Dancing Through Life [OPEN]
Who: Feliks, and whoever shows up. Mingle log, everyone's invited!
Where: The old Łukasiewicz manor
When: In the evening, on the day after spring's sudden onset.
Warning: Alcohol will be available? Otherwise, depends on the players--stick a warning in the subject line if anything gets out of hand.
The rumors and casual invitations started a long while ago, in the wake of Team Evolution's departure, but it took a while to nail down a date, and to shine up the rarely used public areas on the lower floor of the Łukasiewicz family estate, two floors on top of one of the towers towards the outskirts of the residential district. Paper invitations came several days ago, to damn near everyone with an address (though of course, the nobles' are on finer paper, hand-written by Feliks's grandparents and properly sealed.) Though everyone is invited, the general public has also been reminded to dress well and behave themselves presentably--it isn't every day you're invited into a noble house, is it?
Even for the nobles, honestly, it's rare to see this one. The heads of the family are aged, and while they often appear and are pleasant enough at everyone else's events, they have little energy for arranging their own in general.
They seem to have gone all out on this one, though, perhaps because the first ball of the spring demands it and perhaps because they're celebrating so many things at once. First there was Feliks's performance in the tournament, then his evolution, and of course they're still looking to find him a nice match. And spring, quite suddenly, is in the air, the weather pleasantly warm and the balcony gardens overflowing with blossoming flowers--a small legion of gardeners has been brought in to keep the plants under control, actually, given their overabundance lately.
The food and drinks are fantastic, varied, and plentiful, laid out at strategic points around the wide, gleaming dance floor. The best musicians from all over the city have been hired to encourage people to make use of it, and to keep the atmosphere nice and light.
So come on in--talk, dance, eat all the little berry pastry things, and welcome the spring!
[OOC: Will put up a couple of threads for different areas of the party to keep it organized, feel free to mingle and tag around with everyone!]

Jade waits patiently through the evening. Getting distracted at a function like this is all too easy, and he'd rather approach Feliks in a quieter, more personal setting. He sees his chance when Feliks slips away from the ballroom. After making his excuses to his current partner, Jade follows, arriving at the balcony a few minutes after Feliks does.
"Master Łukasiewicz," he says, the syllables rolling easily off his tongue, "I hope I'm not disturbing you."
no subject
Honestly, at this point in the night, Feliks is a little tempted to say you kinda are and see if that wins him some privacy, but his grandparents would probably skin him alive. That, and the sight of Jade's uniform warms him a little to the man--he's always had a soft spot for the Rangers, even dreamed of joining them when he was a child (before it became clear that he could go outside the walls without having to listen to orders). It makes it easier to put on something like the gracious smile he knows he should be offering.
"Not too much, I guess!" He drapes the Dratini around his neck like a very affectionate little stole, standing up to peer out over the evening lights of the city. "So what's--" No, no, too casual, he could all but feel Jadwiga's urge to bury her face in her palms at him. "Can I, like, help you with anything?"
no subject
Well then, he'll keep this short.
"I was simply hoping for an opportunity to speak with you." He says. "I had been observing your progress during the tournament. I was quite impressed."
And while it is partly flattery, it is also the truth; for someone so inexperienced, he had been a surprisingly powerful force in the fights.
no subject
But as embarrassing as the whole party thing is, it's still a little bit thrilling for him to actually hear someone-- someone important, at that, someone in a position of authority-- actually complimenting him for once. He finds himself relaxing a little more into his own smile, giving off a faint shimmer.
"You and half of Union were 'observing', right?" It had been, well, rather a spectacle. Jadwiga sort of pokes him in the mind a little, which he assumes means he should say something more. "But, um--thanks a lot! We've gotten a lot stronger since then, too."
In no small part because losing to Rory shook him up so hard, but also thanks to his lingering excitement at getting to explore outside the walls.
no subject
"Strong enough to beat Rory?"
It's mostly a rhetorical question. They've all seen the power of his Blaziken. Jade doubts any trainers currently in the Union could hope to beat it alone, even if they sent their full team against it.
no subject
"I'm not gonna let him beat us again."
Which is skirting the fact that he knows, if they were to show up today, he absolutely would.
no subject
"That doesn't answer my question now, does it?" He asks, his tone still light.
no subject
"We're gonna keep getting better." He can say that, at least, with conviction. "Strong enough to beat him!"
no subject
"That's quite an admirable goal," he remarks, still smiling, light and teasing. "If only my recruits are as dedicated."
Which isn't entirely fair to the recruits. He knows most of them have been working hard; otherwise they would have already been asked to leave. But there's a limit to what hard work can do.
no subject
Like concern! Which is why he grins like he's telling some big joke when he replies, "He was pretty crazy strong! The recruits might have to kinda step up their game."
The whole of Union will have to, but Feliks doesn't much like letting on that he's bothered.
