Ghosts and Lions and Dinosaurs, Oh My! [Closed]

Who: Rei Hino & Ami Mizuno
What: Bonding with Pokemon and one another.
When: Week 96
Where: Hikawa Shrine, The Ruins, The Fertile Plains

The trip was set, the shrine was prepared for Grandpa Hino to take over, and everything seemed to be in order for Rei and Ami's little outing. They needed it, and Ami had practically ordered Rei to relax after the busy week of Soulfasting...so, this was it! They were going to find her a certain ghost, and Rei had wanted to check out the plains to the northwest....

There was just one problem.

"Ami, have you seen my Zoroark Ring? I can't find it anywhere."

"Yes, now...why don't we all get out of here and head west. I'd like to be clear of the swamp by sundown, if at all possible. It's a terrible camping place."

She did join Hedy for a moment, setting out more poffins and tossing one directly into a patch of shadow. It simply vanished without a sound.

"Shall we dears?" She offered her arm to Ami.

Without hesitation she took Rei's arm, smiling at the steam that rose. No matter how many times she saw it, no matter how many times their skin touched and they made the steam rise from their bodies... it didn't matter that she had seen the same reaction with more or less skin. Even when pressed against Rei, with only their flesh between them, she was still amused, enthralled by how the steam curled around their bodies.

"We can clear the swamp before sundown, I've mapped out a course, but it does go through heavy pokemon pack and herd spots."

The steam was something Rei had wondered about. Whether or not it bothered Ami, or not, at least initially. But after they'd started spending evenings together locked in passion it was different. She'd known otherwise, almost immediately, the curious fascination that came from her partner all the more clear.

Nodding, she allowed Ami to lead, and by mid-afternoon the following day they'd arrived at their destination. They could certainly have made it faster by flying but there was something about riding through the landscape that was just as much fun. And it gave Hedy a chance to get accustomed to their company.

The place they're heading to is the edge of a vast plain. Not like the crater plains to the south of Union or the Steppelands to the east, but rather something almost domesticated seeming, calm and placid.

"This...is quite different than I expected. It's almost like farmland..."

Thankfully, there was little in the way of pokemon herds that they cam across. When they reached the plains, Hedy was quick to hover this way and that, never having left the ruins before now.

She gave a little twirl before coming back to Rei and Ami.

Aurora meanwhile saw slight movement and her tail snapped, sending out a spark.

"Perhaps so, it may even be used as such. We can keep an eye out for berries. The grass is so tall!"

"It really is," Rei mused, sliding off Casius's back and rubbing his shaggy head softly. The tigerdog returned the favor by snuffling her hair and drawing a laugh.

"I hadn't expected much when I read the Ranger report, but you know a peaceful ride through the countryside is just what I needed. I wonder what all lives out this direction."

"Well, the climate isn't exactly hospitable to water or ice types, and there is very little in the way of trees here, so the bug pokemon don't really have places to hide. It's too bright for cave dwelling pokemon like zubat and geodude, it's not exactly hot enough for fire types. I suspect a good deal of the pokemon here are grass and normal types, perhaps some flying types, and likely a good deal of rodent like pokemon. Maybe a few electric types," she offered as she gazed around. "I don't think we'll be meeting any dark or ghost types here, there might be some fairy-types, though."

"Hmm," Rei replied, thinking over the list of possibilities. There were probably plenty of different kinds of species out here, and she had to wonder just what would come of the trip.

"I guess we should head through the grass, then. See if we can draw a few out with some poffins." She points to a hill some ways off. "Maybe from up there, what do you think?"

"Well, we'll have a much better vantage point, certainly, but the position might be uncomfortable for pokemon. Perhaps we should have our lunch as well? Let them feel as if we aren't waiting for them?"

"Yes, let's do that," Rei nodded cheerfully, starting off towards it. Casius snuffled along at her side, brushing through the tall grass and blazing a little trail. Not literally, at least.

"What did we bring for lunch, today?"

"Well, poffins and some lemonade for the pokemon, as well as berries for a healthy balance. And then for you and I? I packed some iced-green and milk tea, actually, it was frozen, it should be iced and just chilled by now. Then some fruit salad, sandwiches, rice balls, and for dessert red-bean buns. I brought enough for three days in case anything should happen. With proper rationing, we'll have plenty to bring back home."

"Ami..." Rei giggled, "It's not as though we can't just pop home on Minnie and Olympus if we run out." And that was the truth, but she was pleased all the same. Once they reached the hillock, Rei yanked out a blanket and set it up as a picnic spread while Casius snuffled the tree and made himself comfortable.

"Maybe we'll end up with a guest, all the same."

"Well... it's always best to be prepared, Rei," she blushed as she responded. She was perhaps being a bit silly, but Ami was never ashamed to be over-prepared.

"Well, now sounds like a great time to let all the pokemon to have a bit of fun playing as well."

Although, Aurora was more inclined to just rest next to Casius.

Nodding, that sounded nice enough, she let out her gang and for the most part they settled in and lounged around. Casius nuzzled up to Aurora, sniffing her hair and generally being his usual self.

"Well," Rei went on as she started unloading food and passing it to hungry monsters, "I think they mostly want to stretch and relax."

Eyeing the big dog, she smirked. "And they're getting on better, I think."

Ami looked over to Aurora and Casius as she nosed him back and then smiled.

"Well, living together certainly helps. I think she's a bit less... ah... haughty as well. She understands that I love her and I think just felt a bit uneasy with how quickly I was bonding with other pokemon this past year. After all, before it was just Aurora, Minnie, and myself."

"That's probably true. I've had a few like that, but they loosened up with time."

It's not as though either of them really fail to show affection to their companions.

The meal passes mostly quietly with small talk...but as they're getting to a meaty portion of it, there's a rustling in the grass at the foot of the hill and the sound of lips smacking.

"I think that we have visitors..."

"Aurora was my first pokemon bond ever," at the call of her name, the giant electric cat came forward and gently nuzzled Ami's shoulder before lying down up against her back. "She's secretly very protective of all the pokemon, for all her worry," she laughed.

She came a bit more quiet at the rustling and merely smiled around her glass before glancing towards the grass, detecting every movement, every action.

"I think they're for you."

"For me?"

Rei sat up straight and looked down the hill as...a small brown and orange feline wandered out, licking it's chops. Having never seen it before, Rei blinked and stood up. It trundled closer, looking up expectantly.

"Ami-chan, what...types do you think that is?"

"Fire/Normal type, which is why I said for you." She smiled though, how could she resist a cat? Aurora, merely watched the approaching feline with an idle gaze.

"Come here precious," she cooed, throwing Rei a poffin while she kept calling to the little pokemon.

"Oh!" Rei caught the poffin and bent to offer it to the Pokemon. It wandered closer, hesitant to approach Casius and Aurora, but the big dog at least ignored him.

"He is truly a beautiful thing..." she went on, bringing out her Warp Band and attuning it. "Come here little one. Let us get a better look at you. And here, enjoy."

The Pokemon bounded forward now, taking the snack and entering that mental dialogue with Rei.

Ami watched with a smile, Hedy floating about curiously as she gazed at the little lion and made little noises of interest at Rei doing the same thing Ami had with her.

But ugh, look at this mess her bonded had on this blanket! She would need to reorganize this soon!

And a few minutes later, the conversation is over and the little Pokemon leaps up into Rei's arms, almost bowling her over. She hugs it, rubbing her face against his head.

"Oh, you are such a sweetie. And you say your name is James? Alright. Well, James? This is Ami. And this is Hedi, Aurora, Casius..." and she goes around and does introductions, the little lion bowing his head to each in a magnanimous gesture.

"I didn't expect all this...but he was rather insistent that he get to come with me."
