Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)

Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. [ ....please don't assume things her Nidoking does came from her orders.

Haruka shrugs, looking out over the attendees. Sweet of the kid to be looking after them - especially since right now she's just a tenant, not a full member. ] It's popular.

[ramblingly]

[She doesn't know who gave the order; she just knows that Haruka seems to be the one in charge for the most part. There were times when she wasn't entirely certain about that, but her theory seemed to hold true most of the time and she planned to stick with it until told otherwise.]

It is, [she agreed, looking around briefly to find a spare chair before dragging one over from an adjacent table to sit down as well.] That's a good thing, isn't it? Word is that the theater's been through a rough patch with everything in the last year.

[Stories of the great white dragon had made it even to the caverns of Refuge and, while Pidge didn't know the full story, she was sure that she had a general understanding of the situation from what she had gathered over the last several weeks and months.]

You're collecting rumors now?

[ Haruka doesn't seem bothered by that. Amused, maybe. If there's a slight tension to her shoulders, she catches it and relaxes. They're good. They cover their tracks. There's no way their guests would have caught onto their true objectives.

So she nods, taking in all the restored construction work. ] It's been a long few months.

[ramblingly]

It was the only way I got the news out in Refuge.

[She shrugged. It was simple enough-- and she didn't intentionally go and dig up dirt on people. If a tidbit of information came her way, she simply held onto it in case she needed it later.]

The work that's completed looks great. I don't know what it looked like before, but it honestly doesn't look like anything even happened.

[ Haruka nods. ] The restoration's accurate. The last touches will be up towards the top.

[ She tips her chin towards the roof, where the theater patiently awaits the restoration of a mural of Pokémon representing Tragedy and Comedy. ] Was there theater in Refuge?

[ramblingly]

Yeah-- but nothing as elaborate as this, [Pidge said, somewhat surprised by this turn. She didn't expect too many people to be asking after her own experiences.]

Most of the costumes and decorations were simple-- the sort that leaves more up to the imagination rather than directly expressing what's intended. A twig sticking upright in a pot could represent a forest, for example. The stories were also simple, but fairly funny and usually with some kind of lesson at the end.]

[The culture of the cavernous city was a drastic change from what she knew of life in Gigas, but in some ways the mellower culture was refreshing. The silly little plays and other traditions often left the audience with something to think about at the end, and Pidge appreciated that.]

[ If they're talking about Refuge, they aren't talking about this Theater. Haruka is a clever and cunning leader of a secret god-punching organization with uniforms, because that makes so much sense. ] I'd like to see that.

[ From the smile on her face, she might actually mean it. Evocative, huh? That sounds more relaxing than the opulent displays they put on here. ]

['Relaxing' was everything that Refuge strived to be in everything that it did, from it's beer brewing strategies to it's theater to it's oddly zen demeanor regarding any of the complexities of the world. Though she was a busy little Pidge(y), even she found Refuge to be a nice change of pace after the frenetic lifestyle of Gigas.]

Maybe we could arrange a field trip and go see one some day? [She suggested, grinning.] It might be fun for everyone.

[ She says that like she and Keith are planning to stick around, but pointing out that sort of thing is Michiru's job, not Haruka's. It's cute, though, so Haruka laughs. ] We'll see.

[ Maybe she means that they're busy right now. Or maybe she means that the world could end any day now.

One never knows, with Haruka. ]
