Happy Birthday Ami-chan!

Who: Ami Mizuno and Friends
What: A very special birthday party!
When: September 10th
Where: Union, Hikawa Shrine

[It'd been a lot of effort to get all of this together, but secrecy was basically impossible so Rei and company had given up on making Ami's birthday party a surprise one. She was just too sharp, and it would've taken the poker face of a Rock type to manage any sort of secrets from her, so Rei'd just convinced Aurora and Madame Curie to get her out of the way so they could get things set up without having her fuss too much.

The decor was simple, but fitting. A lot of the flame motifs around the shrine had been covered over with watery patterns, and everything was set up around the central fountain. Soft blue light flooded the late summer twilight as many paper lanterns were covered over with cerulean paper to subtly tint everything the proper shade. Several tables and chairs were set up, one for gifts, one for food, and the remainder for guests to sit and eat. Cheerful music played throughout the courtyard on Rei's phonograph, classical pieces with a bit of modern flare, much like Ami herself.

And the food. Oh, the food. Enlisting the help of friends she'd gotten together quite a spread. Fish, steamed vegetables, dumplings, sweets, soups, a small feast all set out for the taking. There was also a sizable drink selection too. Juices, a few kinds of sodas, an interesting Calderan pepper-drink, and even a few light wines.

Basically, Rei had probably gone a little overboard, but it was a party!

OOC: Assume your character was invited if they have CR in any way with Ami! It's a party! Feel free to tag around and mingle, put up your own top level, however you want!

Well, you're very kind to help her. I'm sure you gave her very good advice.

I suppose I must be! [She laughed, she was the only Ami at the center.] Well, not as my patient, so were you visiting?

Oh -- no, I'm in training. I go to school in the mornings and I do an internship at the Medical Center in the afternoons. They started letting me treat patients earlier this year.

[because despite how he might look, Lucas has, after all, turned 15.]

Forgive me for assuming, well, that's quite wonderful that you're being allowed to treat patients. Perhaps we'll be working together soon. Is there an area of medicine you wish to specialize in?

I'd like to learn enough to be a field medic... There seem to be more and more adventures calling us away now; sometimes, waiting for people to come to you in the Center doesn't seem good enough.

That is an incredibly noble path to pursue. However, if I may?

I beg your pardon, but I'm not sure it is fair to say we are waiting for people to come to us. Your statement suggests that we are merely twiddling our thumbs while everything is going on around us.

A good doctor not only tends to current patients, but most also ensure the safety and health of prior patients, ensuring follow ups and constant conversation so that patients feel comfortable coming to you regarding prescriptions or issues to allow you time for preventative and not just reactive measures. Furthermore, many who shall one day be your future colleagues study medicine and endeavor to find cures and create newer and more effective means of keeping pokemon and people alike healthy. Medicine is always advancing, always creating new techniques to heal and tend to the concerns of the city so that yes, they can also be taken out to the field.

Field medics are crucial and necessary, there is no doubt, but not everything can be fixed in the field. Please be more careful with your phrasing regarding those who have spent years of training, practice, and their personal time to advance in paths outside of field medics. You would not wish any one to degrade your efforts in your chosen path of the profession, please provide the same courtesy to your future and current colleagues and peers.

[Lucas stares for a moment or two at this speech before he responds in a cordial manner.]

...I'm sorry. That wasn't actually what I meant at all.

[He gives a quick nod.]

But ah, I think there are other people waiting to talk to you, Miss Ami. I'll get out of your way now!

[He leaves the present on a table nearby and gives a wave. The present is a scarf.]
