Event - The White Dragon

[The Warp Band feed opens with the Matriarch’s impassive face looking slightly haggard]

Union, I have a problem and am in need of assistance. About two hours ago refugees just started streaming into the Citadel territory. They say they’re from a city called “Glacier” that is being ripped apart by a giant white Dragon god. Sounds like it’s something up your alley. I’m sending them your way, we should probably go take care of that before it makes it over here. If you guys want to help out, I’ll lend you some of our birds. My Valkyries are already heading over, I’m sending a few flights out to the other cities as well to see if they want to join the party. Let me know what you decide.

Oh, the refugee leader is a fellow named Birgir. I gave him a Warp Band so he can probably tell you more about the situation.

Yeah. I talked to a few other people, and they're thinking that it just might be them. I mean, who else would show up at someone's home and totally destroy it?

[But he's thinking on it. Something about it that he can't put his finger on right now.]

[She shakes her head.]

Even so, we're already aware that our knowledge of the wider world is... limited. Jumping to conclusions won't help that.

I guess we're just gunna have to wait and see. [He doesn't like it, but them's the breaks.]

Are you going to Glacier?

[That question takes her off guard. Mostly because here she was, barely settled in from her first real trip.]

What? Me? I ... I hadn't considered it. Why?

Well- [He says in earnest-] that's sort of the thing around here to do. A lot of people don't want to leave things like this alone, so I guess I figured you were interested in going.

[He shrugs. He was wrong, but he's okay with that.]

Well - I am curious about the situation... it's just very sudden?

Hey, I'm not trying to push you into it or anything. [He waves his hands. He really isn't, and he sounds apologetic about it too.]

I know it's going to be dangerous. But, if you wanted to know more you'd just have to go then, wouldn't you?

[To be fair, he doesn't really know her situation or why the suggestion of it was odd to her. Considering they are perfect strangers and all.

And she's not exactly used to people being open like this.]

The best way to learn would be to go myself, yes. That's just... it's never been an option for me before.

[She hadn't wanted to admit that, either, but wouldn't people figure that out soon enough?] Being able to travel, I mean.

So, does that mean you are from Sanctuary?

[Not that it had come up in conversation before, but that's the only place that would make sense given that comment. And he had assumed earlier, but he had nothing concrete on it. He doesn't say it in an accusing tone, but rather in a curious and assuming way instead. He has friends from there once they were liberated- and knows that everyone thinks differently.]

[It doesn't help that she's already been warned that the population doesn't have the best opinion of them. Not that she was exactly hiding it, but...]

... yes. I traveled here with some people who had been visiting Union... it's only been a couple of days.

So you must be another one of those scholarly types, huh? [He winks, trying to be light-hearted about it.] I could kinda tell. Everyone I've met from Sanctuary has been a total bookworm.

[Was it meant to be funny...? Was he uncomfortable? She shrugs a little.]

It's not an inaccurate guess. Learning is important. Some enjoy it more than others. What about you? You mentioned that you weren't exactly a Union native yourself.

Oh, yeah, I'm from Citadel. I guess I forgot to mention that. I'd ask if you've ever been, but, uh...

[He's making things awkward again and he knows it.]

So it must be startling, to hear this news about what's going on in your hometown. [Casually tries to smooth over awkwardness with... well. It's really not going to be not-awkward at this point.]

From what I've heard of it, it does sound like a fascinating place.

Yeah, it's seriously nothing like Sanctuary at all. If you were looking to really expand your horizons, Citadel would be the place to go.

[Even though any place would do that, since all the cities were so radically different.]

I don't know if you're into it, but they have a lot of tournaments where Valkyries test their strength. It's sort of one of those things that are culturally different, I guess.

They seem vaguely similar in concept to Magic duels... gauging the strengths of those involved in the tournaments might be an interesting experience. I wouldn't mind visiting sometime, since it's... possible now.

[He winks at her, genuinely glad to show Raine around town.]

[She was still a little wary around strangers, but she supposed there was nothing wrong with an introduction at this point, given the information he had already given her.]

And... thank you. Honestly, a good time for that would be after I've had more time to experience Union. I've heard that alone could take a while...

Yeah, sometimes I even still get lost there. There's this portion of it called Ninetales Vale that I still get lost in every time I go there.

[But it is a cool place.]

I've heard that particular area was an interesting place to look into. Is it... simply large? Difficult to navigate?

Well, it's got a bunch of spooky spiritual stores. It all kinda looks the same to me, which is why I get lost so easy. But I just find the shrine and I can get back home from there.

[He tries to play up the 'spooky' part, just to see if he can get a rise out of her.]

[The tone of his voice is something she raises an eyebrow at.] Now that just sounds like an exaggeration. An area like that sounds like it would play host to more... of a unique variety of stores. If they suited your interests.

They've all got these weird lamps and crap hanging outside, with chimes! All of them! [That's also an exaggeration. He defends himself. It's definitely not in his interests, but it was a cool place either way. He won't go in the stores though, at least not the ones where it looks like he'll get possessed. Some of the other shops are safe and cool to look in.]

I know like, one part of it! [Because in the pokémon world, ghosts are real and so is all the spooky stuff that goes with it.] The rest of it freaks me out!

Is the area actually haunted? [She's from Sanctuary, "spooky" stuff isn't really going to phase her all that much. A truly spiritual area though, that's fascinating.] I know the ruins of an old city are here as well... is there a connection?

I don't know, but I'd really rather not find out. Telling scary stories about the place is cool and all, but it's a totally different thing if you're actually experiencing it. You know. That thing no one wants to ever go through, ever.

[Like Litwicks actually taking people off to the spirit realm- nooooo thanks.]

If you wanna find out about the ruins, you're just going to have to go yourself.
