Event: The Thawing

As discussions branch and mount in Union about how to handle Gigas's diplomatic overtures, news of a more pleasant variety reaches the city from Glacier. Although still rebuilding from their own city's far more disastrous dragon attack, the people have banded together to host "The Thawing", their annual celebration of the coming of spring. In appreciation of all Union has done for them, all citizens of that city are invited - encouraged, even - to attend. Glacier has its own pride, after all. It would like to show its new allies what it looks like at its best.

Just...don't expect to go without a sweater or a jacket. The city may be "thawing", but that doesn't mean it's warm.

If it is any consolation, it doesn't appeal to me to try either.

[ Sophia's tone is faintly teasing from within the thickly padded coat and hood, her grass typing making this extra warmth necessary even for a festival called the Thawing. Her new Dewgong friend is a little more reassuring, humming happily at the ice. ]

[Because, seriously, why would you just shove these skates at someone who was very obviously the complete opposite of athletic? Waver sighed, tired of this cold, but he bobbed his head in the direction of the little Amaura frolicking in the snow and ice on the far side of the lake.]

At least she's enjoying herself. She hasn't been terribly fond of Union since the weather changed...but, she's from up here. Not liking the heat only makes sense.

I can see how it could be useful to someone who lives out here, but even Union didn't have so much ice for this to be useful.

[It IS elegant, when an expert skater glides by. But no. Just, no.

Turning to follow Waver's line of sight, she can't help but smile.]

She does look very happy. Does the Union habitat not suit her very well now that the winter is over? [not. that. it feels like it here.]

Amauras have a way of dropping the temperature around them, [Waver explained quietly, a little pleased with talking about a pokemon that he had taken part in discovering for Union's records.] Khione's just too polite to disturb the local climate like that. It's very considerate of her, but I now she gets bored in the Habitat.

She's like us, and seems to have a lot of questions about everything.

Really? I know my Cherrim friend can make a day sunnier, but I hadn't considered that there might be a way to reduce the surrounding temperatures for other pokémon.

[What a useful spell that could be, depending on the circumstance. Hmm..]

The Habitat is a marvel, but, yes, I can imagine anyone would want to be able to see more sights rather than be cooped up. What else do you know about Amauras?

That they eventually evolve into that, [he said, gesturing toward the enormoous Aurorus that was keeping the pond frosted over. The stately pokemon was huge-- far too big to be able to fit inside a standard residence or business.]

...I hope she takes her time evolving-- I know she'll be disappointed if she has a hard time fitting through doors, because she likes to get around.

[ Her gaze follows across as Waver gestures, and Sophia's eyes widen considerably as she takes in the greater size of the Aurorus. It's a beautiful behemoth, and her nod of agreement is slow and steady as she takes what Waver has to say. ]

If she's as intelligent and curious as you say, then I've no doubt that she'll take her time. Unless she's usually the sort to rush into things?

No-- that's Bucephalus, [Waver murmured, mulling over this idea.] He's the impulsive one who might sart trouble.

Well, he does like rushing about, that's true. [as they'd both seen at the beach] I'm sure she'll only evolve when she's good and ready to, then.

I think you might be right... most of mine don't seem to want to evolve. There's not really been a reason.

And I think some of them just don't want to get too big to enter the house.
