Hello, everyone! Isn't the view from up here beautiful? [ she moves herself out of the way carefully so that everyone can catch a glimpse of it behind her; it looks like she's on the far side of the mountain pass to the coastal valley, and she's made a stop at a point where you can see the valley itself spread out behind her, a glimpse of the ocean catching the sunlight in the distance. she holds it there for a few seconds before squeezing her torso back into the frame. ] I have decided I'd like to put my spiritual training to the test, so we're all heading to the coastal ruins for a small while.

Oh, but there was something else that's been on my mind for a while, too. I've been wondering, if there's a choice about what way your Pokemon can evolve, how do you decide? [ she shuffles slightly so that a Kirlia comes into view beside her. ] This is Percy! He doesn't really like to battle much, but he is a very elegant fighter when he has to, and he's wonderful at supporting the rest of us, so we can't decide if being a Gardevoir or a Gallade would suit him more. I was going to try and figure it out during our trip, but if anyone has any advice, we would truly appreciate it!

No, it doesn't seem like it. Admittedly, I do not have the same gift for understanding Pokemon that others do, but even I can tell their likes and dislikes. But he doesn't seem to know what he wants...

[ Percy shifts awkwardly next to her. the sound he makes next in Poke-speak could translate roughly to something like i apologise for causing such trouble, lady pearl. ]

I can understand them, and speak to them, kind of.

[It's usually through music rather than speech, however.]

You should have him talk to others that had to choose! Maybe they'll help him figure it out.

Oh, what a good idea! I guess we'll have to see if we can find anybody like that. I'm sure there must be a few people in Union who know what it's like.

There could be wild ones that had trouble deciding too, but they might be harder to find.

Hmm, I suppose so... to be honest, I wouldn't know which areas to start looking. Do things like shiny stones happen naturally in the wild?

I dunno, I've never seen any. Where else would the stones come from?

Oh, um... I'm not sure, I suppose. I was certain that I had heard that they could be manufactured by engineers, too. I'm sorry, that was a foolish question, wasn't it?

Just ask him. He's the one who's doing the evolving, so it's up to him.

[ she sounds a little shocked and says it like it's natural, because for a born-and-bred Unionite like Pearly, it is. ]

But well... the problem seems to be that he isn't really sure what he would like better, either. So I want to make sure that it's something he'll be completely happy with!

Hm...I suppose that is quite the tricky question. Although, it sounds like the best decision is to simply just talk it out with your Pokemon though?

Oh, of course! But, I am not as skilled at understanding Pokemon as some others, although that is not the main issue... Percy doesn't seem to know which one he would like to be better, you see. We both want him to be completely sure about it, you know?

If it's like that, then I don't see what's the problem in waiting right? It seems like he's not ready yet if he hasn't made his choice!

[A pause] Although, that might have been a terribly rude thing to say...

No, not at all! I can understand your concerns, Miss Fuuka. But, um, I'm not asking because I want to rush Percy's decision, or anything... I just thought a second or third opinion may be helpful.

Oh! Well, if that's the case then maybe it would be best to wait and see!

I know I'm still waiting to see if I'm ready to become a Pokemon trainer! And I definitely know that my Espurr and I are waiting to see if we should welcome a new Pokemon into our group as well!

Ooh, that's a wonderful view! I'll have to go there myself some time. [ looks like he's sitting outside in the sun, somewhere in a clearing, maybe. there's beautiful birdsong in the background on his end. ]

Mmh, as for your decision, and Percy's, that is a pretty big one, isn't it? Gardevoir seems like the more elegant choice. I could talk to him too, if you like, but I'm sure the two of you can work it out. One of my friends refused to evolve altogether for a while, until she made up her mind.

Please do, if you ever get the chance! [ she laughs. ] Although, if I may say so, I think that you seem to have found a lovely place as well.

Did your friend have to make a choice about what way to evolve, or was she just not sure if she wanted to do it at all?

We're on our way back from Refuge! There are some very pretty places on the way. [ yep that's a grin. well, he knows where to look by now, so maybe that's cheating? ]

Ah, she didn't want to evolve at all. She didn't want to intimidate people, or give them a bad impression, so she worried it'd be worse if she got bigger. There was only the one path, though, not several to pick from.

Oh, I've never been that way before! [ her face takes on a thoughtful look. ] Although, I have heard rumours that they have some interesting spiritual practices there, so maybe I ought to go to see if there's anything I can learn to broaden my outlook...

[ ... maybe she should save talking shop for another time. ]

Oh, but in any case, that sounds like an awful thing to worry over! I'm glad she was able to come to a decision about it in the end. I guess that situation is a little too different to really help Percy out, though.

Mmh, I thought it might be. Oh! You've met her, actually, hang on.

[ he turns away from the feed a moment, and as the angle shifts, pearl might see an altaria settled in the grass... apparently that's the source of the birdsong in the background. ]

Lady, would you come over here for a moment?

[ and some very fast fluttering later, a crobat settles next to him. he pets her back, giving her a friendly smile before turning back to the feed while lady the crobat shrieks a polite greeting. ]

There we go. So you see, she decided on evolving after all... even though she only stayed a Golbat for all of a day, tops. I think she'd have loved to have a more elegant option. [ a laugh. ]

Still, I guess that sort of dilemma is different, huh.

[Well that's a question. Not one Deimos had ever struggled with, being female, but she and Rei both reply, the Gardevoir clasping her hands in front of her, an eager curiosity burning in her eyes.]

Well, Pearl, the Coastal Ruins are dangerous, so do be careful. I'm actually going to be in the area this week, to the east a ways and I can get there quickly enough if you get into trouble. Don't forget that, okay?

[She'll be all over it. The ruins are a place she's particularly fond of.]

As for your question dear, have you tried asking him? And do you have the proper stone on hand?
