Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)

Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. Yuuna was more than happy to place a ticket in Ami's jar. She had a plan and hoped she'd win.

She was going to kill Yuuna for doing this to her. How could Yuuna sign her up like this! It wasn't like anyone was going to try for her in any case but that was besides the point. Ami sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

But she wasn't going to back out when it was possible for the theater to get more help. She was sure by the end of the day she'd just leave and then give Yuuna a piece of her mind about signing her up when she had so much to do at the hospital. The bluenette let out another sigh and patted her Luxray's mane.

"I suppose it's going to be a long wait," she couldn't possibly see what anyone would want from her other than maybe tutoring. "Good thing you can't be raffled off, everyone would want you, hm?" she softly cooed to her Luxray, ever the doting trainer to her very first pokemon.

"Not really. Someone's going to snap you up quickly," came an amused voice from behind her. Yuuna, joined by a surly looking Greninja meandered up, hands shoved in her pockets.

"Having fun, dear?"

"To do their homework, perhaps," she sighed, only to promptly put her hands on her hips. "How could you sign me up for this! I have meetings and lectures to give, Yuuna! I don't have time for something like this! And you didn't even ask me!" She pointed a finger at Yuuna.

"And I am engaged, I shall remind you, in a wedding YOU are a part of!"

Yuuna grinned, put her hands behind her head, and waited for the little tirade to end. It was actually kind of adorable, in a way. She'd only done it to get this reaction, after all.

"You do have time for it, or you wouldn't be here. This isn't a mandatory thing, you know. So don't feed me that line about being too busy. And you are engaged, but does that mean you can't have a nice afternoon with someone else? I know you, you're not going to cheat. So does your partner."

Really, her plan had been to turn this into a mandatory vacation for Ami for an afternoon.

"I am here because this is for a good cause, I am helping save a friend who also got involved in this, and I'm always one to support the arts," it was also a tax right-off, but Ami was more involved for the good cause aspect.

"And that would require someone even wanting a nice afternoon with me," outside of Rei and the occasional love letter from anonymous, Ami never had anyone interested in her in such a way. Not that she cared, Rei was all she needed and wanted. She pressed her lips together.

"I'm not going to cheat, not with my partner, and not with school work."

"Ami," Yuuna said rather sternly, all pretense of joking around dropped for the moment. This was serious, and she meant every word.

"You know I did this with the best intentions. You need to loosen up if you're going to marry a politician. You'll be in the spotlight a lot more, and I know how shy you get. There are going to be people who want to get close to you in the future, and spend those afternoons with you. They'll be doing it to get closer to your wife, though. And I know, for a fact, you've never dated anyone else, or had any experience outside of your current relationship. You're brilliant, and that's why I want to see you get experience with strangers taking you out."

She folds up her raffle ticket and drops it into the bowl.

"And, if you're lucky," she grinned, seriousness vanishing, "You'll get to go out with me instead and I'll make it up to you."

She sighed, unable to see the failure in Yuuna's logic. As a politician's wife, she would be in the spotlight no matter how private she and Rei were. While her record was spotless, estranged father aside, she would, nonetheless, be under scrutiny and asked to be taken out so that they could discuss politics or try and get an in with Rei. She pressed her lips together, knowing she could offer no argument that didn't sound petulant.

"Well, then here is to hoping it is you," she sighed and Aurora merely shook her mane. "I'm surprised you did not somehow get signed up for this."

Yuuna knew her logic was flawless. Strange, circumspect, and full of teasing...but still flawless. Winking at Aurora, she didn't dwell on it, certainly didn't gloat.

"Well I did have someone try, but I caught them in the act and explained how Merrill might not completely understand. You know how she is, and the last thing I want is to upset her."

She's had it rough, these last few months and she never was very good at Union customs. Better to just donate money and not take the risk of doing anything to further upset her partner.

"She's getting better though. Maybe next year we'll both sign up."

"I'm doing everything I can to prevent this from being the fundraiser option for the medic center. Though the winter gala seems so far away I know it'll come right around the corner in no time."

She smiled at the mention of Merrill.

"I'm glad she's adjusting better. Hopefully she'll at least get to see the fruit of our donations and attend a theater show. Rei gave her full support on the matter and knows she can step in if truly necessary."

"I don't think it'll take long at all," Rise comments as she walks the courtyard to stretch her legs. "Unless everyone's scared of Rei. Which, you know, I'd be a little intimidated, but I don't think it's a big problem."

"You are much too kind, Rise-san, I assure you, the only reason someone would raffle for me is because they want a free tutor for the evening," she rubbed her temple.

"As for Rei..." well no, her fiancé was FAR from harmless. Rei was fierce and passionate and incredibly powerful.

But she also trusted Ami.

"She would only intervene on my behalf should I be unable to do anything myself and showed true displeasure."

"Hey, trust me. I know beauty, and you know brains, and you've got both," she says. "And I know Rei trusts you. She's just. Really intense if you don't know her super well."

She blushed at the compliment, her cheeks a light purple. She was unused to compliments from anyone outside of Rei or Yuuna.

"Oh, she's intense even if you do know her quite well, but that's what is so amazing about her," she smiled, truly smitten by the woman she was going to marry. "She never presents herself to be less than she is, but her intensity is fascinating."

Rise really loves seeing people in love sometimes. There's just something infinitely joyful about it.

"Everything on track for the wedding? If you need any help with entertainment or catering, I know some people."

"We had some minor issue with the location for the wedding and reception having gone bankrupt, but we otherwise found a new location and place to hold both. It will be a destination wedding, but the reception will be here in Union. The wedding will be our closer family and friends, while the reception will have a much broader invitation list."

"I'm sorry you got dragged into this," says Michiru as she approaches with a sleepy Luxio in her arms. "I did bring you a friend, however."

Luxio mrawrs in protest, eyes not even opening. She's trying to nap!!

"Well I know you," she chuckled as she scratched under the Luxio's chin. "Look at how big you've gotten!" Aurora looked up and snapped her tail. Don't be rude, daughter, say hello to your grandmother.

"It's alright, it's for a good cause and it's only one evening out of my schedule. I'm not likely to have anyone try and... "win" me anyways."

Luxio doesn't seem to acknowledge Aurora at all, but here's a kitty grin as she tilts her head up so Ami has better access. And as Michiru hands Luxio over, Ami's going to an armful of purring cat.

This is definitely one relaxed kitty.

"You underestimate yourself," Michiru says, smiling. "I'd try myself if I wasn't sure you'll be tired of me."

Aurora snapped her tail, a spark coming from it and Ami glanced down at her suddenly agitated Luxray. "Aurora?" but Aurora merely gazed at her daughter and then snorted, turning to Michiru.

"I do not think I could ever be tired of your company, Michiru-san. You are one of the few people who can keep up with me in a pool."

This is as close to a grin as you're going to get from Michiru.

"Is that right? I'll beat you someday."

Bumping into Ami at the pool and starting an impromptu race is probably one of the highlights of her day, to be honest.

Though she takes a moment to look at Aurora and offer a smile. Sorry, Aurora. The Luxio still likes to act like she's still the baby of the group.

"I look forward to our next bout in the pool then!" she giggled. "And I furthermore look forward to the first play the theater will put on once everything is completed."
