The Battle for Caldera

The time for action is at hand, and the players have been set in place. Those who choose to make an attempt at diplomacy head off at the appointed time to meet with Valeria, the clerk and representative of the general who leads the Gigas army. Those who wish to take more direct action against Gigas leave with General Ironbrand to put their plans into motion. In the meantime, the refugees continue to stream into Union, while supplies are gathered and flow the other way.

The outcome of this war may very well depend on the combined results of these four efforts…

((This log will be a catch-all for all four efforts of the attempt to save Caldera. There will be four different parts of this post: Diplomacy, Aggression, Refugees, and Supplies. The first two should be well established, but the Refugees portion will encompass bringing those in Caldera who require help to Union and giving them medical aid and care, while the Supplies portion will encompass people in Union setting up shelters and gathering resources to send back to Caldera, as well as other miscellaneous tasks that may be of help. Gathering resources may entail leaving Union to explore out in other areas. You all signed up for groups, so please try to maintain these groups when posting, particularly to the Diplomacy and Aggression sections. The other two may be more free-form.

Mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the logs moving.

EDIT 5/31: Please try to group up if possible! We'll generally try to wait for threads to have 2-3 people before we jump in. Threads with 3+ may attract the attention of something a little more... interesting.))

Alright, that's a Fighting and an Electric type. If anyone has a Ground type, now's the time to bring him out!

[That's a good variety of Pokémon in reserve there, so she holds off listing them off in a litany. Rise continues standing back and Himiko stands her ground and focuses to try and hit the Gurdurr with a Confusion.]

[Ogami is inwardly cursing himself for leaving his Donphan at home]

Not on my end, but I have something that may work.

[His warp band flares open and his Machamp emerges, as does his Doublade. Machamp is wielding Doublade, with one sword in each of the top arms]

[ Ouch, a fighting type - a bad match-up for an Absol. Hotaru was hanging back regardless, but if it got past their fearless leader and the fearless leader's girlfriend (she was, wasn't she?) then Hotaru would be up a creek without a paddle.

Of course... she did have Celosia. As a ghost-type, she would be immune to a fighting-type.

She put that thought to the back of her mind - ready to call her out if needed, but not going to advertise that she was ready, either. She was the backup. Stay in the back. ]

[ The Gurdurr is hit with the confusion and stops in its place. However, the rest of the group proceeds forward, readying to strike whoever is closest with they're variety of weapons while the Raichu steps forward to send out some electric shocks.

And once the Gurdurr shakes off its confusion it'll join the rest of them in the formation as to not to break it. ]

1/2 Ogami Sakura

[Fearlessly, Machamp and Doublade move as one, Machamp swinging Doublade through the air to catch the electric shocks before bringing it down with a fearsome Karate Chop, Doublade using Night Slash if the electricity doesn't impede its movements.

Ogami on the other hand is going straight for the Gurdurr, his own twin swords shining with white psychic energy as he unleashes a whirling slash, explosions of psychic power coming out of each blade upon impact]

2/2 Ogami Sakura

[Takeshi the Kirlia appears in a flash from her warp band, and immediately both spring forward at breakneck speed--and an added Teleport from the psychic type pokemon for good measure.

Coming around the opposite side of the Gurdurr, both attack, Takeshi with Confusion, and Sakura with her blade. Drawing it quickly, she channels psychic energy into her sword before releasing it in an arc forward at the pokemon.]

[ Watching, there wasn't much for Hotaru to do, especially in the back. The best she could do was puff up, try to look menacing. She was an Absol, after all. Maybe a small one, but Absols were known to be fairly fearsome.

So against the enemies they were facing, she exerted her Pressure. It wasn't much, but it was all she could do. ]

[With the amount of damage already flying back and forth at the Gurdurr, Himiko focuses on healing whatever is most damaged - most likely Ogami's Doublade.]

[Rise, meanwhile, gives psychic instructions to Toyo.]

Toyo, get the refugees moving along while we hold these guys here. Call for me if you see any other Giga guys but if we hold them here, you should be able to get closer to the Warp point.

[Toyo Chanseys in the affirmative and begins ushering people along. Rise, meanwhile, keeps an eye out for any of the Gigas group ahead of them moving to intercept.]

[ Both the Raichu and Gurdurr go down and once they are returned to their balls the remaining for Pokemon (Rapidash, Reuniclus, Seviper, and Dodrio) are sent out. The Rapidash and Reuniclus attack Machamp and Doublade with Fire Spin and Psychic respectively. Dodrio aims a Tri-Attack at the Kirlia while Seviper slithers around to try and aim at Absol in the back with a Poison Fang at the ready.

Meanwhile the Gigas troops are close enough, now ready to swing their blades targeting whomever is in the front of the group. ]

[ Hotaru wasn't expecting a Seviper. Especially coming from a small ball thing - honestly, what were those?

She, unlike the others, wasn't a trained fighter. But she did practice, and she did have Pokémon instincts to guide her. So when Seviper struck out at her with Poison Fang, she moved. Darting to the side, she used her much smaller relative size to her advantage, trying to maneuver behind the other Pokémon. As she did, she called out Celosia, her Litwick, using her Warp Band.

Celosia, as expected, decided to appear on top of Hotaru's head. ]

Celosia! Confuse Ray! [ As her candle-like friend gave a mock salute and launched the attack, Hotaru finished trying to maneuver into place and lash out with a Bite. It was her most powerful non-lethal move, and she knew that a good Bite could make another Pokémon falter even when fighting and hyped up on adrenaline. Hopefully, between her attack and Celosia's, they could do something. ]

[Doublade leaps out of Machamp's hands, launching itself at and through the Psychic attack to Night Slash right on top of the Reuniclus. Machamp instead runs directly into the path of the Fire Spin, grasping at the Rapidash to catch it in a Submission attack.

Ogami, meanwhile, swings his own blades, parrying incoming attacks and returning them with twin waves of psychic energy, traveling across the ground almost like twin fangs of a demon or some other mighty beast]

Wow, these guys are all really fast...

[Rise stands back and lets the people who know how to fight handle it. Himiko tries to protect the group from blades and other physical attacks with Reflect, though she takes a nasty hit from the faster Dodrio's heads before the blue barrier finishes going up.]

Sakura! You and Ogami focus on that big snake! He's weak to your swords!

[ One of the soldiers could be seen sneering at the fact that the Absol called out a Litwick. And that soldier was the owner of the Seviper which happened to have been hit with the confuse ray follows by the bite. The Seviper lashed out, trying to use a poison tail on the two but nearly hits itself in confusion instead oops.

Meanwhile the Reuniclus gets hit head on by the Doublade. It still stands thanks to its defensive capabilities and brings up a Reflect. Meanwhile Rapidash could do nothing against the submission attack, getting thrown into the ground and struggles to get back up.

After the Dodrio was finished with Tri-Attack it attacks with Uproar, hoping to strike multiple of them at once. ]

All right! [ Adrenaline pumping, Hotaru was determined to finish this. The best time was now, while Seviper was confused and disoriented. Hotaru moved quickly, lashing out with a Quick Attack! And if that wasn't enough- ] Celosia, Fire Spin! [ -then being trapped in a vortex of fire should do the trick.

She, however, was too focused on Seviper to notice Dodrio, or anybody else for that matter. ]

Ack sorry almost forgot about this one

[Machamp again fans Doublade out to try to block the shockwave from the uproar.

The threat of the Dodrio, however, was more immediate and it was endangering one of Ogami's charges. Ogami leaps into action, gritting his teeth to tank both the Tri-Attack and any damage from the uproar to bring two psychic-charged blades down on the Dodrio with a leaping strike and a fierce battle cry]

[Takeshi likewise dives in front of Hotaru, soaking a bit of the damage that Ogami takes, even if just slightly. He'll answer that with a Confusion attack, the multicolored beam flying from its forehead at the three-headed flying type.]

[Himiko covers her ears...or whatever...and piles more damage onto that Dodrio with its own Confusion, attacking in harmony with her fellow Kirlia.]

[Rise, meanwhile, mostly just tries to get out of the way of the Uproar and estimate which of the opponent Pokémon are closest to being knocked out.]
