Good news guys. I was out doing some training to get ready for the caverns tomorrow. I bonded with a Cascoon a few days ago, and she just evolved into a Dustox! Prickly's definitely moving up in the world!

[For those who are around when Ezreal makes this post, as he mentions Prickly she huffs and launches a poisoned spine at him, that he casually and habitually moves his head to the left to dodge]

Well, it's interesting. I've never had a chance to really explore outside the city before.

[he sighs a bit dramatically]

We delvers have traditionally stuck to the underground. Honestly this iron shortage may be a boon, I've always wanted to explore beyond the city borders and now we might get more opportunities.

I know that feeling to a degree. Wanting desperately to explore the world outside of Union.

If the council's finally willing to stop hiding behind the walls we may finally have that opportunity.

We are a long way from that becoming a possibility, I'm afraid. More families are welcome to the idea, as long as it directly benefits them. However, they are less likely to sponsor such expeditions due to money constraints, as well as the constant threat of a loss of resources due to the dangers outside of Union. There are more proponents against expansion outward than for.

So basically as usual they have their heads up their asses and are completely disconnected from the reality that you can't squeeze the Old City for five centuries and still expect it to yield enough resources to support the whole city.

The university and the rangers have so graciously stepped up and provided assistance for those wishing to explore while still staying within the confines of the world that we know.

Despite what you may thing, it is a step in the right direction. These things take time.

Which is why we all have to go out in the dead of winter to find a mine immediately despite having been reporting the increasing iron scarcity for years.

Sometimes it takes dire circumstances to make people listen, unfortunately.

Ignoring warnings for years isn't acceptable caution, it's just stupidity.

You'd be surprised. And even in spite of that, do you think the city can survive without iron for two years?

Certainly not, but the council understand that this is a dire situation, and they will act as quickly as they are able.

Sorry but I call bullshit. That's never happened. We tell them there's a problem and they never act until it starts inconveniencing them.
