I finally found a reason to stand still... [Closed]
Who: Yuuna and Merrill
What: Anniversary Date
When: September, their 1 year
Where: Union
[A whole year now. Yuuna could scarcely believe that she'd been seeing someone for an entire year. That was something of a milestone for her. A year as a trainer, and a year settled with someone? Even her parents had commented on it, and it wouldn't feel right to let the date pass without marking.
So she'd taken the time to buy Merrill a nice new dress, make reservations at a nice restaurant, and remind Merrill at least three times to set aside the evening. And so here they were, Yuuna all dressed up in a black evening dress that trailed down to her knees, actual heels on that gave her an even more statuesque appearance, and waiting for Merrill to come out of the bedroom dressed and ready.]
Are you ready yet, sweetie? Do you need help with some buttons?

Ah... n-no, I'm fine! Do I look all right?
no subject
You...wow. [She steps closer, eyes wide. She had no idea that dress would look that good on Merrill.] You look amazing, Merrill. Really, truly, amazing.
no subject
Are you sure? It doesn't look too... I don't know. Too... something?
[She is built sort of awkwardly, after all, with her somewhat lanky frame and bony joints.]
no subject
[For a muscular, athletic looking woman like Yuuna? Merrill was just skinny. Awkward is only a word she'd use to describe her mannerisms around strangers, and physically? She took a bit of delight in Merrill being petite enough to just envelope in a hug, or hold tight to on a cold night. Eye of the beholder and all that. But then, she had to admit that her elbows were a little knifey at times.]
I'm a lucky girl, to have a date like you on my arm. Are you hungry? Our reservation is in a half hour.
no subject
[She blushes as her stomach rumbles a bit.]
I've been so excited, I could hardly eat all day.
no subject
[Yuuna's own stomach gurgles in unison, and she frowns at her belly.]
You know, I ate this morning too, but geez I'm already hungry again. But it must be a side effect of the whole...fighting type thing. I really hope this Citadel Steakhouse is worth it.
[That's right. All you can eat meat, and other assorted goodies.
Either way, she holds out her arm and scoops up her keys.]
no subject
It sounds delicious. I've heard Citadel's cuts are very tender.
[She eagerly takes Yuuna's arm in hers and waits for her to lead the way.]

[Yuuna lets the way outside, into the late summer air...maybe ten feet before stopping in front of a carriage crewed by a pair of Rapidash. The two horses toss their manes, snorting steam and whicker, eager to be off. Such things aren't terribly common anymore, but to Yuuna's way of thinking, they have a certain sort of mystique to them, like some of the old stories she grew up reading. And renting this for a date like this? Well, it wasn't cheap but she really rather liked the idea, and it left her grinning ear to ear even though she wasn't surprised in the slightest.
An genial looking young woman dressed in a dark suit slips down and opens the door, bowing for her customers.]
After you, darling.
no subject
[And she's definitely expecting the ones in store tonight to be the good kind. She's quickly proven right as they step outside, and Merrill claps and jumps in place at the sight of the two Rapidash.]
Ohhhh, they're beautiful! Is all of this for me?
[She might have gotten the idea that she gets to keep the Rapidash.]
no subject
I thought I'd make the night a little more magical. Rented one of those carriages we see around sometimes. You know. We've talked about it before and I figured hey? What better time?
[The carriage driver practically beams at Merrill. Talking happily about her two girls? Oh, she likes that!]
They'll let you pat them if you want. I've been partnered with them since we were kids, and they're pretty friendly.
no subject
[Merrill worries about that sort of thing, considering she doesn't really pull in any money of her own. But it's a momentary concern and quickly washed away by the delight of gently patting the sides of the Rapidash's face.]
Oh, you're so warm and soft... such a good horse...
no subject
[The carriage driver grins and nods. The Rapidash nuzzles the hand, careful not to burn Merrill too.]
You know, it's weird. I've never actually trained a fire type, thinking on it.
no subject
[Even if her Heatmor is kind of a moody jerk. But the one thing he loves to do is sleep, so it works out.]
no subject
[Yuuna steps clear, gesturing up to the carriage door.]
After you.

And Yuuna nestles against Merrill a bit. Holding her close, the now taller woman rests her head against the other's, enjoying the jouncing carriage.]
You know, it's weird, thinking that we've been together for a year. I never would have guessed that treating Totodile bites would lead to this.
no subject
[She keeps hold of Yuuna's hand, squeezing it gently.]
It's amazing how quickly things change.
no subject
Y'know? You're the first one I ever had that didn't explode in my face.
no subject
no subject
You? No, never. You've been sweet and patient, and just...a good person. You make me happy. I'm more surprised that I haven't scared you off.
no subject
[Her tone is light and airy as always. She's done dwelling on that mistake, but she'd be remiss in failing to point it out as a reason someone might not want to spend time with her.]
no subject
[In fairness to Kintsu though, he's a sweetie. Still a nightmarish ghost with a pocket sewn into her jacket...but a sweetheart.]
And furthermore that makes you a dangerous bad girl, the kind mothers warn you about. I'd say that's at least part of the appeal.
[Okay, she can't stop from breaking into a little giggle at the thought of Biker Merrill being a bit of a tough girl.]
no subject
[Merrill can't help but laugh a little too at being described in that way.]
The Keeper always warned me about making friends outside of the clan too, so I suppose we have that in common.
no subject
But then, mom and dad like you? So. You can't be too bad for me. Except my teeth, maybe. Because you're just so sweet.
[Fairy typed. She may as well be a cute cotton candy elf]
no subject
[As usual, it's either a statement made in all seriousness or a joke, and it's hard to tell which.]
