Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)

Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. [Mei shrugs her shoulders]

I've been here a month. I just...haven't left the lab much. Once the members of my unit found out what was really going on, we went our separate ways.

[blastruler]

And yours led here. [ She can't really comment, though, seeing as there's a Noibat a few jars down perched next to a picture of Veronica and snickering. ]

Look for this uniform if anyone gives you trouble. [ She taps the insignia noting her rank, but the whole outfit's standard issue. ] We keep the peace.

[snowboots]

It did. I thought it might be a good, central place. Quiet, and away from any lingering trouble with Imperial sympathizers.

What about you? You do not have a Union accent. Where are you from?

[blastruler]

Glacier, originally. [ Though she would hardly call Union "quiet" in the short span of time she's been here. ] It was a goodwill transfer.

[ They'll leave the part where she couldn't perform her duty probably in Glacier out of this. Far, far out of this. As far out of this as possible. ]

[snowboots]

Well, it sounds like a good move. Union is so wonderful, like a big melting pot!

[People from all over, even!]

When was your transfer? And was it just an exchange of the guard, as it were?

[blastruler]

I've been here a few months. [ Now that she's talking about work, Veronica crosses her arms behind her back and stands up even straighter, if that's possible. It's a squad leader thing. ] Technically, I suppose you could consider me a delegate. A political gesture to indicate our cities' cooperation.

[snowboots]

Ah! Well! I'm sure you're doing great work.

[She doesn't really know what that might be, but being encouraging and upbeat is just her way.]

I will certainly let the Swords of the Savior know if I have any problems. But I haven't yet. At least, not any meaningful ones.

[blastruler]

That's what we like to hear.

[ Nemesis the Noibat hops onto Veronica's shoulder. Speak for yourself. That sounds boooring. ] Nooooooiiii.

[snowboots]

And who's this?

[Mei peeks at the Pokemon, quite happy to see a new species.]

[blastruler]

Noi noi. [ Now that she's the center of attention, Nemesis preens.

Veronica is less impressed than Mei. ] A souvenir from the Archipelago.

Noi!

[ Veronica and Nemesis share a sardonic look. Both of them know Nemesis deserved that. ]

[snowboots]

[Ah...one of those.]

Well, perhaps one day I'll make it there, myself. But that seems a little...tropical...for me. I'm worried I may melt.

[blastruler]

Could be. [ The temperature surrounding them shifts. It begins to drop, actually. ]

[snowboots]

[Don't think she didn't notice that.]

Oh! Are you an Ice-type too?

[blastruler]

Not quite.

[ She holds the temperature at a cold enough level to hopefully make things more comfortable for someone in a parka, but not cold enough for that cloud forming overhead to pose a threat. Veronica holds a hand up to catch the single hailstone that falls, though. ] It's a type of Frostborn. What Union calls Enlightened.

[ The ice melts rather quickly in her hand. ] Makes the winters manageable.

[snowboots]

[Mei looks up at the cloud and smiles happily.]

Oh! You can control the weather then? That's...probably really useful in Glacier, yes. I can see that.

[She already has a pen out, taking some notes.]

Can you create other kinds of weather phenomenon? And are they all so localized?

[blastruler]

Are you a scholar?

[ Sudden note-taking, you see. She doesn't mind, she's just not used to this much interest. (The fire was always a bigger deal back in Glacier, but she knew coming to Union it wouldn't be as rare here.)

Another hailstone falls. Nemesis intercepts it, batting it (hah) aside. ]

[snowboots]

Scientist. A Climatologist to be exact.

[Absently, she reaches out and catches a hailstone, studying it with her free hand before giving it a quick lick.]

I study weather patterns and climate change.

[blastruler]

[ ....yes, you'd like Glacier.

Veronica eases up on the temperature enough to hopefully prevent either of them from being bopped on the head with hail. ] We're called "Children of the Ever-Changing Skies." In my experience, everyone so blessed can generate two types of weather.

The radius... [ A pause, remembering things back home. ] Varies.

[snowboots]

Oh? How so?

[That's got her interest.]

Are some able to vary the radius beyond their own personal space?

[blastruler]

Experience widens it. [ But never beyond the confines of the battle animation the opponent, should there be one. ] I suggest a trip north if you're curious.

[ This isn't exactly somewhere she can demonstrate - not being the demonstrative type anyway, despite her attempt to make the other woman more physically comfortable - and besides, there's more people to observe. ]

[snowboots]

Yes! I think that will be an interesting adventure.

[Mei is positively bursting with excitement.]

Soon. I'll have to figure out this...ah...date business first though.

That seems wise. [ Veronica lets her gaze wander down the tables. She tries not to let in linger on her own jar, where Nemesis the Noibat has decided to perch again. ]

[A sigh.]
