1st Star [Video]
[After visiting the council and seeking permission to stay in Union City, Renko was more than pleased with their answer. They'd even given her one of those Warp Band devices she'd seen most people around the city wear. Needless to say, she looks thrilled once she gets it all figured out and starts recording.]
Hey, this thing isn't as hard to figure out as I thought it would be! That's great!
So it's pretty obvious that I'm not from around here. That aside, my name's Renko Usami, and I've decided to stay here! It's quite a bit different than what I'm used to in most ways.
[She pauses for a moment, debating what to say next, all the while counting the seconds away in her head. She needed to make a good impression on these people. She hoped she was doing a good job.]
I'd really like to learn more about all of you. Your stories, culture, technology, any of it, really. Is there a library I can check out? Other than that, any advice at all would be appreciated, especially with exploring some of the areas outside the city. It didn't seem so bad on the way here, but I was in a group then. I'm guessing going solo would be a very different experience.
Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you for allowing me to stay in your city.

[ Yeah, he's about to get suuuper suspicious. ]
...So what, did you quit? You're not some kind of spy, are you?
[ No one would say yes to that, Jean. ]
video;
[Well, that's a question that's loaded as any. Even if she were a spy, she obviously wouldn't say so.]
Not formally. No, I left them. This place seemed to have too many opportunities for me to learn, and I really didn't want to give it up.
video;
[ Jean's brutally honest, it's just his way. ]
So they just let you stay? Gave you a warp band and that's it? Can you even bond with pokemon?
[ Wow, rude. ]
video;
[Renko really doesn't mind. She'd rather he be honest than not.]
The council has given me permission to stay, yes. As for bonding, I'm very interested in exactly how these devices work. I mean, I have an idea of the basic technology and sciences required, but if you happen to know someone who makes them or fully understands them, I would really love to speak with them. Honestly, being able to communicate with Pokémon on a level like this is brilliant!
I think I've managed to successfully attune my own Pokémon companions though, if that is what you meant.

[ He's more of a take it or leave it kind of guy. ]
I mean, it must've been weird, not bein' able to feel your pokemon's feelings before. They didn't like, freak out anything, did they?
video;
I guess, but is it really that weird if not being able to feel them was normal for your entire life before this? They didn't seem to mind all that much. It was certainly an interesting first experience when I used it with them!
video;
It'd be weird either way, if you ask me. I mean it just helps, right? I can't understand what pokemon are saying otherwise, so.
video;
I suppose, but there are of course, those who would just as well not like to understand them. I for one, think it's incredible.

video;
I like being able to communicate with them, personally.

[ Jean, please. ]

[ Way to go, Jean. ]
Then, yeah, That.

video;
It's not like a ton of people do that or anything, but I used to be with them and it could be a pain, especially with people not wanting to listen when the earthquakes hit.
video;
You've had problems with people not listening to your warnings?
video;
I mean, not everyone abd I can get where they were coming from, but it made my job a huge pain in the ass.
video;
I've always found it best to at least listen to warnings. Even if they were to prove false for one reason or another, there is generally truth or genuine concern behind them.
video;
I mean, we're lucky there weren't many people injured during the earthquakes, but the evacuation could've gone a lot smoother if people didn't all think they could save the world.
video;
Very lucky, I'd say. Have you tried stricter measures?
