[Rise has set up her Warp Band to record a scene in her living room. It's a cute domestic scene of small, adorable Pokémon: her Happiny, her Ralts, her Pidove, and standing protectively over all of them a huge freaky bug-samurai almost as tall as Rise herself.]

[Musashi is a bit out of place.]

[Regardless, the scene is a pleasant one, with the four Pokémon gathered around a Pokémon egg in the center of a cleared space on the floor, on top of what are probably most of Rise's towels. Himiko and Kiki are carefully playing (well, Himiko is chasing, Kiki is flying and perching on furniture) while Toyo is busy trying to figure out how to fit an egg as big as she is into her pouch. After turning on the Warp Band, Rise goes and kneels next to the egg.]

Leave it alone, Toyo. So, hey! I think this Pokémon egg I got after the earthquakes stopped is about to hatch. It uh...sort of started to feel like a Pokémon instead of an egg, if that makes sense to anyone.

Anyway, I've never seen an egg hatch before, and I'm sure no one's ever recorded it on Warp Band video before for obvio--hey, I think it's starting!

[Toyo falls back and sort of rolls out of the way, and everyone else looks curiously at the egg as it starts noticeably vibrating, then glows...]

[After a few seconds, the egg is gone and there's a female Nidoran standing in its place and making "niiii" noises.]

Oh my gosh she's so cute! Also wow that was way less gross than I thought it would be. Hang on, let me Bond with her...be back in a sec.

[With that she turns off the transmission.]

[ She's not even in city. ... She should get back ]

[Eventually, the feed comes back on with Rise (carefully) cuddling her new Nidoran and a book on newborn Pokémon laying upside down in clear view of the camera.]

Well, they were all...whatever Pokémon do to make eggs at the same time, right? I think time in an egg works out about the same for every species.

Yeah, I think I heard from the staff there that the one I got'll hatch this week. [ Or well, the said "two weeks" ... two weeks ago ]

Yeah. I think Chiyome here's one of the earlier ones and there's going to be a lot more, if everyone wound up with an egg around the same time.

I got one a little less than two weeks ago, and I left it back there at the center - they said they'd watch it for free this time.

[ ... ] You named it already?

Well yeah, that's usually the first thing I do. I can't just call her Nidoran, can I?

[ ... Well you could ]

Uh, yeah. That's right.

[Asemu is staring intently into the video feed.]

Do you even need to bond with a newborn Pokémon? I thought they'd imprint onto you or something.

I'm not sure...I figured it was best to start off properly, same as the rest of my guys, though.

By the way, say hello, Chiyome.

Niii!

[Asemu smiles and waves for the newborn Nidoran.]

So, then, better safe than sorry, huh?

I'm pretty sure these guys only follow directions at all because of my sunny disposition or whatever, so I like talking to them. Warp Band Bonding's the only way I can do that and understand what they say back.

What about telepathy? You could do what you did down in Old City. I think my dad does it with his Pokémon, sometimes.

I can connect with them like that, but all I hear is "Ralts Ralts Ralts Ralts" or whatever. I think it's because you think the same way you talk, and I don't have a knack for Pokémon speak like some people do.

...Oh. Right. Well, um.

[Okay, he's not quite sure how Flit's abilities work, anyway.]

Yeah. You know, sometimes I wish people would invent a translator for that. It would make a lot of things easier.

Hey, that's an idea. Maybe an Engineer and a Kindred Soul could get together and make one.

Hm, maybe, and with those machines we found...someone should make a suggestion!
