[ The late autumn was a slow time for the breeding center in Union, with most Pokémon preferring to start their families in the early spring months, as plants were beginning to bloom. However, this November had been an unusual month indeed, and a sudden influx of eggs meant that things were bound to be busy--and loud.

While the medical center claimed that they would do their best to step in and assist, what this really meant was that Farah, one of their senior-most nurses and former nanny, was left to bear the brunt of the work. There was only so much that the pint-sized Blissey shifter could handle, and while a dozen Pokéchildren weren't too bad in the grand scheme of things, a few dozen, well...

She needed help.

Posters littered the signposts around town. The breeding center was looking for Pokémon caretakers while these newborn bundles of joy were placed into loving homes. Would anyone be up for the challenge? ]]

[ The Ninetales also stares for a long (and extremely judgmental) moment. Then she attempts to withdraw her paw, sitting up even straighter and fanning her tails out behind herself. They waver enticingly.

She cocks her head. Did you have something to say? ] Nine?

[ She's not coming out and saying it, but the worship may begin whenever you're ready. ]

[the Evil Vaporeon Magistrate wobbles dangerously when the thing she was standing on moves, but once she gets her balance back...

Her jaw snaps shut, ruff fully extended again.] Va! Vaporeon. [wow, Princess. She almost thought you were somebody important and actually pretty for a second, there.]

[ Passion just smiles - as much as someone with a lovely slender snout like this can smile. No need to make excuses. She saw through your silence quite nicely.

Here, do something about this. ] Ninetales.

[ She bats Cherubi back at Martelé. The former, who had been attempting an escape, squeaks in surprise. ]

Va!! [s-she was just surprised! Don't read into it!

And she finally looks down when Cherubi bumps up against her leg. Passion gets a dirty look, and then she's practically barking at the poor Grass type.]

Pore. Va?? [that cute waddling thing you saw, was it egg shapped??]

Biiiiii~!!!! [ It was!! It was, and Cherubi remembers because it was also shaped like food! Please don't eat it when you're done with her.....!

She has landed on her side and is having trouble finding purchase with her little nubby legs. Passion watches but does nothing about this. Her eyes may actually be primarily on Martelé.

They will, of course, avert at the first indication Martelé is looking back. ]

Poreon! [she's not going to eat Trainer's and Trainer's mate's baby!! Does she look like she's got a death wish??

...wait.]

Vaporeon?? [did you see where the eggbaby went??

Martelé doesn't seem to be paying attention to Passion at all.]

[ Passion does not mind this state of affairs. No. She does not mind it at all. A single tail may be swishing back and forth, but that's only to keep all other eyes upon her (where they should be). And because she is ostensibly here to take care of babies, and there's a tiny Oddish (little more than a sprout) who seems to enjoy watching that tail wave back and forth.

Cherubi hiccups through her tears. If she replies, th-then this person will have no reason to keep from eating her anymore. Th-the baby went...

One nub finds the floor. Then a second. The baby went that wayyyy!! ] Cherubiiiiiiii!!

[ She bobs her leaves away from Passion but then makes a run for the safety of those tails again. Out here she's too exposed!! ]

[Martelé stands there for a moment, mouth open and staring after Cherubi.]

Vaporeon! [what does that even mean??

But unless she wants to dig through Passion's tails...

Martelé growls, and she's turning away from the Ninetails. She sits up on her hindlegs, scanning the horizon for any sign of a walking egg.]

[ Passion covers her snout with a spare tail for a moment to hide whatever expression she might be making. It has occurred to her that she's a good deal taller than Martelé now. ]

Tales tales? [ Whatever could you be doing? Surely it can't be anything she's better-equipped to perform. Which would put you at her mercy if you requested it. ]

[Martelé growls again. She's trying not to die, okay?? What else does it look like?

...why are those big Pokemon just hanging out there, blocking her view?]

Ninetales. [ Passion casts a calm eye in that direction, then reports. They're watching an arts and crafts corner. The children need extra supervision around glitter.

(Yes, she can see over the obstacle. What of it?) ]

[are they?? Martelé tries to get on her tiptoes to see if there's a glittering egg amongst the kids, but she wobbles, losing her balance and falling back onto all fours. She turns around to finally look at Passion and...takes a few steps back.

Tall. Too tall. Martelé has her ruff fully extended in some subconscious ploy to compensate for it and and. It's probably some kinda dominance thing if she thinks about it, right? Like heck she's feeling inadequate or any of those stupid thoughts!!

But...she still doesn't want to die.]

...Vaporeon? [do you see an eggbaby?

...asking that was like pulling teeth, here.]

[ Passion's chin cocks a bit lower, the better to nearly look Martelé in the eyes. That didn't sound like a proper inquiry. Are you sure you want to know? ] Nine?

Poreon!! [she doesn't have time for this!! What if baby is drowning in glitter????

Martelé grinds her teeth for a moment, and then her ruff deflates a little. She's totally looking off to the side.]

....Va. [please]

Llls. [ Wow, Passion. That was practically a purr. While simpering and looking at Martelé.

But she did finally hear the magic word, so up lifts her noble head on a baby searching expedition....She has to lean more than she'd like but, ah. That crown-shaped head looks familiar. ] Tales ninetales.

[ What is that baby doing, though....? ]

[Martelé is definitely hanging onto every word.]

Va? Vaporeon?? [where is the baby? Is she okay??]

Ninetales. [ You neglected your child-watching duties, didn't you. How terribly irresponsible.

Passion smiles at Martelé with the full force of her vulpine charm. How fortunate that she is here for you. From what she can see, all is well.

....Surely no harm can befall the child next to a large bowl of glitter. ] Ni.

[Martelé opens her mouth to retort (it's really hard when you're putting on a show, okay??), but her eyes get super wide when Passion informs her of baby's proximity to that stuff. (didn't Gold get doused in it before...?)]

Vaporeon!! [and off she dashes! Don't move, baby! She'll save you!!!]

[ Passion waits until Martelé is gone before dipping her snout so she can run a paw through the long fur on the top of her head, Trainer's Trainer-style. Then she rearranges her tails and resumes basking in her own glory.

...She's pleased because the brute started panicking. That must be the source of this odd internal glow. ]
