Event - The White Dragon

[The Warp Band feed opens with the Matriarch’s impassive face looking slightly haggard]

Union, I have a problem and am in need of assistance. About two hours ago refugees just started streaming into the Citadel territory. They say they’re from a city called “Glacier” that is being ripped apart by a giant white Dragon god. Sounds like it’s something up your alley. I’m sending them your way, we should probably go take care of that before it makes it over here. If you guys want to help out, I’ll lend you some of our birds. My Valkyries are already heading over, I’m sending a few flights out to the other cities as well to see if they want to join the party. Let me know what you decide.

Oh, the refugee leader is a fellow named Birgir. I gave him a Warp Band so he can probably tell you more about the situation.

I don't know either. I didn't even know there was another city to the north of Citadel.

[It really makes him wonder how many civilizations there really were.]

It makes me wonder just how many other packets of civilization are spread out there... though the fact that they're in trouble doesn't bold well.

I wouldn't doubt it if there's tons of them. I mean, how many have we discovered now? I just wish it wasn't always because something was going seriously wrong all the time.

[No matter where it was. Now it's a giant dragon...]

It's some major déjà vu. I don't know what to think about it anymore.

It's probably because something is going wrong that our awareness about the world is increasing. Especially with the Gods involved...

If it weren't for talking to a few of the gods themselves, I'd agree. But I don't think that's it.

[He thinks a little more on it. Raine might not be wrong, in a sense when he stops and considers it.]

Maybe some of the gods are like that, but I don't think all of them are opposed to us learning more about the world.

-- You've talked to some of them?! Is that true?

[Waver had mentioned that people had, of course, though she hadn't expected to encounter any of them so soon.] Then, what have you learned?

[He nods.]

Sure have. Thankfully they were pretty friendly on that side of things. ...I thought one of them might of wanted to eat me. But I guess humans are too stringy or something. [He looks a little nervous about that, but continues on.]

I think there were a few important things. The first being that not all the gods think and act as one unit. Like they all have their own thoughts and views on humanity and the world. It's not like if you piss one off, you piss them all off or something.

So they're individual in what they do... how many of them did you meet?! [Please hold, she's grabbing paper and pen--] What were their desires? Are any of them displeased with the state of the world?

Well, I've met two so far. They really didn't go into what they wanted. But one of them did warn us of Gigas.

[That was the other important point they'd tried to get out to people.]

I.. see. [That mention of Gigas, though-] How long ago was that?

Oh man.

[He has to think back on that.]

It's had to of been over two months now since that happened. I gotta say though, I can't say I was really surprised by being told that.

And only two months ago? Hm... [She considers the timing - that definitely would have been after the conflict, by her count.]

Ah - I apologize for the abruptness of my questions, by the way. You had spoke of meeting with them almost casually, it... was surprising to hear.

It's cool! I mean, you aren't the first person to ask me stuff like this. I'm sorta used to it by now.

[He smiles back at her, trying to lighten the mood.]

The first time was really out there, and casually might be the only way to describe it other than seriously freaky. One just appeared in the middle of the woods while we were out and wanted to talk a little, like it was no big deal or something. [Even though there was weight to that conversation.]

The second time...that was a little different. I don't think a lot of people like to talk about it.

Well, I appreciate that you're taking the time to answer, even so. Thank you for that.

Still, that's strange that they would approach... were they looking for specific people?

[Yosuke shakes his head. There's even so much that he doesn't even know, about the gods, about a lot of things.]

I don't think so. I mean, I guess the gods have been messing around with Union for a while now, so there's been a lot of contact between the gods and humans. I only arrived from Citadel, let's say, four or five months ago. I'd just never heard of the gods letting us ask them questions for a change until recently. When we asked, we were told that we were being tested- but I don't really get how.

If there are other nations trying to exert control over others... or even over the gods themselves... they have to decide if they can trust any aspect of humanity all over again. So that leaves the "tests"... though it seems that you have to be a part of Union in some way to get them. Did you have to do anything, or did they just... want to see how you responded to the information?

I'm not sure. We asked about that, and we were told that we were currently being tested, even as we spoke. I don't think we were going to get much more than that.

[He sighs. He really wished that part had been clarified when it happened back then.]

I do think they're putting a lot of their trust in us though. I don't think all these people would of gotten random visits like this if they weren't. And stuff that Diancie said kinda suggests that too. Oh, do you know about that?

[He's getting a little ahead of himself.]

Ah - no, I hadn't heard about that either. [Give her time. She'll catch up.]

Could you please elaborate?

Sure. Though I am a little surprised that you didn't know.

[He figures she had to of lived somewhere where they wouldn't of gotten that news. And the only place like that was Sanctuary.]

Well, from what she told me- that we were supposed to find that cave. Where the Mega Evolution stones were. She was guarding that place. And she'd been waiting for us for a long time.

[Cave... hm. That must have been what Waver had referred to earlier. And Mega evolutions?

She frowns slightly at his surprise -- she hadn't wanted her lack of knowledge on the situation to be that obvious, but what could she do? She was at a disadvantage, for the moment.]

It does indicate that something larger is going on if all these other situations are coinciding. When she said she was waiting for you, did she mean... a general 'you', or just for anyone who had stumbled upon that area?

Oh man! [He places a hand against the back of his head...he's trying to remember what she said.]

She asked me why we chose now to come find her. Like we were destined for it. She said, "One way or another, I knew you would come to this place." I just assumed because of what Suicune said that she meant the people of Union, or those associated with Union. But now that I think about it, we don't really have any evidence of that being the case at all.

So 'you' could have simply meant... 'humans' in general. Too busy focusing on recovery after the calamity, having contact with the gods wasn't something ... considered, I suppose?

[She's half musing aloud to herself as she processes his words.]

Was that the first god you came in contact with?

For me, yeah. [He waves his hands in front of him.] Trust me, I'm not the expert on all this. But what they've said is really interesting. Like that humans and pokémon have to live in a balance with one another. I hope that makes sense.

Do they think that something has fallen out of balance? Historically, humans have been the ones to make mistakes...

I don't think something is out of balance. I think something is going to go out of balance if we don't do something.

[His face grows determined, a steel look in his eyes.]

I think that's why we were warned about Gigas.
