Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. [ At which point an Anorith also tips up to the conversation, moving on it's claws and chittering at Mei. Obviously looking for a sucker who will feed it. ]

[Mei's hands ball up and she peers down at Anorith, happily smiling at it.]

Oh! It's so cute!

[A face only a weirdo could love.]

Does it have a name? And your Riolu, too?

This one is Hongo. [ He gestures towards the Anorith, who chitters at him. He sighs, and hands it a cracker. The cracker is in fact also covered with pepper. He has come prepared for the predilections of his companion, it would appear. ]

And this one is known as Jotaro. [ The Riolu poses and points at Mei, looking very fierce. ]

Oh! Well it's nice to meet them.

[Mei bounces on the balls of her feet, head bobbing up and down a few times.]

My name is Mei. And this little troublemaker is Snowball. Who are you, sir?

I am Garviel Loken, of the Steel battalion. It is a pleasure to meet you, miss Mei. Unless you are a Mrs, in which case, forgive my mistaking your status.

[ He is utterly still as he speaks, like a mobile wall that has come to rest in the midst of the Theater. ]

Oh! You're in the Steel Battalion!

[Mei's smile doesn't waver even a little bit. She laughs lightly at his comment.]

You're not mistaken, Mister Garviel. I'm not married. I didn't have a lot of free time before coming to Union. Honestly, I still don't...but that's neither here nor there I guess.

Anyway! I am sorry for bumping into you.

There is nothing to apologize for. I am a large person, I am somewhat used to this.

Would it be an imposition to inquire as to what you do? [ He envies people who are busy. Since the war is over, there's much less for a soldier to do. ]

Oh no, not at all. I'm a climatologist, and I also study cryogenics, but that's more of a hobby!

Ah, interesting. Do pokemon affect the climate with their abilities, or is their power more localized. I have always wondered.

They can, but the weather itself is independent of Pokemon. That's more what I'm interested in. Pokemon are fascinating, but they're only one piece of the environment.

So, it's like a puzzle, but only a bit of it. What are the other factors that you have to take into account?

Oh, you know. Latitude, phases of the moon, seasons, wind speed, abundance of nearby water. There are a lot of factors that go into determining our weather patterns.

Interesting. You must have quite a bit of work to do. What is your research specialization at present?

Well. At the moment it's setting up my lab. It's a lot of work, and I've only recently arrived from Gigas. Once that's done, I'll be studying rainfall and other forms of precipitation in the high mountains to the east. It will be good to climb again, I think.

[ There is a distinct pause, then Loken continues. ]

Gigas. I see. [ He moves past that, almost tentatively. ]

Mountain climbing is difficult, but I'm sure you're prepared if you have done it before. Will your companion assist you in belaying?

[ He gestures towards the vanillite. ]

[Mei doesn't seem to even notice. She did but why call attention to it?]

Of course he will. He's always come with me into the mountains. It's a bit like going home. For...ah...both of us.

[She pats her midsection, and the heavy coat.]

Really though, I'm not worried. Ice and I get along very well.

That is good. I tend to prefer caves and heat, myself. [ He looks at her coat and says. ]

You're not too warm in that?

No? Not even a bit.

[She peels off a glove and holds a hand in his general direction. And waves and waves of cold just come pouring off it.]

See?

Impressive. [ he bobs his head slightly, and asks. ]

Ah... is that some sort of enlightened ability?

Not...quite. I'm an Enhanced. I had an accident, and it changed me a bit. Now I'm an Ice-typed person.

[She doesn't seem bothered by this at all!]

Oh I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pried. [ Garviel seems more upset than she is, really ]

Oh, don't be. That was years ago. It's perfectly alright. What about you, though? Are you a...Earthkin?

[ Loken draws himself entirely upright and he says stiffly, and rather formally. ]

It is my honor to be a child of unyielding Steel, a true son of Caldera.

[ Nevermind that he still doesn't know who his parents were. ]

That is very...formal sounding.

[She doesn't know a lot about Caldera. She's never been.]

You must be a decorated soldier!

I am but a humble servant of Caldera and lately the union, and a line soldier. I would pretend to be nothing more than that. It would be dishonorable to misrepresent myself in such a manner.
