The Battle for Caldera

The time for action is at hand, and the players have been set in place. Those who choose to make an attempt at diplomacy head off at the appointed time to meet with Valeria, the clerk and representative of the general who leads the Gigas army. Those who wish to take more direct action against Gigas leave with General Ironbrand to put their plans into motion. In the meantime, the refugees continue to stream into Union, while supplies are gathered and flow the other way.

The outcome of this war may very well depend on the combined results of these four efforts…

((This log will be a catch-all for all four efforts of the attempt to save Caldera. There will be four different parts of this post: Diplomacy, Aggression, Refugees, and Supplies. The first two should be well established, but the Refugees portion will encompass bringing those in Caldera who require help to Union and giving them medical aid and care, while the Supplies portion will encompass people in Union setting up shelters and gathering resources to send back to Caldera, as well as other miscellaneous tasks that may be of help. Gathering resources may entail leaving Union to explore out in other areas. You all signed up for groups, so please try to maintain these groups when posting, particularly to the Diplomacy and Aggression sections. The other two may be more free-form.

Mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the logs moving.

EDIT 5/31: Please try to group up if possible! We'll generally try to wait for threads to have 2-3 people before we jump in. Threads with 3+ may attract the attention of something a little more... interesting.))

[Mari waves her hand for Sanageyama to follow her, and moves to the man on the ground as quickly as possible.]

Are you alright? Just a moment, we'll help you up.

[Sanageyama immediately follows, then crouches down next to the guy.]

Here. Drape your arm around my shoulders.

[He slowly pulls himself up with a grunt and some effort, only managing to get up part-way. As a medic, Mari may note that the leg is still hanging at a very peculiar angle.]

Damn it...

[He shakes his head.]

You folks get everyone else back to your city. I'm just slowin' it all down.

[As if to punctuate his words, a high-pitched whistling noise from overhead will draw attention to what seems to be a cluster of bombs being launched over the city walls...

Bombs with... faces...]

[At the sound of the whistling, Nidoking growls and steps in front of the humans. Electricity sparks around his mouth as he prepares a Thunderbolt for whenever the bombs get in range. Kirlia stands behind him, casting a Lucky Chant for defense.

Mari glances over at the two of them, but she can't cast any of her own attacks and help move the injured man at the same time. So she decides to trust them, quickly turns back to him, and gives him a reassuring smile.]

It's alright, we can still move quickly enough. Just put your arms over our shoulders like my assistant says, we'll get you to safety too.

[Assistant? Sanageyama can't help but chuckle, even with a barrage of Electrode coming down upon them.]

So now I'm an assistant, am I?

[He rolls with it, though. He'll just take a moment to activate his warp band first.]

Martel, Seed Bomb!

[The warp band summons a Pansage, which lobs large seeds up into the air. Hopefully it can take out the Electrode before they get close enough to deal damage to anything or anyone.]

[The 'bombs' will spread out in the air as they fly; most of them sail beyond what Mari and Sanageyama can reasonably deal with. With any luck, there will be someone nearby to defuse those.

Two land quite close by, though. One has been struck with the Seed Bomb and crackles dangerously; the other one grins cruelly before slowly beginning to gather energy.

The man attempts to stumble away quickly at this.]

Get outta here! Those things'll take down entire blocks if they go off!
