The Battle for Caldera

The time for action is at hand, and the players have been set in place. Those who choose to make an attempt at diplomacy head off at the appointed time to meet with Valeria, the clerk and representative of the general who leads the Gigas army. Those who wish to take more direct action against Gigas leave with General Ironbrand to put their plans into motion. In the meantime, the refugees continue to stream into Union, while supplies are gathered and flow the other way.

The outcome of this war may very well depend on the combined results of these four efforts…

((This log will be a catch-all for all four efforts of the attempt to save Caldera. There will be four different parts of this post: Diplomacy, Aggression, Refugees, and Supplies. The first two should be well established, but the Refugees portion will encompass bringing those in Caldera who require help to Union and giving them medical aid and care, while the Supplies portion will encompass people in Union setting up shelters and gathering resources to send back to Caldera, as well as other miscellaneous tasks that may be of help. Gathering resources may entail leaving Union to explore out in other areas. You all signed up for groups, so please try to maintain these groups when posting, particularly to the Diplomacy and Aggression sections. The other two may be more free-form.

Mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the logs moving.

EDIT 5/31: Please try to group up if possible! We'll generally try to wait for threads to have 2-3 people before we jump in. Threads with 3+ may attract the attention of something a little more... interesting.))

For Blue Rose's part? She didn't speak because that just wasn't part of her nature, but she did give all three of the Enlightened the most unimpressed face she can muster-- which on a Nidoran♀, can be pretty damn impressive.

Luckily, Nero was immune to any glares or stares from her (somewhat), and too wired to care about enemy numbers. He felt he could take on more of them on his own at any given time. Not to mention he didn't like the Pokéballs on their belts-- as a guy who turned into a Pokémon on a regular basis, that was just downright wrong. He'd heard of them from stories about the times of the War, so how'd these people get their paws on them?

"Like the Chimchar says, we'll be fine. After we're done with them, they're gonna need reinforcements." And to emphasize, he scratched his claws against the tree.

"So, we going in or what?" Nero got down on his belly and started crawling towards the humans, using the brush as cover.

The soldiers, for their part, are blissfully unaware of the possibly rabid shifters lying in wait for them.

Hhhhh, that IS a scary face. Rosa covers her face with her wings, cowering. She does NOT want to do this, not at all... Only 25... really?

Either way, it seemed like the answer was obvious enough. The ground rumbles and shakes as something a little ways into the forest unleashes an Earthquake, forming a large fissure in the path. A roar, and a blue oversized Tyrantrum crashes through the undergrowth, intent on ramming the cart and freeing it of its delicious contents.

The skarmory on it's back is holding on for dear life.

Who knew that all Eren had to say was "there's food in the carts" to get Napoleon going?

Well, he may as well help with it. Eren hops off of Napoleon back into the tree and uses Stealth Rock. Hunks of stone rise from the earth and surround the cart and its protectors. Between the rocks and the earthquake damage, the cart wasn't going anywhere fast.

The quake definitely disrupts the carts, wheels shatter and carts fall to their side as Napoleon hits. The soldiers, however, are a bit less shaken, several draw their rifles and open fire on Eren and Napoleon.

And with that opening? Nero took the opportunity to jump at them from the side. He latched onto the nearest head he could find and bit down on a rifle, teeth puncturing holes in it, and menaced others with his gigantic mouth. Meanwhile, Blue Rose got underfoot, stinging everyone she could with her horn in the hopes of poisoning a few of them.

As the soldiers aimed upwards, no less than five Wukongs descended from the trees. Three aimed to land on the shoulders of the soldiers and wrap their arms and legs around the poor humans' heads. One popped off to start detaching the ponytas from the wagons. The last landed nimbly on top of one soldier's head, from which he lashed out at two of his neighbors with a foot to the right and a fist to the left.

Which one the REAL Wukong was is an exercise left to the imagination, but the other four were simple clones that would vanish in a puff of smoke at any solid hit.

Success! With the carts overturned, Napoleon can get to work feasting on their delicious insides. He wolfs down supplies greedily. Most of the bullets glance off, or embed themselves in his rock-hard scales. However, one of the rifle bullets catches him in a patch of unarmored skin, and he lets out a roar of pain as red blood blossoms over blue skin. Napoleon whirls, hoping to catch a few of the soldiers with his tail in the process, and grabs one of them by the rifle, destroying it with a powerful Crunch.

Eren blocks the onslaught with his wings, the only real solid steel on his body that he could use that way. Time for some Agility to move away from the targets slightly.

"COVER YOUR EARS!" he yells out in Pokémon to his companions. Then? A horrible screeching Metal Sound, like nails on so many chalkboards.

The sudden, ferocious onslaught scatters the soldiers, with several of them doubling over from poison or from the harsh sound Eren is emitting. Several of the Ponyta jerk away and start running with their riders, but three of the mounted soldiers manage to maintain their compusre and hurl Pokeballs into the air, which open to reveal a Kadabra, Houndoom and Haunter.

"Heads up, these guys have got their own Pokémon out!" Nero shouted over the din in Pokémon once he'd gotten his fingers out of his ears and poked his head out from where he'd taken cover amongst the food and supplies.

He shamelessly stuffed his giant mouth with some of the meat as he shoved his way out of the cart, before looking down at the new Pokémon. He wasn't too tall as a Pokémon, but he had the advantage of looking tough and being on an elevated platform. "If you guys don't want 'em, I'm keeping them all to myself. But if you'd like to join in, I'm starting with that Houndoom."

Then he emphasized that statement by jumping down to the ground and kicking dirt in the overlarge dog's face with a Sand-Attack, then following up with a Sand Tomb. He had no plan whatsoever, but who the hell needed plans?

All three remaining Wukongs shouted "Don't hog ALL the fun!" in unison and jumped from the soldiers towards the haunter. Of course, the second law of motion meant their jumping pushed the confused mass of soldiers into even more confusion. One of the Wukongs got shot out of the air and vanished in a puff of smoke, but the last two came up on either side of the haunter and, as time seemed to stand still for just a moment, they both inhaled deeply and breathed twin cones of fire at the Pokemon!

Fun? Fun?! Were these guys for real? They weren't taking this seriously at all! Eren feels like he may have needed to pick his party a little more carefully. But then again, shifters weren't exactly everywhere; his choices were limited, especially when it came to recruiting for this admittedly crazy plan.

Napoleon is now busy with the cart and its contents, leaving the Kadabra to Eren. Well, and Rosa, who has finally decided to join the battle after cowering. She feels much more confident alongside Eren! She unleashes a Confuse Ray while Eren comes at the Kadabra, Steel Wings spread wide.

The Houndoom roars in anger as the sand attack obscures its vision, but then yelps in pain as the Sand Tomb hits it. It counters with a Flamethrower attack, but it's badly off its mark due to the sand.

Wukong's flame attack hits the Haunter, it hisses and counterattacks with a Night Shade attack. Wukong feels ghostly power constrict around him as it does marginal damage.

The Kadabra moves to attack, but the confuse ray throws it off its mark. The Steel Wings attack hits it hard, its frail body not weathering the storm effectively. That it hurts itself in its confusion is not helping either.

While screaming orders, the trainers continue firing on Napoleon, though it's not particularly effective they do want to protect the supplies.

Fist pump? Fist pump. Despite being glared at by Blue Rose who's hiding under the cart where the Tyrantrum is, Nero allows himself that gesture before throwing himself at the Houndoom, scrambling up to its back and holding onto its horns to steady himself.

Nero plays dirty, and loves doing so. And because his hands are full of Houndoom horns, he cant exactly use a move that needs them-- not that he has any. But he does have one move that only requires his mouth.

So he opens his mouth and readies a Dragon Rage aimed right at the head below him.

See? Fighting dirty.

The last Wukong-clone fell to the constricting attack, as did Wukong himself. He bounced back up quickly enough, though, and flung himself at the haunter to try and bite it on the head, as his arms are bound to his sides for the moment!

Success! With the Kadabra stunned and weak, Rosa feels confident enough to descend upon it, wrapping her huge wings around it and sinking her fangs into its throat for a ferocious Bite attack. While Rosa is doing her vampire thing, Eren rams into it with a powerful Iron Head attack. Two on one isn't really fair, but... neither is an ambush. As far as Eren was concerned, Gigas was playing dirty by attacking and sieging another city. They'd have to play dirty in kind!

Oh, those little bullets are very annoying. Napoleon turns to roar at the humans getting between him and his food. His tail begins to glow blue, engulfed in draconic flames, and he unleashes a powerful Dragon Tail attack to knock them away.

[Beams of red light recall the Haunter, Kadabra and Houndoom as they all faint under the onslaught. Meanwhile, several soldiers are sent flying by Napoleon's furious attack]

Pull back! Retreat!

[The soldiers scramble for safety, some helping those that are on the ground get up as they start fleeing before the might of the shifters]

Victory! Nero stands on top of one of the carts abandoned by the Gigas soldiers, whooping and yelling in Human, even miming two guns with his hands.

Though his actions could be more appropriately termed as taunts.

"Pew pew! That's what you get, assholes!"

Wukong is rolling on the ground laughing. Literally ROFLing. He eventually manages to work in "Bring me a REAL challenge next time!"

[You ruffians may have also garnered the attention of something else as well, watching from a safe distance. However, should they try to look for it, they'll find whatever was watching them had disappeared.]
