The Battle for Caldera

The time for action is at hand, and the players have been set in place. Those who choose to make an attempt at diplomacy head off at the appointed time to meet with Valeria, the clerk and representative of the general who leads the Gigas army. Those who wish to take more direct action against Gigas leave with General Ironbrand to put their plans into motion. In the meantime, the refugees continue to stream into Union, while supplies are gathered and flow the other way.

The outcome of this war may very well depend on the combined results of these four efforts…

((This log will be a catch-all for all four efforts of the attempt to save Caldera. There will be four different parts of this post: Diplomacy, Aggression, Refugees, and Supplies. The first two should be well established, but the Refugees portion will encompass bringing those in Caldera who require help to Union and giving them medical aid and care, while the Supplies portion will encompass people in Union setting up shelters and gathering resources to send back to Caldera, as well as other miscellaneous tasks that may be of help. Gathering resources may entail leaving Union to explore out in other areas. You all signed up for groups, so please try to maintain these groups when posting, particularly to the Diplomacy and Aggression sections. The other two may be more free-form.

Mods will be responding at least once every 24 hours to keep the logs moving.

EDIT 5/31: Please try to group up if possible! We'll generally try to wait for threads to have 2-3 people before we jump in. Threads with 3+ may attract the attention of something a little more... interesting.))

Gratuitous amounts of smoke are helpful! ...But it might also prevent the fliers from actually seeing their targets very well, too. They'll be able to hear them, though - the caravans are taking advantage of this to rumble on.]

[ Hilda nods in agreement to everyone again. Really, she'll go wherever, as long as the others are leading the way. When Aster speaks to her, she looks over at him and offers him a small, sheepish smile. ]

[ Her voice is quiet as well. Sam looks up at the two of them, but keeps quiet. He could understand why Hilda was being so quiet. She's pretty out of her element, around all of these brainy people. ]

[Yikes! Lea is quick on the draw, and dodges the butt of the rifle; just barely. Instead of catching his head, it catches his shoulder, and he lets out a yelp of pain.

Then, it's all over. Robin panics, the illusion fails, and he makes a beeline for the roof of the building, scrambling up it using sharp claws. Coward.]

Ahaha... Well. Uh. Hi.

[this wasn't happening this wasn't happening this was not happening. Instinctively, Lea moves in front of Roxas and whispers harshly] Get out of here, Roxas. Run!

Fun? Fun?! Were these guys for real? They weren't taking this seriously at all! Eren feels like he may have needed to pick his party a little more carefully. But then again, shifters weren't exactly everywhere; his choices were limited, especially when it came to recruiting for this admittedly crazy plan.

Napoleon is now busy with the cart and its contents, leaving the Kadabra to Eren. Well, and Rosa, who has finally decided to join the battle after cowering. She feels much more confident alongside Eren! She unleashes a Confuse Ray while Eren comes at the Kadabra, Steel Wings spread wide.

[Asemu had already thought of this. That's why he's not trying to shoot the wagons right now. Instead, he's shooting up the road ahead of them, hoping to make it impassable or, at least, making it rough enough for the wagons to have to slow down.]

[ Golem and Donphan collide, and once the collision happened the Golem was open to the Magical Leaf. That was enough for the Golem as the trainer returned it with a small 'tsk'.

With the mix between the confusions, Round, and Barrage the remaining soldiers had little time to retreat or commence their attack. They will fall once the Razor Wind hits, having only brought out their weapons and not their Pokemon yet. However, it isn't over yet as three reinforcements come. It's not much, but all three are packed not with swords but with guns and three new Pokemon at their side: Bisharp, Gengar, and Houndoom.

After seeing the damage the Gengar is told to us its own Hypnosis on the group, while Houndoom launches a Flamethower and Bisharp stands in a defense position. All while their trainers being to shoot. ]

[ ...Well, that was that. Bodes well for whatever's on that TM and in those scrolls.

Haruka surveys their offerings one last time, thinking things over; then, turning on her heel, she snorts and makes her way to the bridge. They're done here. ]

[Well, it's certainly good that there's a plan in place, but Hilda's admission brings him to the conclusion that no, he really can't think of anything else they can gather that might be useful to Caldera.]

...I believe I have run out of contributions to the current conversation as well.

[Oh look, there are the city gates. He... might have picked up his pace a little in some vague hope that getting out of Union will somehow provide a topic of conversation he knows more about. Help, how does he speak to non-scientists to make them feel included in the group?]

The Houndoom roars in anger as the sand attack obscures its vision, but then yelps in pain as the Sand Tomb hits it. It counters with a Flamethrower attack, but it's badly off its mark due to the sand.

Wukong's flame attack hits the Haunter, it hisses and counterattacks with a Night Shade attack. Wukong feels ghostly power constrict around him as it does marginal damage.

The Kadabra moves to attack, but the confuse ray throws it off its mark. The Steel Wings attack hits it hard, its frail body not weathering the storm effectively. That it hurts itself in its confusion is not helping either.

While screaming orders, the trainers continue firing on Napoleon, though it's not particularly effective they do want to protect the supplies.

[Reimu still does her best to dodge and hit her opponents of course. What she lacks in experience, she makes up for in talent and sheer fire power and the Air Slashes that do hit don't do much since she's part Flying herself anyway.

When some of them split off to attack the ground forces, she decides to let the others handle it and hits the others with an Evil Sealing Circle.]

Fist pump? Fist pump. Despite being glared at by Blue Rose who's hiding under the cart where the Tyrantrum is, Nero allows himself that gesture before throwing himself at the Houndoom, scrambling up to its back and holding onto its horns to steady himself.

Nero plays dirty, and loves doing so. And because his hands are full of Houndoom horns, he cant exactly use a move that needs them-- not that he has any. But he does have one move that only requires his mouth.

So he opens his mouth and readies a Dragon Rage aimed right at the head below him.

See? Fighting dirty.

[Robin directs his Glaceon and Espeon to counterattack with ice and psychic energy in the interim, trying to take out the Manectrics before they knock them out of the sky]

[It takes lightning fast reflexes for Cordelia to redirect their flight path away from the lightning bolts flying at them--if any of them were to hit Swanna, they would be falling from the sky, easily. This is her primary focus right now, grateful that her passenger was at least on top of their offensive as she did her best to steer clear of any other electric-based attacks.]

Morgiana perked up slightly midconversation with a guard. She muttered "Excuse me." and wandered over to the alley to investigate the chirping. Anyone who would say wandering down dark alleys is dangerous for young girls CLEARLY doesn't know Morgiana very well.

The last Wukong-clone fell to the constricting attack, as did Wukong himself. He bounced back up quickly enough, though, and flung himself at the haunter to try and bite it on the head, as his arms are bound to his sides for the moment!

[Using her Warp Band, she calls Drowny out here for some Water Gun action, shooting it into the Lotad's leaf to use as a bowl.]

[The rest of Jinxie's Pokemon have been semi-safely recalled by this point, and she'll work on getting them the care they need soon. For now, however, she's going to watch Siege Engine Rotom doing its work from her safe vantage point. And go to work it does, flinging and shooting every bit of heavy ordnance it can at the Gigas enemy line. It will be targeting the other engines in the area first, but also trying to disrupt the troop movements as much as possible.]

[Meanwhile, Chie and her Herdier are busily tracking down the girl's scent. Possibly she'll end up at or near the same place?]

[ That is a very good, and very big question. It could be added to 'how do I talk to non-scientists in general', which is Duke's thoughts. Nevermind that he's managed it before. ]

Success! With the Kadabra stunned and weak, Rosa feels confident enough to descend upon it, wrapping her huge wings around it and sinking her fangs into its throat for a ferocious Bite attack. While Rosa is doing her vampire thing, Eren rams into it with a powerful Iron Head attack. Two on one isn't really fair, but... neither is an ambush. As far as Eren was concerned, Gigas was playing dirty by attacking and sieging another city. They'd have to play dirty in kind!



Oh, those little bullets are very annoying. Napoleon turns to roar at the humans getting between him and his food. His tail begins to glow blue, engulfed in draconic flames, and he unleashes a powerful Dragon Tail attack to knock them away.

[ It's a good thing that Roxas is still pretty much a doormat. He nods when Lea tells him to run and does so with Sora and Keeper. Gotta move fast before he's caught. ]

[ Both the Raichu and Gurdurr go down and once they are returned to their balls the remaining for Pokemon (Rapidash, Reuniclus, Seviper, and Dodrio) are sent out. The Rapidash and Reuniclus attack Machamp and Doublade with Fire Spin and Psychic respectively. Dodrio aims a Tri-Attack at the Kirlia while Seviper slithers around to try and aim at Absol in the back with a Poison Fang at the ready.

Meanwhile the Gigas troops are close enough, now ready to swing their blades targeting whomever is in the front of the group. ]
