon catches their attention.
Lillipup will busily investigate anyone sitting on a bench or at an outdoor cafe table, sniffing efficiently to determine if there might be any forthcoming treats.
Vulpix is mostly attracted to people or Pokémon that appear to be alone. She herself doesn't like to be alone, so when she notices that condition in others, she makes an effort to change it.
Growlithe likes to join groups, especially if it looks like a game is going on. If you're training with your pokemon, don't be too surprised if you suddenly find yourself with an addition!
Hawke is pretty good about noticing the straggler and doubling back to collect, but sometimes it takes a few minutes. Plenty of time to make a new friend!
[ooc: If you'd rather talk to Hawke directly instead of engaging one of his puppies, feel free to start a new thread!]

[Polite begging is better than rude begging. He guesses. Paladin, for her part, finishes licking her chops and sits down again, this time on Hawke's foot.]
...I've never seen a Pokemon like that, before.
[Michiru's whatever-it-is is very pretty, even if he's not too sure about all the sparkles.]

[the Pokemon finally looks up at Hawke, half the Pokepuffs in the case having been demolished]
Miiiii. [at least it's a perfectly polite greeting]
She's a Milotic. [Michiru holds up a hand to the Pokemon and Melody gently bumps it with her nose] She's ostensibly a Water type, but levitation isn't beyond her abilities.
[
according to the anime, in any case]no subject
[Aww, she's cute!]
I'm no expert on Water types, so I'll take your word on that one.
[She does look kind of fish-y, he guesses.]
Where did she come from?
[Somewhere watery, probably. His least favorite kind of place.]
no subject
The swamps. She was only about this big. [holding out her hands. Yeah, that foot long fish grew into this 15+ ft monster.
And she'll scratch Melody right above the eyecrest where she likes it. At least there aren't any baby pictures, right?] I don't think Milotic will quite fit in with your pack, however.
no subject
[Color him impressed! She should have taken baby pictures, though. Baby pictures are the best!]
No, I don't think she'd fit in, either. She's much too elegant.
[And also a
ickyWater-type. He has no experience with Water-types. They're probably tricky. Fire-types are much more his thing.]no subject
Where are the rest of your Pokémon? [they give off the impression that they're stuck on you like a burr or twenty.
Hearing that, Melody turns back to her snacks and swallows a Pokepuff whole.]
no subject
[And he's only got the four. Said friend has twice that, and tends to wander with all of them in tow; he's still not sure how she manages them all. He looks down at the unrepentant Lillipup as he continues:]
Though I think I won't be leaving Sergeant behind anymore when it's Paladin's turn to go out.
[Because Sergeant doesn't wander off, and he'll alert Hawke to any wanderings Paladin might attempt before she can get away. The Lillipup obviously realizes this, and looks up at him, pouting. He's unimpressed.]
no subject
That might be a good idea, or people will start thinking you don't feed him. [Milotic rolls her eyes a little at that.]
no subject
[A-aww, wait, Garrett, that's not true...! Lillipup's ability to act like she gives no fucks has apparently vanished, and she rises up on her back legs to paw at Hawke's knees. She's sorry! She doesn't know why she wants to eat all the time, she just does, and it's hard not to beg.
He sighs a little as he bends down to pick her up, but he's smiling too.]
You're probably going to get even worse when you evolve, aren't you?
[Paladin's response to that is a full-body wiggle and to stretch until she's able to lick his chin.]
...whoops. we'll pretend I used the correct pronoun.
[much too cute, really]
way ahead of you o7
[He'll look down at Paladin to confirm.
Oops...I forgot. She chirrups a little bark at the prompting, though, looking at Melody. Thank you for sharing! It was yummy!]
Good girl.

She reaches into her box and gently picks up a different flavored Pokepuff, holding it out to Paladin. Well, Hawke, since he's the one with a free hand.
Michiru's smile gets fonder.]
no subject
Thank you, Melody!
[What a sweet gesture. To be expected of a pokemon bonded with the very classy and generous Michiru Kaioh, he supposes, but still.
Yes! Thank you very much! Paladin squeaks happily, as her wiggles calm down to simple tail wags.]
